    Is Serum still worth it in 2022? 🤔

    • @ndwknss
      @ndwknss ปีที่แล้ว

      Serum was the first synth I bought and now even though I have pretty much all of them, I always seem to find myself back in Serum. It's familiar, and does pretty much everything I know how to do on a softsynth. I wonder what other people think, looking forward to the comments here.

      no. vital does the same job for free (i pay for the monthly sub)

      It's called aftertouch and yes, it really does change the sound.

      Yes, of course! I use it very often. It was my first Softsynth i've bought 2019 and learned the basics of synthesis in Serum.

      for me atleast, serum is by far the most intuitive synth out there, of course there's others that can do the same/ similar job for free or for less but they just make less sense for me personally

    To whoever's interested in random MIDI notes on a budget: there is a free MIDI vst out there called Notomizer, which converts incoming notes into any other random notes within a limited range and selection, with an additional option to exclude duplicates.

    Honestly, at first I was a little sceptical because of the tips like "modulation" and "think outside the box". I thought this was going to be another surface level tutorial that 100s of other people have made. But once you got your hands dirty you blew my mind! This is top tier content, could've easily been sold as a masterclass. Thank you a lot for sharing this. :D

    Great video, as always. I don't have a microcosm, but I slapped on some Valhalla delay and Room, and it sounds super sweet. What a simple and cool approach to a space drone. I am absolutely going to be using this method. Thanks so much! Also, you call these beginner videos, but they are masterclasses in sound design. You're all too humble Chris.

    right, I am following this step by step (i'm new to ableton too but learning along with your vids as it's the style i want to do) Instead of Stepic i'm using Ubiqutous as that seems to generate random notes in a scale? what to use when you don't have a microcosm? I know it but not sure exactly what it does (apart from granular fx)
    also noticed that you always have a Production Channel Strip/curve? couldn't find that but I always put a Utility and eq8 on each. Do you have a template to always have the same eq for yours or is it just set up before you film a vid?

    • @s1gns0fl1fe
      @s1gns0fl1fe  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use the Utility Template for Ableton Live. You can learn all about it here: th-cam.com/video/DJqt7PT7O3M/w-d-xo.html

    so coool! How is the microcosm set up as a send effect? like physically..how do you hook it up to work in Ableton?

    • @s1gns0fl1fe
      @s1gns0fl1fe  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you have enough inputs and outputs you can run it in stereo through your interface! I use the “External Audio Effect” plugin to route everything. Hope that helps!

    Is there a Bouncy Notes alternative that I can use in Cubase?

    • @s1gns0fl1fe
      @s1gns0fl1fe  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure! Bouncy Notes is a pretty unique plugin. You might have a look at a Euclidian Sequencer to get anywhere close. HY-Plugins for example.

    Super basic question but how do I get Stepic and say Serum in the same effects chain? Whenever I have Serum selected and drag down Stepic it just swaps Serum with Stepic.

    • @s1gns0fl1fe

    • @s1gns0fl1fe
      @s1gns0fl1fe  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pretty sure you can use Stochas (free) or Riffer in FL Studio. If not, you can generate your sequences by drawing in notes by hand. I have a few videos on my channel about this. Check out the video "Ambient Melodies" - Hope that helps!
