Hello Evan just wanted to drop you a line of thanks. I've watched a bunch of you videos in preparation of polishing my well under maintained Boyd Coddington billet wheels. I must say you literally lay out the blue prints for a successful polish to an average Joe like me. I followed your recommendations with buffs, compounds and polish to a tee. With that, anyone with a cheap Warrior buff like I have can achieve fantastic results. Thank you so much and go shine on!
I am glad to help. Thank you for stopping by and supporting the channel. I truly appreciate it. Sorry the audio cuts out. I had to remove some copyrighted music.
Great Video Evan! thanks for taking the time to really talk about every step!
jerryjoe28 glad to help.
Awesome videos and you take the time to reply to everyone. That’s very cool. Thanks for all the advice; I’m starting a horse trailer for a friend and just ordered some stuff you recommended for safety.God bless you and your family brother
Glad to help. I try to respond the best I can. But it can be a lot at times. Thank you for the kind words and supporting.
That's a better finish than new I guess. Fantastic results. Thanks for sharing.
Appreciate that. Thank you for watching.
thanks for the quick explanation and getting right to it....very nice work, indeed!
Sicilian Passion no problem. Hope it helps.
Great job brother the rims look amazing an the truck is beautiful. I’m tryin to get there myself. Love it
Skottink R. Thank you appreciate it.
Beautiful job!

Excellent video Evan
mrgoodtimes05 thanks bud.
That wheel is dope when your done!
Thank you
Looks awesome!
Great job
Thank you
Super clean!
Thanks for watching. Appreciate the compliment.
Incredible work, I think the scratched rims at the start looked better than mine did when new! Spare a thought for those of us in the UK, where the salted roads in Winter absolutely destroy polished rims within a few years, unless you have a very strict cleaning and protection routine.
Here in Wisconsin they get beat bad too. This video was shot in sunny California. Here in my home state the stuff is way rougher.
Great video and job!! Safety first.. keep up the great work!!
Virginia Sal thank you.
Thanks for the great video and tips.
Glad to help
amazing work boss!!!
Thank you.
I’ve never tackled this before but it seems a lot easier than going through 5-6 different stages of sanding then LSP
True
Now there's shining and there's polishing, but this is super extreme polishing - fantastic!
Thank you very much. Means a lot.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing Thank you for making the video! I've never seen aluminum polish to such a mirror-finish shine - that's a fine art! Take care!
@@markh.2899Thank you. I'll try to keep making more videos.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing That's great ! I've had the Makita professional buffer in the garage for several years but only used it a few times for polishing our vehicles - now I have more of a clue on how to apply it toward polishing my rims. Thanks!
glad you enjoyed the video.
Amazing video!
Thank you. Truly love getting to shine everyday.
Super interesting. Thanks for sharing 🍻
Thanks for watching.
Bad ass thanks for sharing seams like alot of work

Thanks man best video, you do very nice work 💪👌🤙
I appreciate that!
Good work!
Thank you
Best video yet, nice getting a complete explanation of the different color buffs and polishes.
I'm surprised he hasn't built some kind of portable tire turner with a foot controller like a trolling motor that's variable speed.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge
I've been trying to dream something up that would work for that. But haven't come up with anything that makes money or sense yet. But it is still in the back of my mind. Thank you for the great comment and idea. Appreciate the support.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I am happy you found this video helpful. Liking the idea of a portable tire turner. Thanks for the support!
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing They already exist. Look at rollers for bump starting racing motorcycles.
Or, if you don't mind taking the wheels off, circle track racers have a tire stand that spins for dressing the tire treads.
Those aren't powered, but they'll allow you to polish without having to be hunched over close to the ground.
Or just grab an old variable speed buffer, make a base out of a 2x4, and use an old buff as a drive wheel. Set it touching the tread, use a screen door spring or a rubber strap for some preload and use that for an external drive motor.
Made that look so easy 👌🏻
Been practicing for a bit. Thank you for watching.
You have pride in your work, that made you the best video I've seen. Amazing job!
Thank you. Truly appreciate that.
Nice job my friend

Here is a fast way ✅ to Polish Aluminum wheels 👀: th-cam.com/video/mem_eVxI2_8/w-d-xo.html
I agree to disagree but thank you for the great video.
Good job, I worked 20+ years restoring antique furniture, wood and metal, polishing metal and more, a set like this is totally worth the investment if you want to make some money polishing wheels, if you own a car or truck with nice wheels, it's totally justified investing in a polishing kit , practice makes perfect, practice in scrap metal, and be patient... You be so proud with the final results... follow step by step instructions..
Thank you. Much appreciated. Thanks for watching
Wow. You're a master

Wonderful job man wish you was here in Detroit
I get a lot of inquiries from that way but there are some great polishers in that area.
Awesome!!!That looks like brand new or better
Thank you!
Nice wheels
They definitely are.
Very good
Thanks. Appreciate you watching.
You could probably build a mini wheel apparatus with a foot control to spin tires for you. Just butt it up against the tire and control the speed with your foot.
Great idea thank you
Nice
Impressive!!
Thank you, happy you liked it.
"Got into some gravel" what a pavement princess. X)
Marius Hansen as much as I agree with you, if I payed that much for wheels I’d probably be anal about keeping them shinny

I WISH YOU WERE IN NC MY 22'S NEED IT BAD
I wish we could be everywhere. It's just hard to travel that far and make money.
Am I the only one experiencing audio problems in this video. Its cuts out a couple times throughout the video.
No I had to take some of the music out. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I thought the same thing to 😂
In the most important parts too lol
This is one of the absolute best restoration/polishing videos ever!! But the audio killed it for me man! I wish you could of done like a voice over or something cause the steps as well as tips and tricks that you explain during the video would of been soo much more helpful ... not sure why some of it had to be cut out.. please in the future just let us know fully each step no so on thanks man keep up awesome work
I have other how to sand and polish forged wheel videos. Some of the audio was over copyrighted music so it got muted. Terribly sorry.
Evan Steger hey man it’s perfectly ok I understand on your part TH-cam makes no sense sometimes but you did a awesome job and I’ll definitely be watching more videos

Will this work for those aluminum torque thrust? They been sitting in the weather for several years and have bad oxidation
Hi Evan, new polisher & drag racer ,67yrs. new. My 14'' weld pro star rear wheels have some large grouping of deep pits. Wondering what grit to use & which tool you would chose. Thank you , like your videos, will need some products, have lots of toys !
Hi, awesome tutorial!! How would you go about stripping a factory coat and polish a mesh wheel with tight spaces between the lace? Like the wheels they came on the firebirds?
Ryan Arroyo is use a flex head buffer to sand and polish.
Any tips or a video about alloy rims, or can be done the same as these chrome rims?. Great work by the way.
Armando Cordero these are forged wheels. They are the same process as allot.
Hi it’s a really awesome😊video. I have a question what grit number did you used on DA?
This wheel specifically was 400 and 600 grit. But each wheel is different. Some wheels need deeper and some don't need any sandpaper at all..
Great video Evan. How do you maintain new polished aluminum rims?
Tom Sommer we just use hand polish. Rebel red from goshineon.com/shop is what I use.
Hi Evan, It's nice to watch your Vlogs in You Tube. I am going to polish my rims during this lockdown period. My rims are not really bad. I just want to bring back the chrome look. Can you please advice me what are the number and brand of sandpaper I should use. Thanks
Goshineon.Com/shop
I love this type of work but it’s hard on your back. Good job, one question why didn’t you spray a light mist of water to help soften up your compound ?
Amir Abdullah I never mix water. I want the sealant in the compound to set. Not release.
What would a typical cost charge be per wheel on a set of American Force Forged wheels like this on a duallie truck ??
Those trucks have some of the best "off road" gear made on them but will NEVER see a muddy driveway less ever go off road.
Thanks for watching the video. Many people own supercars and never race them too. Respect the build and having nice things.
Wish you could do a video on how to polish an old school set of Weld Super Single II wheels .
I just did a set of those. Same process as most of the others stuff we post. Simple process.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing Alright will check out the video library of yours for the details . Thank you sir .
Hello love your video, question whenever you polish the second time w the yellow did you use that brown brick also?
Yes, correct
Bro, you did an awesome job.. I have a brown clay bar..and I'm using a cheap drill from habor freight.. I first used the brown to cut it.. then I used the white bar.. but my rims ain't "glass" like that.. What am I missing?
brokeas need more than a drill to get high gloss. You need to build up heat.
I got five spoke rims for the same reason you're using the rims you have for this video...they are way easier to clean!
Anthony Wayne I polish tons of rims. Over 11,000 last year. This style is easier.
I know, that's what I said. I'm just wondering if those huge polishing disk can be used on wheels with more intricate designs, or if there are smaller versions and different techniques used on them. =)
Anthony Wayne sure can. I use them on the daily.
Evan, where is a good place I can get hook and loop in higher grit like you’re using for the rotary and da in the video? All I can ever seem to find is 220 nothing higher that. Any and all advice appreciated. Love your work and keep the videos coming!
ahwatrudoing goshineon.com/shop we have it all the way up to 800. I only go to 600 but some still buy 800.
Evan Steger thanks a lot I’ll check it out
Hey it's that guy I saw on big rig videos.
Same guy
What grade sand paper did you use?
Question what is the difference on the final finish compound between the light blue and green? I've been using the blue compund on the final and use the green on the secondary
Manny Morales check out my video on rouge colors. The difference is the color it leaves behind.
Nice vid! How do you spin the wheel evenly if you are by yourself?
It's not easy. I use my foot to spin it.
Hey Evan where can I buy the compound and polish attachments for the angle grinder thank you for taking a minute of your time it's appreciated man
goshineon.com/shop
Evan Steger thanks man
11:29 He drops his pad and probably got rocks in it. Continues to buff with it anyways lol
SCMonkey sure did. Fell on the opposite face. Happens all the time. 19 years in the business and even I slip up. Lol but never use the rock side. 😉
Any tips on how to detail the smaller spokes or the more detailed wheels with all the designs. Any recommendations on dremels and the tips? Thanks. That truck looks sick
Juan Sanchez I use cone buffs and power balls then buff with loose buffs after. I don’t know many other ways.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing ok thank you sir. Will try it out. And see how it works out. Thanks for your advice.
@@JuanSanchez-fw9zv Glad to help.
My name is Garrett and you are correct 3500 is the best starter
Thanks for watching Garrett.
Is there anything to put on after the polish to protect it. Maybe wax or detailer. I'm restoring some centerlines now
cf mechanic I use rebel red to maintain from goshineon.com/shop
Can you do a video of what color rudge for what color wheel
We actually have a few videos explaining the different rouges and buffs. and how to mix match them.
Your one good friend lol
Tony Effin Nguyen keep the list small.
What do you use to polish the inside of the spokes? I have AF Octanes so they are pretty tight spaces.
I personally do them by hand with a cotton cone buff.
Hey Evan how often do you take your buffing wheels until they are really dirty or after every few so passes ?
Only when they get clogged up or start getting hashy.
Hey, Who is the Music by sounds awsome?? also great Video
Not sure tbh.
Evan do recommend the Makita over a Dewalt? What model Makita should I get? I purchased a grinder at Harbor Freight but realized it was not variable speed.
Makita GA7021
Hi Evan. First let me start that you are amazing doing what you do. My question is what do you use to take the clear and thick coats of paint off of aluminum rims. I'm going crazy throwing everything at it. Lol. I hope that you can help me with this. Thank you very much sir. You're the man.
I don't do painted wheels. They are too time consuming and hard to still make money doing them. So as a business I shy away from them most of the time. Sorry I can't be more help.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing thank you very much for the reply. Do you mind if I bug your ear every once and awhile. You really know your stuff and you film amazing videos. Thank you.
@@alphaandomegabracelets2673 Anytime.
Paint stripper is the go won’t affect the rims it’s the quickest and best way
What typically does a job like this take for all 4 wheels? Can you do the same to a gloss black rim?
CRFHONDARIDER100 way different process for gloss black.
my chrome rims are really bad the chrome is pealing off sooo what do i doo sand reall good till all chrome is gone and than paint again or what you recommend
I can’t mess with chrome. Best thing to do is take to a chrome plater to strip.
Pro tip dont lay your compound on the ground it will pick up dirt and gravel😉
GATORSK8TER I usually have a chair but when flying in my tooling options are limited.
wow
Thank you
Where can i get those brown bars and that yellow thing for the orbital
goshineon.com/shop sells them. yellow thing is called a sanding backing pad.
Hey Evan, im trying to do this on my own stoxk oem Ford rim reconditjoning Only thing and the most important thi g is the polishing wheels, orange ,yellow, white, greean? And the polish compound sticks WHERE DO WE FET THESE MOST IMOORTANT OF ALL ITEMS DID YOU NOT SHARE THIS? Thanks ,jim

Goddamm... Hail to the master. Fuck man, u been workin on this like the cure for cancer. Luv that deep deep mirror shit and thx for all the insider. I had no idea....
CASKET BLACK hope it helps.
Evan what process would I take to restore wheels that have brake dust caked on them?
I would use an iron remover or brake dust remover first to loosen and then buff and color the wheel. If it doesn't wash off then use sanding but only if necessary.
How come you use the green bar instead of the blue for for the final polish?
I like the deep rich color that the green leaves. The blue is too light of a color for my personal preference.
You have any restoration on black gloss wheels?
Giovanni Lopez no I’m sorry I don’t.
