I am not sure you thought this through, bees communicate by dance when they return to the hive, and as he has found a good supply of food you might find a few dozen bees at your door wanting to be fed.If this happens you could always put the plate with the sugar water in the garden and enjoy your new friends.
John Fithian-Franks yeah but bees are bro's and you could have a whole group of them pollinating your garden just give them a plate of sugar water and honey and let them get to it
@Kendal Mintcake im gonna try this. I have a single honey bee that comes checks on me every day and i feel like he needs a little drink sometimes. Now that I've seen this video and read your advice, im gonna try it. It's so cute how this bee comes checks on me every time im on the porch. He's always alone. Poor little guy.
I was in the paddling pool with my little sister when I noticed that a bee had landed in the water and was drowning. I was too scared to touch it at first in case it stung me (which I realise is quite stupid now) so I picked it up with my sisters goggles. I lay it on the grass and ran inside for a spoon with some sugar water. I was a bit hesitant but I put some of the sugar water on my finger and it crawled on. It the crawled over my hand to the spoon and then it flew away.
Fascinating. I've never seen a bee actually lap up water before - what an amazing creature. Must admit though I was a little bit nervous when the pigeon approached - he might have just fancied a little furry snack!
I once found a bee crawling on me in a bus during the height of summer. I put him in a bottle, took him to a local flower patch, and let him free. I named him Barry of course. I hope he had a good life.
I just had the same experience while in my backyard. So I looked up how to help a bee and found your video. What an amazing feeling to have something so tiny in your hands. I gave it sugar water on a cotton swab which lasted about 15-20min. The 🐝 finally gained its strength then flew away and did a victory lap around my chair. One of the best experiences of my life 🐝🐝🐝💕💕
Omg I did the Same thing for a bee yesterday! It was sitting weak on my kitchen wall I don’t know for how long it had been there. I did my research and it said to give it sugar water on a spoon and I did. I opened the windows and it flew out ! I felt so proud I saved the bee 🐝
Great video, I'm a gardener and cut grass all the time.. and when ever I see a bee I stop my mower, Bees are fascinating animals , Wish I was brave enough to have one on my finger..
Fantastic to see, we have seen more and more exhausted bumble bees this year. It is sad to think that there is not enough nectar for them any more in the UK. When they are fully loaded with nectar (Or sugar water) they can travel for 40 minutes and if they do not find more they die. I believe the Bee Protection scheme is working with commercial British farmers to leave 1 Meter around fields for wild flowers to flourish. Well done Rick every bee counts.
There is an office block near me that has a big outside wall covered in plants, every time I go past it I think, that should be what every building does. Then bees would have enough flowers.
Well done for helping for this grateful bee. I really enjoyed this upload which shows just how gentle bees actually are. Thanks for sharing and informing others. Great stuff...
Wonderful video, Rick! Very cool to see everything up close. I think your little friend appreciated your body heat in addition to the sugar water. Don't let those high-five videos fool you, though. When a bee raises its middle leg in the air it's because the bee is feeling threatened. Clearly, this little guy felt very safe in your care. You're a kind-hearted soul. Thanks for sharing this special moment with us!
That was a really nice thing to do rick. We had a bee in our garden and we did exactly the same. Eventually the bee recovered and flew away. Your a good person rick. kind hearted and considerate towards others.
Some time ago I had found a drone bee and tried helping it, but it died about an hour later. Right now i found a worker honey bee in the same condition as the previous drone bee, but it can still fly. Taking care of this bee led me to find 2 other bees which had nearly drowned. They soon dried off and flew away except for the original bee which was just waddling around. This bee won't fly outside and will ball up, but going back inside, it will flap its wings a lot, quite stubborn
I have honestly never seen a bee lap up water. They’re like little flying dogs with stingers! This is a fascinating video! Thank you very much for the upload! ❤
Beautiful video, well done to you for taking the time to do so. I found myself in the same position today and I have tried my best to help. Thank you for this video. I just rescued a bee from my son's water table and we gave him some sugar water. It started to pour so we put him in a potted plant with a little rain shelter. I hope that he pulls through, he seemed exhausted and close to drowning when we found him. Thank you again for the valuable information.

Wow! I never even knew bees had a tongue! Good on you, Rick, for helping out this creature in need. I actually teach Pet CPR & First Aid, so your title definitely attracted my attention straightaway. :-)
I found a bumblebee on the ground when I was coming home from school. It was a very hot UK summer, so the poor thing was clearly exhausted. I popped it into my purse and ran home, before putting a dish of sugar water (in a clean jam jar) in front of it. I remember the bee clambering into the water and getting its wings sticky (so I had to gently wash it off with a little pipette). Was touch and go for a while (which of course meant I was sobbing, thinking I'd intervened too late), but the bumble recovered and flew off. This must've been a decade or so ago now, haha. I just love them so much.
Actually that calculation when it was done made some quite fundamental mistakes, and it is actually completely possible in physics that they can fly. :)

Thank you for this heartwarming video, I love Bumblebees but very rarely see them anymore. I will now know what to do if I see one that needs assistance.
You helped him and then he buzzed off LOL. Nice to help the little ones. I have done this twice this year but had to use Marmalade water as there was no sugar in the house.
I’m going through that right now!😄 Poor little guy I have right now was rescued from being stuck in our patio curtain. It’s horribly cold here right now, so I brought him in to warm him up, gave him sugar water, and he’s starting to walk. I think we’ll be ready to go in the morning!🥰
I hope he's not a diabetic, LOL. I thought for a bit your new friend was eyeballing him for lunch. I was waiting any second for him to grab the bug and fly off, haha
It seems like you have some insect friends. I think that is cool how many wild insects do you take care of in a week? I love the way you treat the bees you don't seem to have any fear of them stinging you. And they seem to like you too that amazing.

I just have a bee flied into my apartment and my dog caught it which made the bee injured and cannot fly, so happy that I can reach to your video to help the bee get better
Fun fact: bumblebees use their wing muscles to produce body heat (like when you rub your arms when you're chilly)! So when they're cold they cannot fly. Bumblebees are often mistaken as sick or dying, but they're usually just cold. It's good that you gave her a snack though
Awesome video Rick, I wish there were more like it and you, million times better than seeing humans doing quite the opposite. Well done. That was good for the soul wasn't it :)

Definitely cheaper than having a dog :o)

When I was a child I would feed the Zebra spiders hunting on the garden wall aphids with a pair of tweezers.
very good work, it is necessary to help these bees.
Fun fact: bumblebees use their wing muscles to produce body heat (like when you rub your arms when you're chilly)! So when they're cold they cannot fly. Bumblebees are often mistaken as sick or dying, but they're usually just cold. It's good that you gave her a snack though
Cute bee! Poor buddy
Awesome video Rick, I wish there were more like it and you, million times better than seeing humans doing quite the opposite. Well done. That was good for the soul wasn't it :)
