I love this tune and what a gorgeous interpretation, the fluidity and subtle rhythm flexing throughout is a delight. Thanks to the Great Carolan & Dave Hill’s playing for bringing it so vibrantly to life. One love.
What a fine piece of music! Turlough O'Carolan was such a brilliant composer of these early Irish tunes. It has been a pleasure listening to your playing, Dave. Keep the tradition going as harp music is ethereal and heavenly.
Did this Dave Hill record other pieces? I see the cover of a cassette with a harp and his name at the beginning of this video? Could you share more from him?
I'm not aware of any other recordings by Dave, other than what's on this (and another) cassette. I saw him play at Beverley Folk Club a couple of times. I went to his house where he kindly gave me a copy of another cassette he did on the life and music of Turlough O'Carolan. I'll see if I can find it.
@@lindamon8His playing sounds amazing! Do you know of any way to get in touch with him? I’d love to purchase a copy of his cassettes. If not, would you mind uploading what you have to TH-cam? This is some of the best harp music I’ve heard
Dave is a very talented man, but I've completely lost touch. If I find him, I'll let you know. I'll upload the full cassette when I find time. Thanks so much for your comments.@@eileenaroon4293
Hi Eileen, I'm at last getting around to uploading more Dave Hill recordings. You should find what I've done so far by searching The Solo Sessions. Dave Hill.@@eileenaroon4293
@@angelicaluce3230 Same. I'm literally just sitting here putting everything in google translate. I've been trying to learn, but I only know a little bit.

No recording equipment when this piece was first performed. Music to last the ages

His name is just Carolan not O'Carolan
This is my favourite version of O'Carolan's Welcome. Thank you so much for uploading. It's wonderful.

A comment on Reddit suggested that this piece inspired the Star Wars AOTC version of the Imperial March and the Game of Thrones theme
You mean "When you realize Game of Thrones ripped its theme from Attack of the Clones." on r/PrequelMemes?

You can't call him O' Carolan - It's either Turlough O'Carolan or just plain Carolan
why ? his surname is O' Carolan
Turlough O Cearbhallán sin An ainm Ceart don ceoltóir seo .

Big deal. Whatever pfffff
O! I'm sure he wont care.
