    I used natural log to take out the powers, divided both sides by ln10 and used a formula for transitioning to a new base and arrived at the same quadratic you had, Vieta's theorem to solved for logx and solve for x.

      Seems to be adding unnecessary complication to use ln when the whole expression is already using base 10.

    Beautifil thinking and analysis on method #2. I did it applying log both sides, but now I feel more robotic after seeing method #2. Thanks!

    log x= 1 or -4
    x=10 or 1/10000
