Geography's a mess, and in fairness, as someone from the UK, not even I knew where Southampton is. It all comes down to so many things. I only recently learned there are multiple Washington's, that Washington DC isn't even in Washington, and that Washington (the state) isn't on the East Side of America. Gibraltar isn't even part of England, it's some rock in Spain that we want ownership of for some unknown reason that counts as an English Territory. There's things like that that are common knowledge to some, but completely obscure to the other 99% of the world.

So I've actually tracked my takeout vs grocery expenses across months when I was cooking in more (not depressed) vs eating out more (super fucking depressed), and the difference isn't as stark as you'd think when you take into account that you're not actually spending that money on groceries. Yeah, you're spending a shitload on takeout, and it's more expensive, but I think it shook out to less than double the cost. Which was.... not what I anticipated.
@@warmachine5835 well it depends greatly on where you live. Here in Prague the rent is rather high and the average/minimum wage not so much, so its not unusual to spend more than half of your income on rent alone. Double the food expenses and glhf trying to save any money
It cost me half a week of salary to have takeout 2 times a day everyday for a month. So 1/8 of my paycheck. Not too bad. I'm in canada

A very hard cheese like Edam is viable to microwave- still messy but it doesn't entirely liquify in 70 seconds. You also have to slightly burn any toast you don't cover with cheese so it stays solid enough to pick up.
Put butter on bread, put cheese on other side of bread, put bread on other side of cheese, put butter on other side of bread.
put ceramic plate in microwave
Put it on high for 20 minutes
when it's done, put sandwich on plate
use spatula to flip sandwich
Take cooked sandwich off plate, put onto cold plate
Eat sandwich
You can toast the bread then microwave it with the cheese in, its fine though not quite grilled cheese.

I even remember boiling water being a part of elementary school education where we got to boil water and check when it started boiling with a thermometer, as a learning experiment to really ingrain that water boils at exactly 100 celsius

Take-out 3 times a day 365 days a year. Thats a lot packaging waste for one person 😭.
That is perhaps an industry problem rather than individual. Washing dishes for 10 minutes x 365 days a year is a lot of time perhaps wasted. One and a half work weeks of time per year just on dishes. Dishwasher could half that time.

Also, you're assuming that she's putting in work. Dude, I guarantee you that she's getting editing help. If not, well then good for her, but SO many people work hard (even harder, probably) who edit videos, and they learn how to cook themselves.
Also, you seem to be laboring under the delusion that all these streamers are for some reason incredibly hard workers. I'll admit that streaming is probably draining, but there are construction workers and janitors who work FAR, FAR harder than ANY twitch streamer, so she's not really a hard worker - sorry.

This is such an awkward convo I love it, it relates to me today. So I’ve never had a microwave and my place is under construction. I have a shit tonne of Shin Shin bowls and I keep going to neighbours asking for hot water. When they say they’ll microwave it I have to shamefully ask to use a pot because the microwave turns the noodles to mush. “I just need to boil water for my ramen, I can bring my own pot.”

I'm actually so glad we have a female NLSS member (I only don't really count kate beacause she isn't on the show very often) you bring so much to the show that nobody else can and you've contributed to the dynamic by being a more wholesome and endearing side to the show.

Boiled water is too hot to drink. Waste time waiting for it to cool. Every morning, I microwave mug of water for 70 seconds, steep cheap tea bag for 4 minutes. Drink it down, do it again, same bag
