Not my favorite album lyrically but a banger of an LP nonetheless. I always skip Crooked Young but I don't think it's good enough to not skip in the first place lol
Yeah that’s true, but this was the first time it was very personally directed at the faith itself. Like other songs like house of wolves talking about hypocritical leaders, and him not accepting blind faith, was fine. Not my favorite but those lyrics we could chalk up to as just opinions. This lyric was very much purposefully being disrespectful towards our faith, and us who believe it. That was the issue. We never cared that he was atheist.
@ I’m sorry feel offended by the statement, Personally, I can’t speak on behalf of Christians because I’m not religious, but for the sake of discussion: why don’t individuals who are offended by certain music simply avoid listening to it, instead of trying to change the artist or their lyrics? For example, most non-religious people don’t spend hours listening to sermons or getting offended by every comment made in them-like being told their entire way of life is a sin or that they’re destined for hell for simply living their lives. These messages are often directed at the ‘sinners’ even though they aren’t part of that belief system. Similarly, if someone chooses to listen to an atheist artist who openly identifies as such, the artist’s words likely hold no religious meaning or intent of offense. For those who don’t share the belief system, the words might just seem empty rather than sinful or offensive.
@@CoverBrazilian Um Crooked young is also call out christian faith? Sugar honey ice and tea 'you can tell the messaih his pants are on fire?', in the dark 'don't swear to god jesus christ your so damn cold', crucify me, AmEN!, and Blashemy are great examples that call out christian faith.

Also, context aside, if someone would just say something along the lines of those lyrics, shouldn't you feel sorry for those people, instead of getting offended? Whatever judgement would fall, it would fall on them, not you. I am just really confused as to what exactly is there to get offended from when it comes to faith.

He explained the meaning of the song in the interview as well some time later, not only in the comment section, and it makes perfect sense, even without explanation, the context of the song heavily implies what Oli made more obvious.
If you have faith in Jesus, what does it matter what anyone else says about Him. Also, context aside, if someone would just say something along the lines of those lyrics, shouldn't you feel sorry for those people, instead of getting offended? Whatever judgement would fall, it would fall on them, not you. I am just really confused as to what exactly is there to get offended from when it comes to faith.

I did not really care when he did it(it just felt like edgy teenager bs. It was like that disturbed mommy part that just felt out of place. I just cringed at that part but that was it) but how he tried to play a victim after did make me laugh little bit.(Smart move to not show it)That whole him responding thing was obvious damage control because i am guessing he did not realize that so many people would have problem with it. I guess he forgot that Muslims respect Jesus as a prophet and since Oli is wokey he can't offend them because palestine and stuff.
you know i can accept anti-religious hateful lyrics if the song is good. BMTH aren't doing a good song for like 4 years
They have literally never been better
@Dyl-q9b you think so cuz you're probably a slaughter to prevail fan and you don't like softer music)
Yeah Christianity is disgusting so can’t blame them at all. Any hate directed at Christians is a feat thing as far as I’m concerned
If you’re aiming hate at a group of people, are you really better than the ones you hate?
@ yes. Imagine saying that to a Native American after their tribe was genocided. Or saying it to someone who just got out of a concentration camp and said they wanted to kill nazis
@ well, I am Native American. And I agree, my ancestors were treated extremely inhumanely. But I’m not going to give into the hate and wish for my oppressors to keel over and die. I have to do better than that to ensure the cycle doesn’t happen again
