    I've always suspected Childe's family of having Mondstadt roots like Rosalyne. His name Ajax doesn't sound like Snezhnayan like that of Andrei, Vlad, Nadia, or Etkarina. Even his brother Teucer doesn't have a Snezhnayan-sounding name. It wouldn't be a surprise to me if Genshin revealed him in the future to be an immigrant from Mondstadt.

    It'd make sense, Eula also has strong claims to a family that ruled by nobility of deed, and strong sea related themes. lady of seafoam, her grandfather gifting her a bone whistle to emulate the sound of waves. Seas and Sea journeys (like Thoma BG) seems to be a strong part of Monstadt lore.

    Yknow, one of the most strange things I've always thought about Childe's story is how he just happened to fall into a hole after being lost in a snowstorm. Like this could have happened to anyone else, why Childe? I later looked up that he was chased by bears and wolf packs, basically into the hole, and now I'm, wondering... Maybe Skirk Called him down there? Like out in the snow, you have this kid get chased by wild animals down into the abyss so his ancestors can teach him the way of combat? I think this analysis provides us with a lot more information to base our theories off of. (Skirk borrowing her ol' pal R's wolf creations to chase a child into the abyss, anyone?)

    Childe having inspirations from Cú Chulainn and Scathach, two iconic Fate Lancers, gave me so much joy as a lot of the playerbase has been saying that Childe is a Fate Archer bec of his kit 🤣
    But back to Childe's connection to Parsifal, maybe bec it's common knowledge, but it wasn't mentioned in the vid that Osial, who Childe summoned in the Archon quest, is a sea monster with tentacles, so more kraken reference?

    I’m not gonna lie the pronunciation in the video killed me. I do quite like the idea that childe is descended from Parcifal though. Makes sense given the artwork.
    It is still very strange to equate the descendant of arthurian Percival with ulster cycle Cu Chulainn though. I don’t think the analogy fits very well. Cu and Childe don’t really fit together that well. There were a bunch of heroes with transformative berserk modes. Also foul transformation and Cu’s warp spasms don’t fit together that well. Also Gae Bulg was a barbed spear, not a hooked spear. It was also launched by the foot and not the hand. Childe uses it in his hand and specifically with his delusion and not his vision. So I don’t think Cu was the prime inspiration for Childe. Though his teacher being inspired by scathach isn’t that surprising, as she’s one of the coolest warrior women in all of mythology.

    • @capriciaelcid4743
      @capriciaelcid4743 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      It's not so strange as you think. In reality Arthurian legends and Germanic and Celtic mythologies have many similarities/common themes. Just look at Morgan le Fay and Morrigan, Arthur and Siegfried for exemple.

    • @mon_moi
      @mon_moi 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mizuhashitsunokaI mean Hoyoverse used that exact approach for the entirety of Sumeru's lore, like really mixing Buddhist, Iranian, and Egyptian legends that have little to do with each other. And everyone agrees Mondstadt is like based on German and Old Norse legends but Venti himself is based on the Greco-Roman wind gods. Pretty much all of Teyvat is a mishmash of different mythologies. Compared to all that, connecting Childe with Cu Chulainn isn't so far off. And if I'm remembering correctly, wasn't Cu Chulainn's spear made from sea monster bone? There's another Childe parallel for ya.

    Parsifal could also be Cu Chulainn. In the legends, he makes a deal with Scathach twin sister Aife to spare her life in exchange for her leaving Scathach alone and bearing him a child. That could explain how Childe is both related to the Blue Eyed Witch and Parsifal, and there being no record of Blue Eyed Witch meeting Parsifal after the second time.

  • @starthingy
    @starthingy ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Yeah no, this "Childe is from Mondstadt" is even bigger crack than the "Childe is from Enkanomiya" theory.
    1. According to this logic, Wanderer's talent books should be from Inazuma, Thoma's from Mond and Amber's from Liyue. But that's not the case, now is it?
    2. "Childe's specialty dish looks like cranken that killed Parsifal"... or you know, Osial, the big tentacle monster Childe summoned
    Edit:
    3. The connections between Skirk and blue-eyed witch are stronger, but I don't see how she can't just be his teacher without being related. I also don't see why a noble from hex & hound can't be unrelated to Parsifal (Skirk is also described as a swordswoman, not a spear...woman, but I guess she can be both)
    4. The descriptions of artifacts and weapons are usually factual, I think? That would mean that Parsifal DID die in the battle with the sea monster and didn't reunite with his lover. Unless they had a child(e) before he left Mond of course, but I don't think it was mentioned anywhere
    5. The whole thing happened like a 1000 years ago. I doubt that the genes for orange hair and blue eyes would carry through generations for so long. Eula for example doesn't look like her ancestors from 1000 years ago

    I have a fun bit to add to the theory that makes it even funnier to me. The place were Scathach taught these Irish heroes is Dun Scaith, which (according to Wikipedia anyway) is also known as the Fortress of Shadows. And where to Skirk teach young Ajax? In the Abyss, a place associated with Darkness.
    Oh and one more fun connection. The Gae Bolg/Bulg is said to be made of bone from a sea monster. which further relates to the Mondstadt Parsifal. Not only that, but being of bone and a sea monster also makes me think of Child's constellation. Monoceros Caeli, a narwhal. In other words a "sea monster" known for its "bone-like" horn (Incorrectly so, since it's actually a tooth.)
    Very loose connections, but very fun coincidences to throw into this soup of a Childe theory!

      It could also be that they were experimenting since he was a really early 5-star, but it's definitely a curious choice they made.

That is why child's foul legacy looks like a herald and not a lector who wield a catalyst weapon as suppose to herald who wield a melee weapon. I think the herald and lector are from a race in Abyss that are like the dragon race who lived a light realm and I think before sun and moon those two realms coexistence was a battle over power and balance like jing and jang. Then came the decend3r or second who came or primordial one and forced the human realm in between them. Something like that.

    What you probably missed:
    1) It's Nottfriega who turned the nobleman (Dietrich) into a dog. The implication of Dietrich missing ultimately caused the Lawrence to fall.
    2) Nottfriega (and Magdalene)'s mother was the one said to be a witch. Nottfriega knew dark magic (from her mother) as Magdalene knew light. Apparently they shared body for a bit.
    3) Mondstadt's yellow blonde hair and blue eyes is always implication to be correlated with the Gunnhildr. Like Jean gets her hair color from her mom (which doesn't appear in Barbara because her hair resembles more of her dad. Barbara is more like this light ash - light blonde, but Barbara still counts as a blonde because they want to note her as Jean's little sister, regardless.)
    In the end Mondstadt still abides the circle rule, and since Parsifal was a nobility, her lover the Blue-Eyed Spear Witch was probably also of nobility. Maybe one of the branches of the Gunnhildr or even the Gunnhildr themselves.
    Reminder: the only source of info for the Gunnhildr's "motive of participation" during the rebellion era was that of the Biography of the Gunnhildr, written... ofc by a Gunnhildr. Even if Jean talks about this biography a lot, she prob knew this was just propaganda by her ancestor to legitimize the Gunnhildr's "rule" over Mondstadt.
    Since any history can or has been tampered either 500 years ago or long ago, but any allegory tends to miss being tampered as they were already fictionalized in the first place, this is what created inconsistency regarding the whole rebellion saga.
    All we know is that in the end, Venti "used" Venessa and her quest to turn the wheel around.

    • @reveriesend4668
      @reveriesend4668 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My guess? I've been guessing Childe's connection to Mondstadt since day 1. Just like how they include Mona as Mondstadt cast despite being fully Fontaine.
      My guess atm (after reading around and watching your video and reading again) is like:
      1) Dietrich in the Hex & Hound is obvious allegory to Eberhart, who went missing in the Dragonspine expedition after he basically tried to kill most of the aristocracy member. They never found out his real fate (he was grievously wounded and was last told to be travelling via the river to Cider lake from Dragonspine). The allegory explicitly changed the weapon from spear to sword, as sword was a sign of nobility in Mondstadt + hey it's an allegory. They wanted to avoid getting tampered by fate.
      Eberhart's real fate that is unknown now was probably the part that got tampered in Irminsul/the record in general/both. As even if Eberhart was a despicable person, he was the true conspirator of the rebellion against the aristocracy. (this implies he's involved with the forbidden knowledge or some kind later down the line, but that's unimportant in this context).
      2) Eberhart never killed the blue-eyed spear witch. That part was tampered either by someone via Irminsul, or by the records, or by the witch herself, or by Eberhart himself which Venti acquiesced. The witch fled to Snezhnaya, where her fate is unknown (either she is Skirk, or Childe's mother/ancestor, or both, we don't know).
      Reminder that Venti and the Tsaritsa used to be good friends, before they fell out of favor. Back then they were still friends. So it made sense for Venti to ask for her favor.
      a) another possible twist was that he did kill her, but it was known and let to be by the blue-witch, or it was consensual between them.
      3) However this had turned out, this was the main motive the Gunnhildr taking the side of the rebel, after the "failure" of Eberhart and his lover Priscilla. The Gunnhildr was always closer to the military side of Mondstadt (the side that Venti lied to) + there was really no reason to keep up with the aristocracy, now that the aristocracy was totally paralyzed due to losing Parsifal, and then Ingbert and Eberhart. The relationship between the Gunnhildr and Eberhart's faction never got ruined, since they knew of the truth.
      4) and all in all, Venti prob knew and chose to neglect this condition, deciding to let Eberhart self-destruct the aristocracy from within, before then he chose his "prophetess", his champion to swoop in.

    • @reveriesend4668
      @reveriesend4668 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      btw, hounds and wolves are always a thematic close to Mondstadt due to their mixed heritage with Andrius. One such instance was that of Rostam (Rosalyne "La Signora"'s lover, who died in the cataclysm 500 years ago) was known as the "wolf's pup".
      another one, ofc, is Razor, who is just Jungle Book.
      so having Eberhart getting allegory as a "hound" via Dietrich either tells the truth of his fate after the tragedy in Dragonspine, or his origin, instead ("illegitimiate child", reminder).

    little late to the game, but has anyone pointed out that the blue-eyed witch is probably ivanova of the hexenzirkel? you know, the only witch we know of that seems to have some ties to schnezniya, the russian-based region? and that further inspection shows that her and parcival's doomed love story mirrors that of jason of the argonaughts and princess medea, high priestess of hecete (aka the goddess of witchcraft, and therefore a very powerful witch herself), of greek mythology? i bring this up only cause i literally watched this vid back-to-back of your hexenzirkel rundown, and kinda connected the dots from the small lore-tidbits we have of both parcival and ivanova, and (given your theory craft for nicole) further wondered what that potential mythological connection could tell us about ivanova's possible role both within the zirkel, and within the larger metanarritive for genshin. personally, i think she's playing distraction for the zirkel, since medea was often depicted as dangerously clever, and prone to using deception and distraction to fell her enemies. maybe she's using both herself and possible childe/maybe the fatui as a whole to distract celestia while her sisters work in the shadows she's casting? thoughts?

  • @mini-mei
    @mini-mei ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I had a theory that Childe was originally from Mondstadt because of the talent books, but my theory was far more simplistic.
    It seems the fatui are filling their ranks with orphan children. Specifically orphan children from other nations. It was even hinted at that the fatui might be the ones that made them orphans in the first place.
    We hear about this recruiting of foreign children first in the Inazuma quest chain about Gendou Ringo's strange fortune slips, and it was mentioned also in the quest chain with a group of fatui during the second appearance of the golden apple archipelago. During this (sadly event locked) quest we found out, that these orphaned children refer to each other as their siblings, which would explain why Tartaglia has "siblings".
    So I theorized that Childe might very well be one of these orphaned children that were taken in to be made into fatui.

    Talking about "Hound", so this is probably useless information, but since you once talked about Mona and her ability to see the fate from ones constallation. I have a official Mona-Stand from mihoyoverse as a little merchandise. It's a two part stand and it has a ring around Mona in the background that shows...animals, but they remind me of constallations, since there is a lion (Jean's constallation) and a falcon (Diluc's constallation) and a dragon (???) and, well, the a wolf (it looks like one). It's probably just random icons but when you said "hound" and Mondstadt, I noticed my Mona on my desk. 😅
    Again, I think it's useless information bc merch probably isn't as deep and they just throw something on it. But the comment at least boosts the algorhythm. 🥰
