Not only enjoying your build and humour but your clever presentation of the usual yt mantra on the rowlock was the first time it's ever made me smile. 😊

Thank you for that. I am really enjoying the process of making these little videos, but I'm mindful that filming and telling the story the building of a small boat over a period of time has the potential to be somewhat dull. Important for it not to be too serious I think.

I agree, which is why I also enjoyed watching two blokes and a boat. I'm looking forward too your next videos.

My favourite TH-cam channel. I like your "cordless" drill. Really enjoying watching the process, many thanks

Gosh. thank you so much for your kind comments Matt. Really appreciate your feedback. One of the pleasures of building this boat is that it gives me a good excuse to use my collection of vintage woodworking tools.

Thank you Patrick. Launching day will be a wee way off yet, I still have quite a bit to do to finish her, but looking forward to the day for sure!

Love the little details and might as well borrow the idea of centreboard friction tube!

Thanks Kemp. Its very simple and tried and tested system. I used it on my dinghy that I built way back when I was a teenager. It was a common thing for dinghy centre boards back then but seems to have fallen out of favour. It also has the advantage that the board doesn't drop back in the case if the boat goes over.

Good idéa to put à coin of 1947 under your mast. I am looking for a coin of my year of birthday as well for my futur Ilur.😊

Hi. Yes its lovely to have the opportunity to build small personal treasures into the boat. Good to hear you plan to build too! Its a very rewarding journey.

Nearly there. What rig are you going to use?

Hi. I'm going for the balanced lug sail rig. I was tempted by the yawl rig as it is just so attractive, but as I will mostly be sailing single handed I think the balanced lug would be the best choice. Important that the reefing is quick and simple for me as my home cruising ground on the lakes here is somewhat unpredictable with sudden changes in wind strength. The launch day still seems a way off though. I still have the spars and oars to make, as well as finishing the inside when the timber arrives.

Hello David. She was built in Hornet naval yacht club in Gosport. My Dad was connected with the navy, and we sailed out of Portsmouth. The boats name was "Rebeck". She was just a lovely boat and we did many trips in her cruised and raced her a lot. Happy to send some photos.

@@wetdog2943 Thanks I would like that I sailed with my dad out of Chichester for quite a few years, in a plastic fantastic a preproduction prototype MacWester once we sorted a few issues she sailed well above her handicap. I moved back to the IOM in 76 so the chances of us having passed each other are limited. As a very young lad I helped my dad build a couple of boats out in Nigeria I was far too young to be on the tools but dad had me fetching and carrying for him not long after I learnt to walk soaping screws etc easy tasks for a toddler, on occasion I would be stuffed into some place he could not reach and requested to wield a spanner or screw driver not so easy for small hands. We raced a Nat 12 for some years an early heavy boat built at Dell quay not too competitive , unless the wind was up. Built on or two boats and some canoes. Nothing as pretty or as challenging as the Ilur. Coming along nicely now hope your wood turns up soon, am looking forward to seeing her sailing.

I wouldn't want to do without power tools, especially the electric sanders and the electric saws make life so much easier, but it is nice to use my vintage hand tools where possible. I do find I resent flicking the switch on a tool sometimes as it interrupts my podcast or talking book.
