Never seen this before but I thought to myself the Damned on countdown the words and numbers gameshow? Haha, no it wasn't that countdown afterall. But then again I'd be happy to watch them on anything. Dave's got to be the best vocalist in the punk, new wave music category in the 70s and his gothabilly work in 1990 when he fronted Phantom chords. He's still as smooth as ever. God save the king! 👏👏👏
Countdown was Australia's greatest music show for about a decade from the early '70s. Not just playing top 30 stuff like TOTP (although they did) they also championed new acts (AC/DC performed many times in the early days) and gave relatively niche acts a platform (Iggy Pop's "I'm Bored" is unforgettable ;) ). Sort of like the sweet spot between TOTP & The Tube
This is the extended version. Unusual for a promo clip. But they do fade it out rather than playing the full 12 inch version. Like all countdown guests, it's lip syncing of the exact vinyl release. Looks like Countdown didn't tell the band that Countdown were playing the long song version, because Dave doesn't fully sync towards the end once the song starts to extend past the normal single song length version. Check out the extravagant mix on TH-cam. It's the best, longest and baddest version.
@julieanddavid Yeah they came to Liverpool to sing this and they came to my house for tea n that, but Roman got he's nose stuck in the biscuit tin, and we only got it out in time before he went on tv. Damned fine clip this I believe from the land they call Aus. Wonder if Ratty was ever on neighbours ???
