Japanese Acupuncture and Moxibustion: How It Works

  • Are you looking for an alternative therapy or alternative medicine to treat your back pain? Perhaps you are curious about acupuncture or moxibustion and how acupuncture treatment actually works. Acupuncture and moxibustion is TCM or Traditional Chinese Medicine but Japanese acupuncturists have been using it for centuries as well. Acupuncture for back pain or acupuncture for headaches, it can heal almost any ailment.
    If you are not ready for the acupuncture needles then maybe try acupressure or a shiatsu massage first.
    Moxibustion is used to treat many illnesses or aches and pains as well. It is not invasive though. You simply either wave the smoke wand above the area that is causing pain or discomfort. Or you can also use the stick ons…but beware that you use those until they burn down. It won’t hurt you but there is some discomfort.
    The two kinds of moxibustion I have purchased and recommend are listed below.
    Kang HWA Stick-On Mini Moxa
    amzn.to/2BXmY7L
    Pure Moxa Rolls for Mild Moxibustion (Box of 10 Rolls) - 1 box
    amzn.to/2D1LkO7
    I have been getting acupuncture treatments my whole life. My guest today is a dear family friend Shigeno Kenmochi. She treated my asthma when I was a kid and now I get treatments when I visit her in Tokyo. This is Part 1 of a 2 part video. In Part 2, she gives me an actual treatment!
    Have you had an acupuncture or moxibustion treatment before?

    I guess it looks weird if people aren't wearing masks during interviews now! This interview was filmed last year BEFORE the pandemic...when we didn't have to worry about sitting next to people without a mask on. Sorry if anyone was worried! Have you tried acupuncture or moxibustion? If so, what are your thoughts?

      @@johnny1556 yes acupuncture with shiatsu or deep tissue massage can really help depending on your stress level and where you hold your stress.

    What a beautiful Soul. This video is such an inspiration to me. I knew at an early age that health and healing was something that I always wanted to do. My time has come and gone. I worked in a Hospital setting that wasn't working, I wish I had pursued a career in Acupuncture.
    I know that shoulder touch. My Acupuncturist helped me get over the death of a loved one. There is no end to what Acupuncture can do for Me. It's absolutely amazing to me that we are not using it in Western medicine these days. Beautiful video. 🙏✌

      miss bumblebee..my opinion accupunture is to channel /booster QI energy through organ, and wet cupping is to open the 'gate ' / remove toxin / heavy metal...so these 2 combination of ancient tecnique is must of theurapetic for illness..what did u think ?

    Acupuncture is a very effective health care system. However like all things not all acupuncturist are as experienced and gifted like this lady in Japan. It be an incredible privilege to have her treat you. She knows a lot about energy system which she incorporates in her acupuncture treatment. Thank You for making this video. I wish you would post another follow up showing her do the actual acupuncture.

    I have tried both acupuncture and moxibustion (though I did not know this was the name of it), and both were amazing. I felt a little sore after the acu, for about a day, and even a little queasy, but thereafter I felt so much better. Amazing stuff.

      I have tried acupuncture several times, and read every bit of research I can find. It did not work. At all. And I cannot locate any scientific evidence that says it should, or ever has worked, in any controlled test - more than a placebo. You were lucky. It is a sham.

    I love the fact that it isn't another medication. I feel it is safer and not invasive to a person. The thought of relaxation is so foreign to me; I think I need to research some acupuncturist in my area. Thank you! I am subscribing to your channel.

      Thank you so much. Yes there are many alternatives to healing. I want to be able to share that if we take a holistic, whole body approach to health and wellness, we can prevent many illnesses...and hopefully ween ourselves off of some of the prescription meds that so many of us are taking.

    @5:03 because there's a "knot" in the energy center and/or channel which prevents the energy ("ki" in this specific language) to flow which causes disturbance on both emotional and physical level.
    First emotional and then if care is not taken it progresses to the physical plane.
    Thank you :-).

    By touch.... The healer takes the energy of the ill person and gives her own energy of health. Which as this healer says is a primary source of healing. This is something i have felt as well. Once i touched someone for 20 seconds and a large part of the headache she was having got transferred to me. How does one maintain their own health while healing others?

    AT 15:45, you mention that heat is better for us than cold. What about the cold showers and ice baths that so many people do to improve their health? How does that fit in?

    • @ModernAging
      @ModernAging  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It is a different school of thought and definitely has its benefits. People are bio-individual meaning what may work for you may not work for me. My husband loves cold showers and he feels the difference. So it's not necessarily that one school of thought is better than the other -- you have to find out what is right for your body and what your body responds to best.

    • @Nemisis2290
      @Nemisis2290 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It also depends what your body needs, as she said, it may not be for everybody but as your tastebuds change over time, the rest of your body does as well as its needs. I used to prefer the cold, now I prefer warmth... it's strange. I can't even enjoy the cold anymore, when I used to revel whenever it was freezing out. Now I even get cold sweats in my sleep, when before I'd have my window open during winter with the heater OFF
