Also If rdbms instance is also up and running i.e. for zero downtime then the above command will automatically do the things only on first node without affecting 2nd node and repeat the same on 2nd node while first node is up and running?

As per recommendations from oracle you should always apply latest patches. If it is not available or not applied then you can proceed but there are possibility of issues during UPGRADATION. There is possibility of issues without any patches. But if you don't have patches you can take the risk.

Thank you for asking this question. Basically this video is for 2 node rac grid upgradation. Steps which are mentioned in this video are not about standalone grid. I will share Video about standalone grid upgrade in coming days. Keep watching keep learning.

Yes please watch entire video for better understanding. It is rolling upgrade method using gridSetup.sh

You need to upgrade the grid during the lean period. It get upgraded one node at a time
