Ha ha! Well, you can thank them for their patience as we took so blooming long to get off and let you all get home! Thanks for the chat and you never know what the future might hold... :)
Stunning, in my job I have driven all over Europe but never been to the Scottish islands, the only place that compares to them is Northern Norway. Fantastic video and thanks for showing. What a great bike and Dougal is a super companion.
Had a rather crap day at work, I was tired and grumpy... Then saw Your dog in a bandana and sunglasses... Equilibrium has been restored... Thank you Andrew
Dougal Seems to be the most chilled out dog i've ever seen, wish my pooch was like yours, great video, seeing places i will never get to see in my life, Thank you
Oh Yay, Andrew. Another great video. I was thinking about you yesterday as I was walking up to get the mail. So glad to see another Excellent post from you. My god, Scotland is beautiful! I just died to see Dougle in his red scarf & suneglasses / goggles. So, so cute. Cheers to you.
Oh Andrew! Dougall looks so dapper in his biker gear! We were travelling so fast on the bike at first that I was hanging on for dear life. Great fun! What a fabulous video. I really enjoyed it. I must, must, must come back.
What a contrast. I'm standing on an overcrowded tube while watching you enjoying so much empty space. Thanks for transporting me to another World. Keep the videos coming x
Well done Andrew, glad the rain stayed off on the Sunday and the roads were dry for your trip. I've added the challenge to my to-do-list, all the best, Bob
Fantastic vlog once again and if anything has made me want to go back for another visit to Scotland it's this. Also lovely to see how friendly everyone is and that you seem so at ease and at home with everyone. Keep up the good work.
What a fantastic vlog Andrew. Thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful views of Scotland (and brilliantly edited by the way). Enjoy yourself and I will look forward to catching up with more of your highland adventures.
Yet another fantastic vlog entry. I have just binge watched most of the 2016 ScotVloggs. I stumbled upon them while searching for information on Caledonian Way, which is a national cycle route that stretches from Campbeltown to Inverness. I have been visiting friends and family in the highlands since the early 1980's but, somehow, I've managed to completely miss out the western Isles!? These Vloggs have highlighted some of the gems I have yet to discover, so this summer I'll be heading north west in search of the western isles. Keep up the great Vloggs!
hi Andy, another enjoyable travel vid. i spent a week in 2015 doing this excellent route on my mountain bike camping along the way. i left the car at ardrossan & did the route clockwise using the excellent calmac ferries paying only as foot passenger. nice to see this filmed from a different angle anticlockwise. wish i had the view of the Kyle's above tighnabruich as you had as it was thick cloud on my visit tho it cleared out later. enjoyed this reminiscing in reverse!! you just can't beat western scotland keep it up & thanks again, Steve.
Such a magical place Andrew and best seen from a motorcycle. I can vouch for that! You got super lucky with the weather though I expect bitterly cold even if you were dry :) Andy
What beautiful scenery! I love roaming the countryside with you, you're such a great companion! and as usual, Dugal couldn't contain his excitement! thanks for bringing us along,,,,oh, and by the way,,,you're looking quite handsome in your biking gear!
Thank for sharing Andrew, I have enjoyed it so much that I moved my head in each corner. I miss my BMW but then again I cannot complain after so many touring years on them. Your little mate was not very happy on the ferry but he is an awesome company. Keep safe.
Actually he quite likes the ferry, but get out a camera and point it at him and the ears go down and he pulls that 'hang dog' face, the little so & so! :)
Thanks for this, it was fun to watch. I have some Scottish ancestry buy will probably never make it there from the states, so I really enjoy it when you take me along. And I know you probably do Dougle's headgear for his protection but the cute factor is definately an added plus. He's such a good companion for you.
Will always remember that Colintraive ferry,Andrew, and the regular journeys when my late dad refereed Bute Shinty matches in Rothesay :) As a kid I loved going over there.
Beautiful video Andrew. Most of your videos make me think "I wish I were there!" (Except the one where you had the intestinal virus for 10 days : \ ) But this one really spoke to me. I feel like grabbing my passport and joining you for a ride like that. Except the bag on my back would be full of camera gear. Photography heaven. Thanks for the journey.
Thank you for allowing us to ride pillion. Such a lovely, empty part of the world. Hope your studies and everything else are going well. You look content.
Hi Andrew, I have been subscribed to your channel for a while but I have only just started to watch your videos. Can I just say they are amazing and informative. I’m building my channel and hope one day to be as good as you. Thank you for the effort you put into your videos keep it going. Rich
Brilliant, I'm loving this set of videos. Would love to do this in the car, had several ideas of overnighter away from the van, but can't find anywhere that's willing to let us leave the van unattended for several days, I guess it's an insurance thing. Any tips re this welcome. Cheers Andrew
Another great video Andrew. You seem so much more relaxed when you are in Scotland. I would love to see the logistics of carrying Dougle around on your back please. Thanks - Lin
Thanks for the link Andrew. You and Dougle make a great team. And seeing you on your bike makes me really miss mine. Still, I've got plenty of happy memories and now YOU to "ferry" me around. (sorry for the pun) Thanks - Lin
when i was considerably younger and fitter tried that on a pedal cycle. Stated in Troon cycling up to Wemyss Bay and then round the ferries, missed last ferry of the day from Brodick so had to stay in a B&B on Arran for the night.
Another stunning video Andrew. Dougle looks very content on the bike, I'm interested to know how you keep him safe and secure while travelling, would you mind showing us?
Hi Andrew, What are the ramps like on the ferries for caravans ? I'm thinking of doing a tour of the islands. Paula and Bob Barlow. Good vlog as usual.
I made a video about the CalMac ramps here: th-cam.com/video/DGaa3cyyP60/w-d-xo.html The small inter-island ferries use fixed concrete ramps, just like the first and last ramps featured in this video. Unless you're towing a huge twin-axle you don't generally need to chock under the wheels when boarding/disembarking.
Thanks for that Andrew,l was a a bit worried about ripping the back end of the caravan off due to the steepness of the ramps my van is a single axle Swift Celebration so sounds like we should be ok.ps: Have you ever been to the isle of Great Cumbrae of Largs? Cheers Paula and Bob.
Amazing video Andrew! Scotland is truly one of the most beautiful places on Earth. I definitely want to go back there someday. I remember being in Oban and taking the Caledonian MacBrayne Ferry over to Mull - and onwards to Iona, Staffa, etc. Dougal always looks so calm when he's on the motorbike. Did it take him a long time to get used to it? Cheers!
Word has it , dreamt up by some club cyclists . if you caught the second Arran ferry and then missed the next Lochranza ferry "puncture ,not fast enough , etc " you might get stuck on Bute . If you get the first Arran ferry it's a leisurely day out on your bicycle . The ticket's only about £16 .
Never thought about having a bike in the back of a pick up, how on earth do you get it in? - i'm very tempted to get a pick up now.... sure the wife will say no! We're off to Scotland in June, tis a very long way from Norfolk
Think I'm going to have to stop watching your videos. As I've already mentioned, we are looking for our first caravan and new adventures. The suspense is killing me!! 😊
You and Dougall made my day too Andrew. I've been told not to be so selfish next time, and share you with the rest of the crew! 😐😉
Cheers Trevor! Norway is definitely on my 'List'.
Had a rather crap day at work, I was tired and grumpy... Then saw Your dog in a bandana and sunglasses... Equilibrium has been restored... Thank you Andrew
So fortunate with the flat calm water on all those crossings. Cheers.
Thanks! I did cheat and plan it around the forecast though, but I know that a man of your calibre will completely understand that :)
Dougal Seems to be the most chilled out dog i've ever seen, wish my pooch was like yours, great video, seeing places i will never get to see in my life, Thank you
Really enjoyed the video, made me homesick. I live in Canada, but there is nothing more beautifully raw than the scenery of Scotland.
Couldn't agree more!
Aww, thanks Julie!
Oh Andrew! Dougall looks so dapper in his biker gear! We were travelling so fast on the bike at first that I was hanging on for dear life. Great fun! What a fabulous video. I really enjoyed it. I must, must, must come back.
Thanks Dorothy, glad you enjoyed it :)
Dougal's expression beautifully says "Go on then, mate - explain to me what's different about *this* ferry..." Clearly loves the bike, though :-)
What a contrast. I'm standing on an overcrowded tube while watching you enjoying so much empty space. Thanks for transporting me to another World. Keep the videos coming x
Beautiful beautiful video. A man and his best friend without any shadow of a doubt....
Well done Andrew, glad the rain stayed off on the Sunday and the roads were dry for your trip. I've added the challenge to my to-do-list, all the best, Bob
Cheers Bob!
Fantastic vlog once again and if anything has made me want to go back for another visit to Scotland it's this. Also lovely to see how friendly everyone is and that you seem so at ease and at home with everyone. Keep up the good work.
Aww, thanks Oor Clurr! :)
What a fantastic vlog Andrew. Thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful views of Scotland (and brilliantly edited by the way). Enjoy yourself and I will look forward to catching up with more of your highland adventures.
Thanks Tony! It did indeed take a long time to edit, but worth it for the memory of a terrific day :)
That looks like a great outing. I love being on the water. Dougal is much too cute in his riding gear.
Great video, what a great traveling companion you have in Dougal. Thanks for the post.
Really enjoyed this vlog and the scenery was outstanding with clear skies. Thanks and more please :)
Cheers Trevor, I have plenty more footage like that yet!
Wonderful day!
I have to say that Dougal is superb as Rosie the Riveter!
Great video, looks like your dog dougle had lots of fun :)
He *LOVES* riding the bike!

That sounds like quite an adventure! Bet it was good. Glad this brought back some nice memories for you, Cheers!
Such a magical place Andrew and best seen from a motorcycle. I can vouch for that! You got super lucky with the weather though I expect bitterly cold even if you were dry :) Andy
Brilliant the pair of you make my day.
Look forward to the next one 😊
What beautiful scenery! I love roaming the countryside with you, you're such a great companion! and as usual, Dugal couldn't contain his excitement! thanks for bringing us along,,,,oh, and by the way,,,you're looking quite handsome in your biking gear!
Thanks Lyn...I'm sure that last comment was directed at Dougal ;@)
Thank for sharing Andrew, I have enjoyed it so much that I moved my head in each corner. I miss my BMW but then again I cannot complain after so many touring years on them.
Your little mate was not very happy on the ferry but he is an awesome company.
Keep safe.
Actually he quite likes the ferry, but get out a camera and point it at him and the ears go down and he pulls that 'hang dog' face, the little so & so! :)
Quite a trip. You both would have slept well that night. Beautiful place and I love that it was so dog friendly 😀🇦🇺😀
Absolutely! I was knackered after that :-)
As usual love your video Andrew. Whenever, I watch your videos they always inspire me to go myself. Thanks T 😉
Thanks for this, it was fun to watch. I have some Scottish ancestry buy will probably never make it there from the states, so I really enjoy it when you take me along. And I know you probably do Dougle's headgear for his protection but the cute factor is definately an added plus. He's such a good companion for you.
Yes, he's the ultimate cool companion! :)
Great fun video Andrew. Loved it.
Thanks Christopher!
Excellent Andrew - a lovely way to start my day, thank you.
Great video. Not many better places to be. That is on my bucket list.
Great video stunning scenery
Interesting different ferries
Cheers Steve!
Excellent video, Andrew! Looks like alot of fun chasing ferries in a beautiful part of the world :-)
Cheers, it's good to have something to chase in a part of the world where there is no railway! ;)
Exactly! ;)
You sir are living the dream. Keep it up and enjoy.
Thaks for a great video and what a lovely dog ! Super
Love these blogs! Dougal is a star 🐶
Thanks Geraldine!
Will always remember that Colintraive ferry,Andrew, and the regular journeys when my late dad refereed Bute Shinty matches in Rothesay :) As a kid I loved going over there.
They sound like great memories Mark! All the best.
Cheers Jon! Yes, you could spend days doing that trip if you took every photo you wanted to :)
Thank you for allowing us to ride pillion. Such a lovely, empty part of the world. Hope your studies and everything else are going well. You look content.
Thank you Debbie! Yeah the studies... UGH!!! Four more weeks....
Hi Andrew, I have been subscribed to your channel for a while but I have only just started to watch your videos. Can I just say they are amazing and informative. I’m building my channel and hope one day to be as good as you. Thank you for the effort you put into your videos keep it going. Rich

One very KOOL Dougle.....😊 "Cracking vid, thank's 4sharing, Andrew 👍"
Another great video. Very professional.
Thanks Mark!
I don't often comment on TH-cam vids, but this was fantastic. Nailed it!
I feel honoured! Thank you
Another great video Andrew. You seem so much more relaxed when you are in Scotland. I would love to see the logistics of carrying Dougle around on your back please. Thanks - Lin
Hmm... sounds like a good excuse for a new video! There is an old one (out of date) here: th-cam.com/video/BCbGIxYBvOE/w-d-xo.html
Wow, big respect for cycling it! Not easy on Arran or around the Kyles.
Another stunning video Andrew. Dougle looks very content on the bike, I'm interested to know how you keep him safe and secure while travelling, would you mind showing us?
I made a video a while back, but it's well due for updating. Watch this space... th-cam.com/video/BCbGIxYBvOE/w-d-xo.html
Good travel, si beatiful , and Good dog
Hi Andrew great video, scenery lovely this time of year, woof woof to Dougle.
Birmingham West Midlands
Cheers Leslie!
Hi Andrew hope you haven't got caught up in any snow.
Can't help thinking Dougal would have been happier sleeping on his own in the van whilst you did this trip?
Terrific video absolutely brilliant thanks for sharing it
You're welcome, thanks for saying so!
brilliant video pal keep them coming 👍

Hi P&B, no I've not been to Great Cumbrae. Yet! ;@)
Worth a double thumbs up!!
Cheers!
great vlog andrew dougal seem to enjoy it and what great scenery, are the roads always that quiet or is it early in the season,
I think being early in the season helped - and it was a Sunday.
Love your videos Andrew
Another Ferry good video Mr Ditton... yes sadly i went there with my word tomfoolery..
Boom Boom! :-/
the boats are so clean....
Cheers!
It took about a year to train him to ride. There's a video where I touch on it here: th-cam.com/video/BCbGIxYBvOE/w-d-xo.html
Great video as always. Looks so much fun. I will need to try it one day. Is it an actual thing? As in is the route on the calmac website?
Yes, it's a Hopscotch I believe.
We know that area very well except Bute. Not been there yet.
I only rushed through, but very different to Arran. Will no doubt head back with the 'van some day.
Never thought about having a bike in the back of a pick up, how on earth do you get it in? - i'm very tempted to get a pick up now.... sure the wife will say no!
We're off to Scotland in June, tis a very long way from Norfolk
Absolutley loved this video Andrew, I love how quiet the ferries are!
Do they do back packs for labradors? haha
I think a lab would have to ride 'shotgun' - and good luck with that! ;@)
Just given this another watch in honour of the launch of Glen Sannox today which will be one of the five ferries from later in 2018.
Yes, I've been looking at that on social media too! I'll be sad to see the Hebrides taken off the Uig triangle though :(
I went to bute on Saturday
great video, how do you lift your bike onto the back of your pick up.
Cheers! I made a video about it here: th-cam.com/video/vVORD-zhz_c/w-d-xo.html
Do you need to bring your own tie-down strap or does the ferry provide it for you?
CalMac provide all you need!
Think I'm going to have to stop watching your videos. As I've already mentioned, we are looking for our first caravan and new adventures. The suspense is killing me!! 😊
Ha ha! You'll soon be on your way to more holidays than you ever imagined :)
well done Andrew ditton
I got to islay quite a lot
Amazing.
Dougal is brilliant
He is. As is your TH-cam name, love it! ;@)
Lovely Day for it! :-)
How much did this cost? 100?
Unto the Lord belongs the Earth
And all that it contains
Except the Kyles and Western Isles
For they belong to MacBraynes
Ha ha! I shall commit that one to memory :)
Dougall is so cute and Andrew amazing videos when I watch them I want to go on a ferry ⛴
Airstream! Alright!
