I was in St. Albans on my 1st visit to Vermont Sept 11th this year (2023). I saw no trains, heard no train horns and found no train yard. Wish I could of found this train yard being a rail fan myself. Great video !😊
they don't have to be, G&W could rebuild them all to meet EPA T3 or T4. They are just required to destroy the prime mover. For units the decided they'd rather replace they'll need to be EPA regulated. They can't go find a bunch more 50-70s locos which haven't been modernized
@@andrewcrumb8027 yeah it’s all a result of G&W not keeping regulated engines maintained to the standards required along with documentation. 100% a self inflicted issue
Good video mate! I need to get back to Saint Albams to catch that chip train. Last time i've been there the cold was so bad I left. Do you habe any hints about this train's schedule?
The last time I checked, they ran south pretty early in the morning (well before Amtrak) and returned around noon/early afternoon. Monday-Friday but will randomly take days off.
Shame on the 1750, remember it holding down that job over a decade ago the first time I was up there.. G&W used tax money for new power in exchange for scrapping older units, it’s been a mess to this point including some legal action from the EPA
Harrison, I've watched about 13 minutes of this so far, enjoying it. I think back when the NECR was the CV, at least, the yard north of the St. Albans depot was called Italy Yard. Glad to see at least one loco is still in its original NECR livery of blue and yellow-gold, which was one of the most beautiful either and I think won a prize. So far I've been in St. Albans myself just once, briefly last summer or fall. Do you know what the tank cars in the TILX 190500 carry? My older son photographed some in Burlington a week or two ago but I can't read the small lettering on his shots or your video, at least not yet and didn't find the numbers of the ones he encountered on line. I'm guessing ethanol or, just possibly, corn oil. Best, Steve Wagner
Hate to see the SD9 scrapped. Thanks for sharing.

Not sure how you missed the railroad running right through the middle of town. Tuesday and Thursday is when the most action is
Terrific that you were able to document this vintage unit. Thanks for sharing it. James.
Great video!🚂🚂🚂
Great video!
What a catch. That was really neat seeing that SD9 switching, and going through its paces! (Dave).
Sorry to hear about the SD9. Breaks my heart to see older diesels being cut up for scrap.

@@gdrriley420 Well, that makes sense.
Very well done! Now I’ve got to add St. Albans to my to do list haha

Very nice video it will be sad if 1750 gets destroyed I have videos of 1750 to it’s very unique locomotive for sure
Its about time this crossing has gates coming up and down! When did they decide to put the gates up?
Which one?
Awesome!! Would you happen to know when this order to scrap 1750 is suppose to happen?
It was supposed to happen “immediately” but obviously that didn’t happen. So I have no idea
I ❤️ love 🚂 trains & hate 🥶 winter.❄️
I really enjoy your videos. How do you find out all the information on these trains?
Facebook, friends with RR connections, and past experience. The scanner helps a lot too

I dont quite understand, as these are old units, that there were NO standards/ regulations on.

Italy Yard is still the technical name, but it’s rarely used anymore. I don’t keep track of what most of the tankers carry.
Hopefully a buyer is found for the 1750.
Give it a new lease on life.
Whoever’s behind this EPA order needs to be fired
I Hope someone saves her from scrap.
I'll take the SD9 if G&W can't have it lol
*name your price*
Specifically not allowed if you read the document
@@NorthCountryTrains They can sell it without a prime mover but then it can't be fitted with one unless it meets T3 or T4.
Is this a special built SD9? The SD9's that Southern Pacific had were no front windows you could see forward out the door window.
Standard built, modified with the “lower” short hood
