I would say that this music is what made the TV series, it drew people in to watch as part of the opening scene. Amazingly well played!

👍447 I love seing that tape recorder! I also had one (Yamaha MT3X) back in the days when gear was something exclusive, magic och profesionally designed instead of the cheap software toys sold nowadays. Those multitrackers cost the equivalent of $1500 today.
The music sounds wondelful and the vintage instruments bring extra authenticity! Since you are from Norway, I can say I'm a big a-ha fan (of their old albums) and "Cheerio" was a big hit in Sweden where I grew up when Swedish singer Lena Philipsson made a cover.

Thank you very much, Chris 😃 So happy to hear that you like some Norwegian and Swedish music. My grandfather grew up in Sweden too 😃 Yes, those 4-track tape recorders are really great! I luckily got it a lot cheaper second hand (about $100) some years ago 🎉

@@BenjaminDehli Did you actually use the Tascam to record this music?
      --------------------------------------------
I guess any Norwegian's great grandfather or so who lived before 1905 was Swedish! Too bad Sweden gave Norway away and lost all those future oil revenues😂It seems crazy that you are so rich and people don't need to work and could just live of the oil fund while and Swedes are used for shitty jobs. In my childhood Norway was the "little brother" to Swedes and we told all those "Norge historier" - the same you told to joke about Swedes, right?
I grew up with Fleknes and "Brødrene Dal" and "Professor Drøvels Hemmelighet" which was really scary to me as a kid with the intro and outro music.
Even though I always wanted to visit Norway and only live a couple of hours away (in Östersund which is near Trondheim), it never happened. Sometimes, when we live near a place, we get lazy and never take the time to make plans.
      --------------------------------------------
I like your experimental approach and usage of vintage gear despite being seemingly younger (based on your profile picture) than the generation X that I belong to.
In the late 1980s, I worked in a musical instrument store and it was an amazing time. I love that slim black box design (Roland S10/S50, D50, or the W30/D10 I had. The Yamaha's brown or grey were not that appealing) of the 80s and I was at the right age as a teenager to be really impressed. The gear seemed like it came from outer space and synths as the Roland D50, Korg M1 with samples, multi timbral capabilities and built in reverb were incredibly amazing!
      --------------------------------------------
At that time, old guys (like me now) sometimes came to the store and complained about modern gear and praised old analog synths. I thought they were a bit crazy as I then considered the 60s/70s gear with wooden designs and all those knobs to be old boring stone age.
But now I'm the same. I admit that modern synths sounds great but I'm too old to be impressed and because of nostalgia I prefer the old 80s stuff. As much as I liked technology back then, I never liked the idea of staring into a computer screen which is way too distracting. I even like to play instruments almost totally in the dark to focus on the sound and escape into a sonic dream world.
I'm also picky about design. From the early 90s aybths started to look like plastic toys in ugly white or silver color. Nowadays, the flagship workstations like nicer but some have way too many illuminated pads and buttons and look more like a cockpit.
Anyway, watching synths and old gear always cheers me up!

Thanks a lot, Chris and thank you for the great story 😃 Yes, everything was recorded to the cassette tape, but mixed digitally in a DAW. You can hear a bit of tape warble from the Polysix track at around 00:58 😁 And yes, we du have jokes about the Swedes here, but we do also have to work to make a living 😉

True! Even the fantastic Danish Symphonic Orchestra played the guitar a bit to lame. The same is true when people play the James Bond Theme. The guitar needs to play with a very strong attack followed by muting the string a bit so we mostly hear the attack and not the sustain.
For Twin Peaks Theme, the composer used a tuned down guitar to get that special bass guitar-like sound
The Danish ochestra's performances, audio and camerawork is outstanding but sometimes they don't get it right, especially when they use synthesizers. For "Bladerunner' which requires a sound were the filter opens quite strongly on just some notes (Vangelis used a Yamaha CS80 with aftertouch to control the filter) that orchestra uses a lame sound with fixed filter envelope (each key hit opens the filter/brightens the sound in the same way) so it doesn't create the same fat dynamic sound as the CS80 does.

@@chrismossy9774Kenny Landrum, who played the synthesizer on the soundtrack, said he used a Emulator II to create the guitar sound, using some "Duane Eddy twangy guitar" sample he had at the time.
