I am so existing watch your video. Chongqing is my hometown. It keeps changing and I am know would be lost if I come back as it changes so big. Thank you for introducing its true face to the world. I very much appreciate it.
A fun fact: the street that built through Chao Tian Men(朝天門) is called Jie Sheng St.(接聖街). These two names come in pair: Chao Tian Men literally is “the gate towards the majesty” and Jie Sheng means "to welcome the arrival of the emperor". These places were where the ancient emperors (or just their imperial edicts) land Chongqing from water, and they have existed for hundreds of years, ending up a landmark of Chongqing's wharf culture. However, after the build of Raffle's City (it's where the Barrett's stayed during their trip) in 2019, Chao Tian Men Sq. was so-called "renovated", and Jie Sheng St. turned into nothing but an underground passage to the parking lot of RC. Youngsters in Chongqing welcomed RC for its modern design and convenience brought to the city, but to the aged Chongqing people, it was a betrayal to our own culture and a destruction to the land itself. This quite set off a storm of protesting voices at that time. As a local youngster, I don’t hate RC, but I hope all Chinese cities can maintain their traditions and cultures in the process of modernization.
What a surprise for me to see my hometown Chongqing show her beauty in you TH-cam channel! Thank you!!And welcome !!!! Without doubt the virus is what we fear now, but the prejudice might continue to exist or even widely spread in the future world is worth more concern. Therefore, if you truly want to know more about China, please come and see in person just like two Mr.Barrett do! Of course China does have quite a few disadvantages and of course you could dislike her or choose to stay away from us.But just don’t shut down your eyes and ears and repeat your prejudice. As the small figures, weak though we are but no one wants to be a fool controlled by some media and those big guys , whole world is the same. Truly hope everyone well ,and the world prosper again !
The city model beneath the glass floor really showed the size of Chongqing for me. I knew it was a big city and have seen many drone montages of it but OMFG that really showed the size of it.

Chongqing was originally called Gongzhou, but in the Northern Song Dynasty, an emperor named Zhao Dun changed the name of the city to Chongqing.
At first i find it a bit odd to show an underground train model in the museum. But then i realised what a monumental achievement it is for chongqing. When i was a kid in chongqing, no one ever believed or dreamt we would ever have a metro railway system. It was so expensive to build the rails comparing to other cities. We had to demolish mountains, relocate people, and construct new bridges for that purpose. But alas, now the whole city is linked by more than 6 different railway lines.
CQ became from a single division surbodinate to Sichuan province to the CQ municipality formally in 1997, as of May 2020 CQ consists of 21 districts, nine of which are made of the main urban area of this city in the mind of most Chongqingers especially old or middle aged locals, namely Most of the other districts were subordinate to Sichuan province before 1983, such as 荣昌,潼南. Afte 1983 their administrative divisions were reorganized and then under the administration of CQ. If you had a visit in Chongqing Planning Exhibition Hall, much more information could be achieved...

As local people, there is a lot of information that you mentioned I don't know, thank you love Chongqing my home town.
I am proud of my hometown city. I was born and grew up there until I moved to the U.S. eight years ago.
