rounderhouse video jumpscare! was a blast writing this one. burnley estate was part of the HARBINGER II project, an anthology of interrelated horror stories all about the idea of NOTHING, holes in reality. you should check out the others if you liked this, or maybe some of the other articles about the Burnleys. they’re a fucked up ol’ family!
I love the idea that an MTF crew has been to every major haunted house in America and, given we know of them, promptly found nothing of lethal importance and dipped.
The idea of even ghosts and revenants being scared of - or at least worried about - the inevitable degradation into nothingness drives home the rising feeling of dread throughout the story. This is really amped up with the double meaning behind the repeated phrase, "There's nothing to be afraid of in the dark."
@@tsubaki4106 What are the completely avoidable circumstances? No more Burnleys being present in the estate? Because the way I read it, the changes were due to the harbinger.
It's very Wraith: The Oblivion. Though this it does the themes a bit better since it doesn't have all other post-apocalyptic ghostpunk setting loosely stapled to it like Wraith.
Big ups for thoroughly exploring skips beyond simply reading the article out loud, but what really impresses me is how you always manage to find a badass picture that goes perfectly with it lol

As someone who was never into Warhammer or Audiobooks it's nice to see SCPs still getting some love. Each to their own, of course. If he explored aspects of something he didn't like purely for the algorithm it wouldn't be as enjoyable. Hell, I kinda want to try this myself with a different media universe after watching so many of these.
I never had any interest in warhammer, and still dont as a game, but i started listen to TES warhammer story videos and theyre really enjoyable, rich stories. Ill probably never play it, but i bet ill learn the whole story, or as much as i can. Might be worth a shot
Warhammer has a crazy expansive world about as big as the SCP world. There is some really dark stuff too. If you like the weirdness of SCP then you'll definitely like Warhammer lore.
This place is fascinating. On the one hand, I'd be super down to have a house like what the Burnley's had, with a friendly haunting. Of course, if it could turn the way that this one did....
@@WobblesandBean Holes where their memory was. But only after they'd started to turn bad, likely due to the influence of that last Burnley and whatever eldritch thing he may or may not have summoned.
Harbinger - God of Gone - The Empty Skin! I love that one and I fantasize about an Exploring Series/Volgun crossover in which Volun reads Agent Donbry with an Irish accent, and ES reads Flanagan just as he did for his video. The chipper and friendly yet snarkily bureaucratic Flanagan vs when it becomes The Entity showcases how good ES has become with his voice acting. Setting that against Volgun's talent and ability to emote via voice (see his reading of The S.S. Somerfeld) would be an amazing thing to listen to. I LOVE your videos, ALL of them; you are my favorite TH-camr.
It reminds me of The Stars Do Not Wait For You (SCP Foundation Tale). Thevolgon channel does a very good dramatic reading of the story it's one of the SCPs that leave me feeling hollow at the end.

Not finished with the video yet, but this might now be one of my favorites you've covered! Taking something standard, like a haunted house, and then twists it over and over. First with how there's dozen upon dozens of different spirits, then how they're all family and were there for the next generations of said family, followed by somethin occurring which leaves whats left as more traditional scary ghosts. Combine the lingering questions raised by the article with the fact that this is actually part of a larger series of stories, it's amazing!
“I do not like to imagine a world in which that anchor no longer exists, Abe so I shall not.” And then playback abruptly cut out for me. Now that’s timing.
I think that it would be a grate idea for you to release these as a podcasts too. I listened to them to fall asleep and would love to be able to listen without the videos at night. Keep up the good work love all your vids and love the new 40k content.
Really enjoyed this one. I don't think much of the redefinition of the word "ghost" for this tale, but that's a minor quibble; this tale is a powerfully Lovecraftian enigma that really captured my interest. The idea of a ghost being twisted into something horrific, or destroyed by something which can kill the dead and leave a corpse of a corpse...it's out there, and would fall flat from the pen of a lesser writer, but Rounderhouse continues to show exceptional talent and make very interesting choices. Not a huge fan of the direction RH went with Mamjul-Koror, but I'd love to see more work in this vein.
I SWEAR I've heard TES talk about this one before.. I had many moments where I remembered the things he talked about (tree with man, disemboweled corpse in Feast room etc).... Still a good listen!
>the medium speaks with the ghost/spirit >they both chit chat a little >no activity has been recorded from the spirit/ghost since that medium deserve a rise, or at least a vacation
I like the stories you do about ghosts and creepy places and stuff like that, to this day one of my favorites is Jasper's Hill. I would love to hear more stories or SCP or even myths and legends from 40k (although that universe is more vague and blunt about stories like that since you can explain everything with "warp fuckery" at play). Regardless tho, you have a talent for this stuff, cant wait to see what your next project is.
I wonder how many by now realized The Burnley's Estate sorta proved that the researcher behind Incident 1337-(Redacted) was right about how to neutralize SCP-1337 the Hitchhiker but was wrong on what 1337's anchor was and killed 1337 parents and burned down their home for nothing.
I don't normally comment, but I'm very glad to see coverage of another one of the HARBINGER II SCPs. SCP-6274 is one of my favorite entries amongst the ten of the anthology, and at the risk of coming off somewhat pretentious, HARBINGER II has been one of the more oddly compelling collections of writing on the SCP Wiki, in my honest opinion, with how vague but surreal and unnerving all the SCPs are written. I would definitely not mind seeing another HARBINGER II SCP covered. Maybe even as a general video since some of the entries are more brief but just as strong in terms of their content, like SCP-6272, plus I feel there's some ways that the overall narrative of the anthology can be interpreted, but I'll leave it at that.
"There is *nothing* to be afraid of in the dark."
Once you realize the double meaning, that's when the horror really sets in.

It’s not “inevitable”, this all happened due to completely avoidable circumstances. It’s a cautionary tale.
