    I have a couple 138XLRs, and when powered off, neither meter sits at the same spot (beautiful light on your meter), but the volumes controls are nice and smooth (much better than most newer radios). Thanks for the video on this award-winning CB. 👍

      Thanks, now I know not to waste much time on that issue. Not sure if its worth $20-25 on parts but I may just recap this rig and see if that evens out the volume and RF gain controls.

    Nice radio found it interesting about the meters being different and that resistor thing at the back of it got me thinking as well? And the needle not settling down would be a pet peeve for me too Great job Mike.👍🇳🇿

    Hi Mike, Very nice video just wanted to let everyone know the correct burnishing tool for cleaning the contacts on the relays is made by GC Electronics part # GC 9338. There available on Newark Electronics and also Ebay. I have worked on one of those and had to replace the microphone gain potentiometer. Take care !

      @@slingerrr9548 yea I need to get one of those. I didn’t order one because I thought I would find my old one from back in the day. Never found it and never bought one yet. That’s one of those tools you use once a decade or so. Hihi
      Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

    Did KORN say FREE Radio? I am flabbergasted that I beat him here-- I need to contact Guiness and apply for a Record Form. They are located in London UK. I have somewhere a burnishing tool that I purchased from, Wholesale Industrial Electronics in Charleston S.C. about 45 years ago. I needed it for my D&A 12 Tube Phantom relays. It doesn't look like it would do anything, but it does. . Foxman may be outdone with this lengthy comment, and I would continue but I want to leave when I am 98.3% done writing. Happy Post Thanksgiving, from UDX-21 South Carolina

      I saw last night that FoxMan is currently at 100% !!!! YES!
      I have not yet needed the burnishing tool on low voltage relays un less the were exposed to humidity. But on larger 120-220V AC relays the heavy paper trick never worked very well. IMO

    My concern about using LED lighting is electrical noise from them entering the radio.

    • @390WagonMaster
      @390WagonMaster  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So back early 2000s On a rainy day I checked out that theory trying different LEDs on different radios.... No noise detected.

      This topic would be a good one to discuss as I've got an old Apollo Mk4 Base station here in New Zealand and whenever i pass my LED light operated Magnifying glass over it to look at the board it picks up pulses of Noise from it as this old radio has a Great sensitive Receiver. But i have heard there Cheap LEDs that do this or maybe this old radio is just such good Receiver?
      Would be a Good topic to do though comparing old radio versus new radios and LED lighting interference.

    not to get off course here but it would be really cool if you do a video on using your jump start pack to power your radios, what power are you running and how long will the pack last, i thought of using that same way to power my yeasu ft 891 hf radio at 50 watts, but wasn't sure if it would turn on, thanks KD9JRU

      I have used the jump pack to power AM/FM CB radios is okay results. Then I moved to LIpo type battery. I will post a video on this .
