Review: 2025 Toyota Camry - Hybrid For All!

  • The 2025 Toyota Camry is now hybrid-only, but surprisingly, it's LESS EXPENSIVE than the 2024 Camry Hybrid while providing more power, more standard features and more tech than ever. Plus, you can get AWD on every Camry in the lineup. All this combined with excellent fuel economy, great driving dynamics and competitive pricing really sets up the 2025 Camry to continue to be the midsize sedan leader. What do you think about the 2025 Toyota Camry? Big thanks to Toyota for bringing me out to San Diego and providing this opportunity.

@@rickjohansson4257Why is that weak argument always the go-to rebuttal to hybrids? Toyota has proven for decades that they make reliable batteries, plus non-hybrid internal combustion engines break and need to be fully replaced too. More people just need to admit they’re scared to feel emasculated by a fuel-efficient car and overcompensate with lifted trucks. No need to bring other innovations down.

The Camry is an impressive car, but I think the state of the industry makes it even more impressive. Their refusal to give up on sedans makes we want to support them with my $$$.

It’s not that Toyota doesn’t want to give up on sedans, if people are still buying Toyota sedans like Camry and Corolla, then why would Toyota give up on them? Consumers are the reason why camry still lives, if people still buy 300 thousands every year, then there is no reason to give up.

I really love what they did with this car. I think they did it just right. It's not too drastic or overly styled like some redesigns, it still looks like a Camry just brought into the modern age. People don't give midsize cars enough credit. You get luxury, space, durability, technology, good ride, good style, good fuel economy, and agile handling rolled into one.

It's truly a shame that after just one generation, Toyota turned the Camry right back into a slow, boring appliance. They should've brought the V6 back or at the very least, give us an i4 turbo with 280-300hp option like Honda did last gen when they got rid of the V6. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll give us something like this with a new TRD or maybe GR model down the road. One can hope.
Considering most people aren't "enthusiasts" and just want something to get from A - B while saving as much on gas as possible, this will sell like hotcakes, but for people like myself, the Camry is officially dead. I'm just so thankful I found and bought a 2024 XSE V6 just in the nick of time last week before they're gone forever. Gonna drive this thing until I either die or the wheels fall off at this point with the way this industry is going. RIP V6 Camry (1988-2024)

Do you know the answers to my questions about the 2025 Camry?
    1. Does the 2025 Camry have steel knuckles or aluminum knuckles?
    2. Approximately how many shop hours to replace new lithium ion battery in 2025 Camry under the seat? I’m hoping the new design requires less time to be removed to get the battery out.
    3. Does the 2025 Camry have an electronically controlled variable oil pump? 4. Does the ECVT transmission in the 2025 Camry have a slush lubrication system or does it have a dry sump system like the 2024 Prius Prime?
    5. Is the transmission in the 2025 Camry the PB12 transmission like in the 2024 Prius Prime which is lager than what is in the standard Prius?
    6. Does the 2025 Camry have lug nuts with bolts or did you switch to bolts like on the 2024 Prius?
    7. Does the 2025 Camry have a re-designed Two Piece timing chain cover like the 2024 Prius which was re-designed to eliminate the chances of leaks?

I don't think it's coming back. The take rate was like 7%. The only new debut so far that still uses the V6 is the Lexus TX 550h + and even there it's hooked up to a plug-in hybrid setup.

Probably never coming back, if you really want performance, maybe wait for the hybrid max, which might come in the future.

Nice! People make fun of the camry as a boring roll boat of a car but I don't think that has been the case since 2017. I drove a 2017 camry LE as a rental and I was very impressed by the handling as I think that was the year the TNGA suspension platform was introduced. I can only imagine how much better these new camry's handle and feel with the hybrid boost and sportier suspension. Unfortunately I think the new accord hybrid, as ugly as it is, edges this new camry overall. The new accord hybrid is more spacious with a better interior (imo) and faster with a 0-60 time of 6.6sec. It also handles really good.

I think almost everything on the new Camry looks pretty appealing, but I find the 7hp eAWD system to be so off-putting it would eliminate this from my shopping list. Living in the suburbs of Buffalo NY it seems pretty wimpy to me as AWD systems go. I know it didn't test well on the Prius in winter tests. When competitors like the Legacy, Altima, and Sonata have real mechanical AWD systems I'd be looking to those over this for my particular wants.

This new Camry AWD has a MUCH stronger rear electric motor. I believe it’s 40hp. It will never be better than a Subaru AWD system, but I think this new Camry AWD will be just fine for snow/rain traction.

It’s not a traditional “CVT.” It’s an eCVT which doesn’t have the annoying drone that a conventional CVT transmission has. Also, the long term reliability of the eCVT is much better than traditional CVT’s.
