I so love this piece. I was fortunate to play principal clarinet with an amateur orchestra years ago and we played this piece. It changed me as a clarinet player. Not overly technically challenging but my expressivity as a player improved quite a bit I think. I never knew how much Brahms loved the clarinet. Bravo performance. Favorite Movement: Adagio non troppo III. Some of the movements featured the clarinet more but that movement has the most beautiful melodies. I remember thinking there isn’t any music more beautiful.
- I. Allegro molto (0:10) - II. Scherzo. Allegro non troppo (13:04) - Trio. Poco più moto (15:57) - III. Adagio non troppo (20:44) - IV. Menuetto I (33:33) - Menuetto II (34:54) - V. Scherzo. Allegro (37:24) - Trio (38:40) - VI. Rondo. Allegro (39:58, end in 45:40)
This is what Brahms gave us because he didn't think he was yet worthy to write "a symphony!" The orchestra gives a sensitive and bright performance of this gem.
For a young man and up-and-coming chamber orchestra to start this work invoking shades of Kertesz and Abbado promises an interesting ride ... We're not let down.
The only thing you wouldn't expect to find in a chamber orchestra is four French horns and two Trumpets. May I point out that there was a chamber version of this Serenade which is, I gather, never performed anywhere. From version 1 we have the Serenade as we know it today. Parts of it belong to Bohemia and other bits are quite introverted. An intriguing mixture.
Creced this is Brahms inspired by the Classical style of Haydn and Mozart. The music doesn't sound like that of the two great Classical-period composers, it's pure Brahms and it's just wonderful.
Thanks very much, @Faust Chamber Orchestra, for this fine performance and the YT post. Movement 3 is my favorite. I first heard it on a classical sampler CD distributed by Gevalia. Took me a long time to warm to Brahms, but he's one of my favorite composers now.

Me too, but I played second oboe.
Brahms practicing for the composition of his first symphony!
I’ve loved this incredibly joyous piece for sixty years. Now more than ever. Makes me glad I have ears! Great performance, too- these guys get it!
I’ve loved it a bit longer (I’m in my 80’s) but it has stayed fresh. A voice from his (and our) youth!

Merci!!
Thanks!
Many thanks for providing these time stamps.
Grazie!
This is a serenade in name only! This is really a mini-symphony by Brahms! 😄😄😄😄
It's pure joy too see all these young musicians! And of course listen to them
I never tire of watching the wonderful bassoonist.
Same! She's very expressive.
OMG this orchestra is out of this world. What a rendition!
Exceptional interpretation! Clarity, precision and freshness!
Great piece, but I can’t put up with 30 ads.
Very nice! Wonderful job by orchestra and conductor!
That was a great performance!! Thank you!
Nate Saunders not a perfect performance, but better than quite a few of them I've heard.

an unforgivable number of ad-breaks, sometimes in the middle of movements.
TH-cam is incapable of shame ...

Best rendition of the slow movement I've heard. It can easily drag.
Good job on this piece. In particular, they got the tempo right. Most versions race through it, but this takes time to explore the beauty of the work.
Big sound when needed, but also the subtlety that comes better from a chamber orchestra.

Mon Dieu, que c'est beau !!! en particulier la fin du second mouvement, divin !
bella y sublime interpretación
Very beautiful melody. Thanks ❤😊
Excelente. Bravo 💪💪👌
a truly wonderful performance of a spectacular piece of music
composed in Detmold
I like this orchestra a lot!
with a french horn to make your heart melt
Ads kill the moment
Espetacular! Grandioso!
What an incredibly beautiful flute solo at the end of the 3rd movement.
Me gusta ese "género " menor de la Serenade en la estela qué abrió Mozart.
Not sure if I'm right but this orchestra seems to have a reduced string section.
Much more profound with a chamber Orchestra.
super !!!!!
No se perquè aquesta peça gairebé mai la programen. És una de les mes boniques i es trist que es senti tan poc
Proprio bravi!
I have this portrait of Brahms age 20 in my hallway.
This is fantastic work. In my opinion, String part should be increased as wind and metal instruments are larger sounds than Strings.
More like a symphony than a serenade. Sybil Fawlty didn't call his music 'that racket' for nothing...
I didn't know Justin Timberlake played the flute too. 😂😆
Комплименты, ребята!
what on earth does this comment mean??
Strings should be better!
Well played. The piece reminds me of Beethoven. There are better pieces of Brahms.
Justin Timberlake, on the flute!
never conductor has been more useless...
the orchestra is really good.
maybe the horns ...
Did you have a sleepless night, mate? Why so sour?
@@jbut1208 no. no sleepless nights. I have two ears and two eyes.
Idiot.
アクリルアミド
what on earth??????????????
The serenades are Brahms’ absolute worst works.
