It's time for some ABBA live Summer night City (ABBA in concert) , will make your day ( or Weekend ) ******ABBA in concrt ABBA in Japan ABBA in Australia ABBA Dik Cavet Most likely live, with full band, +10 musicians on stage,
This one and "Knowing me, knowing you" are two favourites of mine with regards to "pop-ABBA". Then there are the brilliant "late-ABBA" songs: "Andante, andante", "I let the music speak", "Like an angel passing through my Room", "Soldiers", and the "stage show-ABBA" songs: "I wonder", "Thank you for the music". In fact, in the majority of their songs, the lyrics are as good as their music, for those who care to listen closely.
This song is pure 1970s! They trademarked the 70s Sound! I'm so glad you reacted beautifully to it and appreciate it! You brought a lot of smiles and tears to a lot of your fans! ABBA's music is like a painting. It's deep beyond the picture, the frame, the canvas, and it's intricate brushstrokes, the colors, the care, and the love.
They recorded four songs in Swedish, three in German, one in French and 15 in Spanish, as well as all of them singing a lot in Swedish in solo recordings.
Put on an Abba ballad like this brilliant loungy-cooling one,or even 'One man one woman" or "The Winner takes it all" anytime and someone could hardly realize that these songs were recorded more that 40 years ago!Their construction and their vocal tapestry is superior, still unbeatable and timeless.Hats off to their phenomenal survival and shame to all the critical voices who were trying to convince us,back then that Abba were 'commercial crap' that would be digested and vanish in time.I wonder how many of some of today's acts and their 'faceless" robotic autotuned stuff will be remembered and have an impact after 4 decades from now.Time will tell...or won't.
"The name of the game" these is an extraordinary song by ABBA, which has many peculiarities: 1) I think it's the first in which each of the girls sings a verse as lead voice 2) the official video was recorded at the blonde Agnetha & blonde Björn's home, because Agnetha was very late in her second pregnancy (that's why maybe she's sitting and cared for in the picture) 3) "The name of the game" was released in October 1977, two month before "ABBA The Album" and the premier of the film "ABBA The Movie" It was a bold gamble from ABBA, it opened their horizons and spread beyond pop. I think that "The name of the game" (1977) have some vibs of influences of BEATLES songs like "Penny Lane" or "Fool on the hill" (1967) curiosly, "The name of the game" was #1 in UK (4 weeks) and replaced in the #1 for "Mull of Kintyre" by Paul McCartney (ex-BEATLES member) "The name of the game" is in my opinion a masterpiece one of the Seven Wonders of ABBA (in chronological order): Waterloo S.O.S Dancing Queen The name of the game Chiquitita The winner takes it all Don't shut me down You have fantastic songs in "The Album" (1977) to react, ABBA's most versatile album: "Eagle" almost 6 minutes amazing Take a chance on me (the banger hit) "One man one woman" (beauty ballad) "Move on" (fantástic chorus) "Hole in your soul" (powerful rock) included a mini musical from 1977 Tour: "Thank you for the music" (ABBA hymn) "I wonder" (dramatic ballad) "I'm a marionette" (progresive rock) I hope to see you soon in more ABBA videos A big hug from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 South America
This is one of my all time favorite ABBA songs along with “Knowing Me, Knowing You”, “The Visitors (Cracking Up)” and “Lay All Your Love On Me”. The stellar studio production on “The Name Of The Game” is what always stands out for me whenever I hear it and it elevates an already gorgeous song to a higher level. I could never get tired of hearing this song.
There's so many elements in a very short period of time. And they couldn't extend too much or it would not be pop enough to be on airwaves. Simply geniusly creative and amazingly performers.
My favourite song out of all their single releases. It’s beautiful and I’ve always loved it. Thanks for your appreciation of ABBA and for your great reactions. ❤
Time for a change of pace from them. Try "Cassandra" a beautiful ballad about the fall of Troy, believe it or not. Or a song with Lyrics for music lovers, I think Bjorn's best lyrics, "I let the music speak" Both are Frida leads. The woman has a voice straight from heaven. They are both beautiful tunes but so much more.
Can’t believe you have done 39 Abba reviews! Have you made an Abba playlist yet? As someone said … now go to Abba live. You will be amazed. Try He is your brother and Gimme Gimme Gimme for starters. You really have so much more to discover….cant wait.
Here's a playlist I created of Chase reacting to ABBA tracks, but I only have 38 songs, so I must've missed one: th-cam.com/video/fns0fMam8OU/w-d-xo.html
Fantastic reaction to a beautiful song and a truly amazing band. Timeless classic. Thanks so much for these videos. It makes me appreciate and reevaluate these incredible songs. 🙏
A very complex yet beautiful song. Agnetha was heavily pregnant here with Bjorn and hers 2nd child Peter Christian (known as Christian) hence not spinning on that roundabout. This was filmed in their own house in Lidingo. One of my favourites.
For that quint essential Abba sound, react to "I do I do I do I do I do. " For Agneta solo its "My love my life". For Frida solo (the only complete Abba solo) it's " Like an angel passing through my room " and one of my favourite it's "Should I Laugh or cry" and finally For U.S.A's fav Abba song it's "Knowing me knowing you". All the best Nick.
If u like longer big-hit ABBA tunes you have to hit up "Eagle" - studio version 1977. There's an official video from the movie "ABBA - THE MOVIE"...but I think it removed the original guitar solo. This is the one that sparked the huge American rumor in 1977 that ABBA wrote this tune in tribute to the band the "Eagles". Not true of course but it gives a sense of how big both bands were at the time.
It might be an idea for the future if you recognise and comment on the lyrical content/what the song is actually about as well as the melody just to show you're taking it all in. ABBA's songs may often appear light and simple but there's complexity there too. Their songs are masterful stories about the human condition.
Chase, I adore ABBA. They have been/provided the soundtrack to my life. But I have another group for you to check out. Silverwind, also called the `Christian Abba`. For starters, please check out A SONG IN THE NIGHT, CINDERELLAS DREAM, and ELYA. If you like ABBA, you will also like Silverwind. Keep up the good work, Chase. And I look forward to more of you reacting to some of the best music ever made.
I'm pretty sure I've done this on another Name Of The Game reaction vid, but can I bore with a couple of useless pieces of trivia about this track? Firstly.....this song was #1 in the UK charts from 5th November to 2nd December 1977, which means it holds the honour of being number 1 on the 25th anniversary of the UK music chart. Secondly....in 1983 the brilliant horror writer Stephen King released a novel called Christine, and that novel was followed a few months later by a truly superb (in my humble opinion) film adaptation. And Name Of The Game features in that film. It's a very brief "you almost miss it" appearance, but I can 100% guarantee it's there. One of ABBA's best. Absolutely. Aggie's angelic voice, that subtle trumpet, the sudden tempo and mood/feel changes.......blinding stuff.
Here's a playlist I created of Chase reacting to ABBA songs. "Happy New Year" is at #7 and "AngelEyes" is at #21. (But I think I missed a song coz I only get 38, not 39!) th-cam.com/video/fns0fMam8OU/w-d-xo.html
It's deals more with a lonely woman's hesitation and insecurities to trust and open up to a love affair. 'I have no friends,no one to see and i am never invited/ I was an impossible case no one ever could reach me/ If i trust in you, would you let me down?Would you laugh at me?...
I hate watching the video to this as Agnetha picks her nose twice and that really disgusts me as she is touching, then throwing the dice afterwards, vile. Totally ruins it for me.
This is one of their most complex and briliant songs!

An amazing sophisticated song by ABBA ! Number 1 in UK during 4 weeks 💯💯💯💯
The best lyrics too 😃
I concur with Marco below. This is my ALL TIME favorite ABBA song! Love that you Love ABBA Chase :-D
abba has also recorded songs in Spanish. very worthwhile
They recorded four songs in Swedish, three in German, one in French and 15 in Spanish, as well as all of them singing a lot in Swedish in solo recordings.
@@aperinich I love the Gracias Por La Musica album
Abba was some of the best produced music coming out of Europe in the 70's. Their records always sounded impeccable.

Aren't they just! (amazing)
Yay! Was waiting for this reaction. Love it 👍
My favourite Abba song. So underrated at the time.
When I sing this to myself it's always Frida's part. It lifts a very good song to magnificent.
4.46;- totally agree she is the best vocalist ever in my opinion followed by Frida

The name of the game

This song was later sampled by the hip hop trio the Fugees. The very first time ABBA allowed an artist to sample one of their hits
This is a true masterpiece, so complex, catchy and groovy at the same time. I could listen Frida's acapella solo parts for days.

One of my faves. I love the playful, semi-candid video, from a time when both couples were still married and seems like happy times coming through❤

Number 1 in the UK for 4 weeks (Nov/Dec 1977) - the only country where it reached the top spot, I believe.
1977 when this released after Knowing me Knowing you brought ABBA to a new audience with it’s more complex and adult themed songs.
Another great reaction.Me and my partner Scott got married to this song in the beautiful setting of the Hermitage in Scotland ❤
