You absolutely amaze me...these blow thru videos of yours are perfect for how fast you can talk. It's a beautiful painting and watching it come together is a pleasure.
I’ve been subbed for years but got away from art because of life, work, family. But now that we’re on lockdown due to Covid-19 I’ve created more art in 2 weeks than in 2 years. Painting along to all your videos I’ve missed. Stay safe. You’ve been a lifesaver.
"Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old". Franz Kafka Another masterpiece from the master herself "lindsay".this is absolutely a beautiful beautiful Masterpiece watercolor roses.Lindsay i believe the old masters are guiding your ability to draw and paint. You are dedicated in your art and every time your brush touches the canvas,"magic" happens and when folks see your paintings, something always tells them,"hey, this would look awesome in my home".Lindsay i think the grandest of all has touched you with golden dust forever sparkling from your heart.❤👍😊😀🐦
Lindsey, these are fabulous roses....the best you've ever done. I agree, the buds are too dark; but, I know you can fix them very easily. Thanks for sharing.
Oh Lindsay, I love these roses. It seems like a different style for you, sort of soft and dreamy. It makes me happy to see how successful this was for you; it gives me hope that I might be able to do this myself someday.
Beautiful!! Love the background, the splatter is perfect! The roses, OMG, the color blending, I think I liked it best before the details, it is just beautiful!!
Hi Lindsey, I must say that this looks absolutely beautiful. The flowers have such beautiful definitions and I love to see how you draw them! I hope to draw this next. Thanks for the video, it’s appreciated. well done🌸
Congratulations Lindsay on your Turner signature series! Wish this had happened 2 years ago when I was fumbling in the dark trying to start learning about watercolor painting. Lol. I have all but five of the Turner colors in that set, Mimik squirrel brushes are my absolute favorite and Fabriano Artistico is gorgeous paper for sure. Anybody starting out can't go wrong with your signature set from Jerry's artarama. 👍💙💙💙
You did a beautiful job. The buds are too dark for the flowers. I’m confident you will fix that and make this painting perfect. You are an awesome artist and an equally talented teacher. You are detailed in your instructions and information. ❤️😍
The big roses are very soft and pretty. I absolutely love the background and I never thought to use water splatter to give an impression of baby's breath - that's a neat trick. Thanks and by the way, I love roses (and strawberries)😀.
Very pretty. Now you've inspired me to make a bouquet this spring with roses and strawberries! Wonder if I can get both plants at the same time. Surprises are fun. I think painting those buds into actual strawberries would be a nice whimsical surprise. I've thought, gee, I'm so bad at drawing recognizable flowers, why don't I invent my own, a sign that whimsy is cooler than reality for me. Thank you, Lindsay.
Ohhhh Lindsay - I so so so love this! Pink is my signature colour, of course, so I love it for that too, but the soft pastel colour palette is just delicious! Those petals are perfection !!
Absolutely beautiful! I can see what you mean with the buds, but I still adore this painting! I love all of your work! Stay safe, hugs from Colorado ~Chelle
It looks beautiful and just when I thought you had them perfect you made them even more amazing. If you do change the buds I would love to see what you do, that way we can learn how to change things we are not very happy with.
I love this and the buds are pretty too they are darker in the photo and your flowers looks so delicate.. I just love this and want to use the same colors! My Bday is coming up so I think this will be a good gift to myself and i have wanted to try Turner paint.. Thank you
Lindsay I really love how you did the big flowers and the background makes it look like a "bokeh" technique which I also love. I will try this painting myself. Again like some have mentioned on here, let us know how you changed the buds. Agree that the two front buds don´t quite look like they belong but sure you can do something with them. tfs. x
Lindsay I love this painting! Definitely gonna try this. Your Turner set will be my next watercolor purchase. Your videos are fun, informative, and so genuine ❤️
This is beautiful and I enjoyed it very much. I have decided to designate April as the month I concentrate on gaining water color skills, so I'm definitely going to be using your critique club. Thanks for sharing. :)
Beautiful Lindsay, my Dads favourite flower. I paint, or should I say try to, a lot of roses because of him. If you ever feel like sharing recipes I'm sure we would love some of your vegetarian items. Thanks xxxx
I had never realized how much layering one can do with watercolour paints. When you commented about the buds being too dark/vibrant I immediately saw what you meant. However, when you put the green highlights on the right hand sepals, it toned down amazingly. The left one toned down too but I agree that is still jarringly bright. That would be the one I would be tempted to fiddle with. Still, the over all painting is stunning. I have always been so fearful/frustrated with watercolour painting. Watching you makes the process so clear that I am tempted to grab a paint set and try it again for the first time in ages. Thank you for giving me hope that one day I might just do something as beautiful as your roses. However, for now, I think I will stick to sketching and painting small bits and bobs and see what I can accomplish before I try to put it all together and a larger scaled piece. I need the practice. Thank you again for a wonderful video with such clear explanations.
Turner has such pretty colors. And it is decent quality for starters too. Price goes through the roof where I live but Jackson's has very decent prices on art supplies. For EU standards anyways.
Hey, Lindsay. Honestly, I think these are the prettiest watercolor roses you’ve ever done. And I adore the colors in the background. I never use the Myan colors from my Turner set, but I’m going to have to go see if I have that Myan blue for mixing. If you scrub out/tone down those rosebuds, I think this will be perfection.
This painting is lovely Lindsay!! It turned out beautiful! Please let us know what you decided to do to the buds. I have to admit I'm a purist and would like to see you either neutralize the strawberry color some (in the reference pic the buds are darker like you said, but not bright) or scrub some of it off. I was pleasantly surprised to see that you have a set with Jerry's now! Very cool. I have to say that Maya Blue stole my heart. I don't know if it looks the same in real life as it does on the computer, but on my computer it looks beautiful.
So beautiful my mom has a big bush of these wild roses. I love the analogy of the cupcake. I had never heard it before. When will you do your video on watercolor papers?
Very very pretty !! I was thinking strawberries before you said it. I think you toned the buds down (some anyway) by adding another layer to the flowers to give them more vibrancy. Would adding a white wash (would that be called a glaze? Idk) over the buds tone them down at all? Idk. I'm much farther behind you in water color. I'd really love to see you work through the process of fixing this. I love that you only used 5 colors..
You should make/sell a coloring book with florals. If you draw them, load them into your Scan n cut and use a waterproof pen in the universal pen holder and print them out . You could start your own line. Lol. Seems easy enough but who knows. I've been doing it with my scan n cut and coloring books I get at joanns so I dont "ruin" the original or I can use different color stories for my own personal pleasure.
Oh my my we have a movie star in our midst. Great picture on Jerry's Lindsay. Like the flowers. Worked several hours on a card, including dry time, then I stamped it embossed it and then when to clean before powder was dry. Any suggestions on saving it? Right now its in the garbage.
Thank you for this beautiful painting. I love the layering and agree about the “strawberry” buds being distracting. That Turner Mayan blue you used in the background is a beautiful color. Would you recommend painting straight from the tube with Turner or do you think it matters?
So gorgeous! I am so excited to see your signature set by Jerry’s! Are they limited time only? Or can I wait until Christmas time to buy myself a present? XD
Hi Lindsay. I agree with you on the 'strawberries', lol. I do have a question. No matter how thin I have the paint and let the layers of wash dry, I end up with a thick line of watercolor. How do I get this to end? Beautiful painting. Thank you, Theresa.
Oehhh I know what it needs. Do you have one of those big scribt background stamps? If you ink that up with a teal that is just a touch lighter then your background, that would finish it off, together with some white gouache on the rosebuds. Don't stamp over the flowers. It just need a little oompf in the background. If you want it to be pure wc just use a brushpen from winsor.
oh you got a talent I can not drawI can paint a flat wall is about all I can do I always wanted to do that but It takes the touch. Pretty. I liked your skins glue what ever that is what brought me here. I wanted to say go look for my book The Heart Speaks of Love Spirit Life and Death. It has a beautiful photo of my grand daughter. The colors are for real Somewhere in Ga. on the beach She is 5mos pregnant and she tells her story inside of how her faith was tested Starting her little family. It is a book of poems songs and short stories. The songs some are here on you tube videos. All In The Family Singers. Go sing along. thanks and GOD BLESS ALL THE WORK OF YOUR HANDS dEUT 28:12.. Beautiful! I love how honest you are about your work - what you love and what you wish you hadn't done. Thank you!
I love the thorns. They are so frickin cute and definitely define these flowers as roses.

So lovely, you are so inspiring. Hoping you and your family are well and safe.
This came out very beautifully!! I love the petal borders! Thanks!
I like the bright buds ...Love it!
Love the painting! The roses remind me of Cecil Brunners which grew in my grandmothers yard and were my most favorite! They smelled the best too.

Thank you for this beautiful painting. I love the layering and agree about the “strawberry” buds being distracting. That Turner Mayan blue you used in the background is a beautiful color. Would you recommend painting straight from the tube with Turner or do you think it matters?
I usually let it dry out first but I'd keep the black and white in the tubes as those colors are not often used and more convenient in fresh form.
So gorgeous! I am so excited to see your signature set by Jerry’s! Are they limited time only? Or can I wait until Christmas time to buy myself a present? XD

I'm not sure what you mean, is it a glossy build up? Are you using a gansai paint?
@@thefrugalcrafter After the third wash there's a glossy build up like a ridge of watercolor. I was wondering if its the binder.
Do they handle like Senellier or totally different? They seem to be more transparent...
They are very transparent, quite similar to sennelier.
PS Just call the rosebuds CONTRAST Lindsay. Tadaa. If you don't like just add some gouache :)
