No I think they have a good writing team that keeps things fresh. You can see the evolution of the challenges and punishments from season 1 all the way till now. I'm sure the Jokers do a good amount of contribution but I think they have other writers behind the scenes.

Some of the punishments are pretty milk toast but when they get down and dirty, it often falls on Murr it seems. Like getting crazy piercings vs a haunted corn maze for example. Still love this show though!

The chances of Q and Sal losing in the same episode are extremely rare. That makes it so that Murr can't do the same punishment to them. He should trick them into having a punishment episode with previous punishments so they can get his worst ones.
This is why Murr's my favorite-- he's the underdog, always the butt of the other guys' jokes (so to speak, lol) I know they wouldn't be able to take half of what they put him through. I love Sal and Q, but I want them to get their comeuppance

@@RisingSignals Murr became my favorite over time because he keeps going no matter what they do to him and he tries to do it with a smile on his face for the audience. He's done a lot of bad things in his life, but seeing him take the punishments and keep going makes me want to cheer for him. Q and Sal especially tried to get rid of him early in the series and he did his best to keep everything together. I think he eventually did win them over.

Between the prostatic exam and this one …. I feel the audience is getting more and more attached to Murr’s dark side of the moon.
I think they went a little too far with this one. Once you put things into your friend's anus, then it's kinda gone out of control. But, damn, did I laugh a bit at a couple parts. It's still kinda messed up though.

Am I the only one who think it's weird and crass? I could possibly see it being funny in the earlier seasons (still a big stretch), but now they are all in their forties with families. Such humor is not their level. They are all so creative and funny. I can't imagine that this was the best they could come up with. Putting Murr on as a live porn show is turning IJ into Jackass. It's not even funny as the audience just thought he had diarreah. This turns it from embarrasing somebody into pointless torture, that they've turned into a pastiche with other random stuff they've done before like do a panel show with a celebrity host.

The last few episodes I noticed are overly sexualized, with sexual jokes and punishments. The one with the detective murr punishment was just as crazy too. They didn't use to do this. Can't they just do funny jokes and punishments like normal like they used to? The newer episodes aren't as enjoyable to watch and I can't even imagine kids watching this whereas they could in the past seasons

I mean the punishments are part of the show but its secondary. They are friends messing with friends to the fullest extent they can. Are some of the punishments cringe and not really funny? Yes. But it’s punishing those guys the way the others thought would hurt them the worst. Idk if the actual bits/segments/jokes (whatever you want to call them) are even funny anymore but this show was great.
I think they’ve set it up great. Have a number of great seasons, go on tour, buy a few more seasons that aren’t great but the guys are likable so it worked, now Joe leaves and they get a season with celebs.
Joe comes back for one more buying another one and they can close on a good and quality note. If you understand what the punishments were for you would like the show for the first couple of seasons at the very least. After that I understand not, but these guys are great and should have one more in them if they are smart and Joe comes back.

You are right and it is sad to see that a good amount of people don't see that. There has been a distinct switch in the type of jokes, humor, and punishments they now do. It is overly sexualized, especially if you saw the detective punishment murr was almost naked (basically was) and getting spanked. Its disguising to be fair and I think it is because they've sort of gotten engulfed in that Hollywood sphere with their success. I don't know what Murr has been up to these last few years, but this is definitely a punishment that has gone too far in terms of television portrayal. Like you said, he may enjoy it, or not in which case it is sexual abuse. It is literally sexual abuse masked as a punishment on tv that he has no choice but to accept. They may as well have done an episode sticking vegetables up there; it would have been the exact same thing. Either way, this is not the same show and not suitable for the impractical jokers core audience.
