You are right, code 2 means respond quickly, no lights and sirens. I think people are watching too much GTAV police mods and assuming they know what they are talking about.

In Glynn County, Georgia the fire department also had a volunteer crew. This is coastal Georgia and includes Saint Simons Island, Sea Island and Brunswick. The volunteer dept was 55 personel. Aside from a little bit of training, the volunteers were allowed to have a red light and siren, in their personal cars. Can you guess where this is going? Pretty soon, these volunteers are speeding, code 3, down busy streets in the city of Brunswick, to pick up their kids or just for fun. Saint Simons is a very congested Island year round. Often grid locked in the summer. A genuine problem, except if you have a code 3 set up in your personal car. Complaints poured in and the volunteers had to remove the lights and siren. 40 of the 55 quit.

Gregory Johnson Uh Code 3 means lights and sirens but not going 10 over the speed limit. You *CAN* go over the speed limit by 10, if need be. So while your response isnt wrong its not exactly right either... :P
