Oddly upgraded I actually quite liked it with the gun and gun depression, mind you this was a long time ago when it first came out and then with a mission marathon where it was the only tank I had for the Japanese section of it :)
Grinding the STB-1 was one of the worst decisions I have made in my life, not because the STB-1 is shit (it is not, it is in fact an absolute joy to play), but because of what an absolute nightmare that the tanks leading up to it are.
I have just grinded that line up to the STA with top modules and have to say: T5 good, T6 is trash, Chi-Ri is awesome in same tier and better mm, penetration sucks though and the STA is one of the better T8 mediums with a fucking horrible stock grind. Good luck and use all the free xp you have saved up
One good thing about the Japanese medium line are shared modules. Guns, engines, and radios are common amongst the mediums up to tier 8. They do get good guns and decent maneuverability, but that is about it.
Speaking as someone who can't have anesthetic for dental work (it triggers trigeminal neuropathy), I would say the stock grind on the Sturer Emil rates right up there with a filling repair.
As someone who had to have both top front teeth removed without the benefit of an anaesthetic, I can only sympathise. I'm fairly certain that I left my fingerprints in the metalwork on the dentist's chair.
That's really surprising as far as well coordinated team work for the enemy Stug III and M44. Normally, as most average WOT players can verify, the Stug would go cap and the arty would be screaming commands as the backseat commanders they tend to be at times. "GO CAP!" "NO CAP, KILL ALL!" "FIND THEM!" "SAVE ME!" But to have arty go cap was a smart move, as the map lent itself to allowing the M44 being able to slap Mistercro from either bases. To Mistercro, condolences and congratulations in the same. You fought a good battle with everything stacked against you and you were kicked in the shins right at the end. You didn't deserve that result after that effort with that much resistance in the form of your on vehicle. But you've displayed an amazing amount of skill with the tools (or lack there of) you had in the moment. Great game, disheartening result, but prestige display of talent.👍
11:54 the moment that lost him the game. He lost 4 seconds by doing the same thing a 2nd time. One moment of indecisiveness and at the end of the game, 4 minutes later, those 4 seconds are missing to aim properly... Captain hindsight out.

What's even wierder is that america is so big that 3:22 for you is 12:22 for me and for a short 2 hours and 59 minutes your in the future while I'm still on the previous day on top of that you all wake up at 7am to start you day while it's 4am here and everyone is still sleeping. Makes you feel so small when you stop to think about it.

Because I grinded all the lines simultaneously I never really felt effected by stock tanks (play them for first daily win then move on) so my memory of this, the VK and other bad stock tanks are not tainted. It is a good side of doing it that way the main problem is you never really get into a grove with a tank until after you finish the grind and just play it for fun.
I've had three very painful grinds with stock tanks in WoT. The Chi-To, the VK 100, and the Panther II. The worst was the Panther II followed closely by the Chi-To, and not really close was the VK 100. At the end you get a POS Panther II, a below average Chi-To, and a quite enjoyable VK 100. But I still do have the Chi-To and VK 100.
in addition to a great rate of fire, the turret traverse is pretty nice. perhaps because he had the high ground, it flattened the angle enough that the matilda could no longer penetrate?
I have both had a tooth pulled without anesthesia, AND suffered through the VK 30.01 P stock grind. I can assure you Jingles, they both hurt the same, but the stock grind lasts much, much longer.
@1:40 Looking at the stock Chi-To vs stock T28 (american td), I would happily play the Chi-To. You have about 150% the speeds on h/m/s terrains while having a far greater backup speed. Yes 10.04 P:W (Chi-To) < 11.32 P:W (T8) but the T28's ground resistance is killer. That also includes far worst tank traverse in the T28 and the Chi-To looks enjoyable (with less exp to grind for your upgrades). Not like I will install the client again to try these in person. Maybe WG could fix new player experience; some day lol (a decade later and I’m still wondering if any of the devs played stock tanks long term). Dont remember the VK30.01 P being that poor. At least currently its slightly more nippy than the T28 and has significantly less experience to grind.
You do know that the reason for armoured infantrymen was that there was a need to get these tanks up to speed by pushing them from behind, forming the symbiosis of "protection for speed".
Well, at the time the VKP had no engine, no tracks, no view range, no armor and the gun had a tremendous 96mm penetration and you needed a minimum of TEN THOUSAND (or FIFTEEN) to be able to fit the upgraded 128mm pen gun and of course after that you had to research the 88L56. Because you needed to unlock, the turret, the tracks before putting any real gun. Of course you were in an even worse brick since you put so much more weight without the engine... Plus the fact your entire hull side was "Hey! shoot here there is ammunitions!" the front/rear being "hey shoot here I can catch fire!" But you also had the AMX12 and 13 75. A scout without view range, without mobility neither speed and of course a puny gun + no gun depression AND elevation. And bonus, when you were shot at, you lost most of the time engine, driver and trackS and if lucky didn't catch fire,because why not, or if you were very lucky just went with turret stuck, munitions jammed and ppl in turret dead. And you also had the IS-4 and VK4502B where you could end with a very bad gun IS-4 ending with D-25T...
IIRC, it is literally impossible to be stuck with the D-25T on the IS-4. You HAVE to research the M62 to research the IS-4. Also god yes the stock 12t was awful. 100mm of pen on a T6 tank. "Just get the sides" by Tier 6 most tanks have more than 100mm of side armor! And it means you'll get really stupid bounces while fighting off enemy light tanks that just don't happen with other T6 light tanks. And yes, both the 12t and the 13 75 caught fire on me *a lot*. The other frustrating thing about them for me was I had *awful* RNG with my shots in them. There was one time in my 12t (fully upgraded by this time) where I went to finish off a one-shot IS who was all by himself. I even had APCR loaded and the entire clip with like 200mm pen bounced off of his rear, and then he nuked me while I was trying to run away.
You don’t know a stock tank grind until you’ve got the ST-1 before the IS-3 and you have to use the IS’ gun at tier 9 in a turret that can be penned by T7s
The M44 definitely tipped the scales. With RNG of course, but then again between 2 players on their ace game, player ability is generally behind RNG in what determines the final outcome... situational skill generally falls behind other minor factors as well... such as who has got the blatantly better vehicle... or has gold loaded...

Remember a stock T-34-2 is a tier 8 medium which is already underpowered when top But stock you have: T-34-1 turret 128 AP pen 172 APCR pen (tier 6 gun vs tier 10 tanks) you first need tracks to equip the turret to equip the gun you had at tier 7 at least you have the same engine
Stock Chi To is an exercise in what would happen if someone put a 4-banger (4 cylinder engine) in something heavier than a Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero...

From personal experience, the single worst stock grind I’ve ever had the displeasure of undertaking was the E75’s. That tank stock (about 6 years ago) was totally unplayable. That Tiger II turret with the 88 on tier X games was an utter nightmare. That coupled with the stock engine, that grind nearly made me wuit the game.
to be honest, if you can spare the 600k for suspension equipment, its *a bit* easier. Otherwise, prepare for a ~30k exp grind for both tracks and turret (stock one has next to no armor) and then there's the fact that you're stuck with Black Prince's gun for another ~15ish thousand. And then there's the engines
@Markus Der Auslander the turret upgrade makes it playable, if gold spam-y. After the gun upgrade, you are pretty much golden. Also, a nice thing to note; most of the engines transfer to the medium branch, so that makes them a bit easier to grind as well
Playing stock tanks is the ultimate challenge, I had an Ace tanker the other day with the tier 8 Indian Panzer , completely stock , luckily enemy team was full of potatoes
oh jingles...you should have tryed the ST-1 stock...about as maneuverable as a maus...close to the same speed...and penetration that some tier 6 tanks have...its the 122mm with 175mm pen...god awful...at tier 9 no less...and you cant use the better 122mm guns till you have the turret...but you need to suspension first so you cant even get the turret first to more armour and health...it was painful when i did it years ago...i cant even begin to imagine what it must be like now for the poor buggers

i dont remember the stock vk grind however i do remember the stock t-44 grind. the 144 mm pen gun goes brrrr at tier 8

I really enjoyed the chi-to. the top gun is actually quite good, and is handy with the top turret. its alright. could be worse

Playing stock tanks is the ultimate challenge, I had an Ace tanker the other day with the tier 8 Indian Panzer , completely stock , luckily enemy team was full of potatoes

oh jingles...you should have tryed the ST-1 stock...about as maneuverable as a maus...close to the same speed...and penetration that some tier 6 tanks have...its the 122mm with 175mm pen...god awful...at tier 9 no less...and you cant use the better 122mm guns till you have the turret...but you need to suspension first so you cant even get the turret first to more armour and health...it was painful when i did it years ago...i cant even begin to imagine what it must be like now for the poor buggers
And meanwhile a same-tier arty gets the most damage on the enemy team and 5 kills. And a win. Disgusting.
