my 31 yr old nephew has some strange ideas about my generation (i'm 70). As in - 'we' were the red scare generation that hated communism. Having grown up in rural Wisconsin, I can tell you that Walz is authentically the kind of person we all knew and could relate to. He reminds me of my Dad growing up, which is funny as I'm the same age as Harris. Comfortable on the farm, working on the car, and generally helping out the neighbors. Historically, it doesn’t matter that much. VPs are traditionally picked because they might win their own state, and that can be important. I don’t think Palin lost McCain the 2008 election, but she certainly didn’t help him win. Walz might be a big factor, but he might not. He might be the exception to the rule.

Harris picked Walsh probably because he was the only one considered having served two terms as a governor or senator. He also served six terms in the House, So this choice was a governing choice not a strategic choice, In contrast, Shapiro has only been governor for 18 months.
An audio tape between Walz and Trump really shows that Walz was very sympathetic to the protestors and only used the guardsmen when it became unavoidable. And Rev Sharpton said that Walz was crucial and sensitive in facilitating the investigations and prosecutions of the police officers and attended the funeral and really tried to bring great compassion to the situation. In a way, that tragic time showed what a compassionate human does when doing his best to balance a response to an out of control situation.

Having grown up in rural Wisconsin, I can tell you that Walz is authentically the kind of person we all knew and could relate to. He reminds me of my Dad growing up, which is funny as I'm the same age as Harris. Comfortable on the farm, working on the car, and generally helping out the neighbors. It's good not having 2 prosecutors on the ticket.

I’m so baffled as to why we keep hearing that the vice president (the running mate) “doesn’t matter”!!! How can they not??? Isn’t the VP supposed to be immediately replacing the role should anything happen to a president in the US (as per Amendment 25 on presidential succession process)? How can such a role be seen as so inconsequential to your elections?
Historically, it doesn’t matter that much. VPs are traditionally picked because they might win their own state, and that can be important. I don’t think Palin lost McCain the 2008 election, but she certainly didn’t help him win. Walz might be a big factor, but he might not. He might be the exception to the rule.

BTW, Walz signed a bill that provides for free sanitary products in ALL public school restrooms starting in fourth grade. Being the caring and compassionate guy that he is, he knows that there may be some trangender students who are menstruating. An audio tape between Walz and Trump really shows that Walz was very sympathetic to the protestors and only used the guardsmen when it became unavoidable. And Rev Sharpton said that Walz was crucial and sensitive in facilitating the investigations and prosecutions of the police officers and attended the funeral and really tried to bring great compassion to the situation. In a way, that tragic time showed what a compassionate human does when doing his best to balance a response to an out of control situation.
