    I am living in a 1995 which I bought in 1995 for $17,000 Yes! We have put about 15,000 into it over the years and very happy with it paid for with land. If mobile home manufacturers would put 2000 more into cheap things they are calling luxury it would be worth it but not 70 or $80,000 they are asking for these...lol

    I'm in Ireland, our houses are bricks and mortar, so I couldn't imagine living in a place like this. I'd be terrified it would blow away. Its my first time seeing inside one of these, its bigger than I'd thought and the kitchen looks nice.

    • @gigicostlow4414
      @gigicostlow4414 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They come in much bigger sizes too. Can even get a 2 story one. The mobile homes are tied down using heavy metal straps connected to anchors driven into the ground. The number and type used depends on the size and type of the mobile home and where you live. Areas that are known for high winds such as tornadoes and hurricanes, require more tie downs and types of tie downs than areas that don't. All mobile homes are required to be tied down according to strict codes set by our federal, state, and local governments here in the USA.

    • @jenniferrogers2624
      @jenniferrogers2624 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gigicostlow4414my childhood mobile home was a older model I think it was in the 1960's. When we moved it the county required a full concrete pad with tied down points in the concrete. Not only was it tied down on the belly of the trailer there was straps that went over the top and anchored to the concrete. To this day I have not seen another trailer tied down that way. Ive never asked my dad why it was done like that. Your comment made me think of how our was. I also wanted to add that yes there are requirements and guidelines set in place for mobile homes. But there are those that counties who dont do inspections so there for many dont do tie downs. In fact the county I live in now dont do inspections for mobile home placements on personal property. Now if they are rental homes that accepts government payments for rent then yes they are inspected. It blows my mind seeing mobile homes on bricks that are stacked taller than I am without being properly tied down.

    This is definitely a unique home. The lack of a dining room could be a dealbreaker for some, but for me, I don’t mind. The kitchen is great, but the rest of the rooms seem very small. I used to live in a mobile home, and the bedrooms were much bigger. And my master bathroom had a deep garden tub AND a separate shower. It was a 16’ x 80’.

My dad's parents had the kitchen at the front with a bar that divided the kitchen and living room area and my mom's parents had a similar plan to this one. @@terriegordon6360 I don't use a wheelchair, and although I recognize you would view the layout differently I wasn't looking at it from that perspective. I'm not a huge fan of the panel walls and would gladly pay the extra to change to drywall. Also, changing the closet rods is a no-brainer for me. My dad taught me how to use power tools and I've personally remodeled entire rooms in my house from the studs, to plumbing and electrical. Luxurious for a single-wide mobile home! I would suggest trying to have showers "walk-in" because that's what people prefer these days. They don't have to be huge...just a lower step in to avoid the big step getting in. Not having a separate dining area could be a problem for people. I have 10 adults and if you start including the significant others that's a lot of people to cram into seating area so I don't know what I would do unless setting up extra tables for those times would leave enough room for the space to be functional.. Possibilities. The addition of a little bonus area back by the first bedroom is great! Perfect for a home office for a craft area which is big these days. The bedrooms are very small. It's good you only sleep there but from the perspective of making beds that can be real tricky in a mobile home. Some of us are no longer able to navigate those small spaces. Please, when you design these spaces, consider cleaning these spaces too.

    This is a very cleverly designed floor plan. I would change the desk nook area into storage, to have somewhere to put a vacuum, broom and mop. The island is huge, so I would make it two levels: about one-third as a normal island with no seating, and on the side where the left stool is (but facing the fridge), put a drawer microwave so you don't need to take up counter space with the microwave. Then lower the right two-thirds of the island to create a table height area where four chairs can fit around it, or even five with a chair on the end. If you need to extend the island out a little further that's fine, as there is plenty of room between the kitchen and the living room. I would bring the upper cabinets in the kitchen all the way to the ceiling for more storage space (harder to reach, so for seldom-used items). If you moved the master closet to where the closet/water heater/linen are, you could easily access it from the bedroom and reconfigure the master bath to have a much bigger tub/shower with the water heater tucked away in the back corner. But overall, excellent design.

    Back in the late 70s we had a single wide specal ordered no hal mobile home that I miss to this day. Front was master bedroom with half bath, living room, dinning room, gally kitchen, with pantry and laundry, family room full bath and two good size bedrooms. Such a cool set up

    The best and most interesting MH I ever visited had 2 kitchens, and it was an incredible double wide. Off the charts for anyone who wants to bake and produce food products and baked goods as a cottage industry. Much easier to maintain industry standards, with hygiene rules/regs in certain states. If I ever see another like that I won't hesitate.

    It's lovely, I've not seen anything set up like that before. Thank you for sharing.

    You could put it over a basement. Put the heat/AC and water heater in it. Then you would have a couple more closets. You could leave the basement unfinished and finish it as you can afford.

    We bought one and enjoying the simplicity but we're going to add a surrounded awning and another conjoined bedroom with bath/shower to give more space for family and visitors. Planning on putting it on 3/4 acre lot to have a large enclosed backyard with gardens of flowers/fruits/vegetables plenty of shade trees with an outdoor kitchen and pit. Can't wait!

    Definitely like seeing the single wide homes without strips on the walls. Your videos are my favorite. Keep up the good work.

    Nice for starter home. My home has master bedroom and bath on one end and two bedrooms with bath on the other end. Living room and kitchen in middle with hidden laundry room and pantry across from back door and it's perfect! I do like the windows in the kitchen here...too bad it doesn't have sheetrock and crown molding like I have.

      I like the bedrooms together. However the master bedroom is in the back of the house so you would still have that privacy that one would want.
