In this video we will be building the Voron Trident kit from LDO Motors.
It is an open source 3D printer that can be a good alternative to the Bambu Lab P1P, P1S, X1C. It is also a good alternative to the Creality K1 K1C K1 SE and K1 Max. While it isn't as fast or as quick to set up, it is much more moddable and upgradable, and runs Klipper, and uses a full set of high quality parts.

I'm on the fence with Vorons, or any DIY that is not fully supported. I have built a couple V0s, a couple 2.4s, and I have trident and switchwire kits still in the box. The build part of it is okay - no complaints there. The firmware uploading and configuring is kinda painful having to search through so many forums, discord, etc. just to get it running. Then there's tuning that never really gets them running exactly how I want them to run. In the end, they have sat untouched after weeks of work and I just go back to my X1s, MK4s or XLs because I know I can get really good prints from them. I think the days of Voron have passed years ago. I think it would be good if it was your only printer and you wanted to spend the time on it to get it perfect - but then you're more of a printer builder at this point and less of a printer.

I do not think the days of voron are over. What I hear you saying is that you do not get the same enjoyment out of it as you use too. And, would rather have an out of the box experience now. Which is okay.

I think you are spot on. Vorons are too much work for the price and the lack of support.
Every time I think I’ve found a good and cheaper alternative to Prusa printers I realize that there is always a big catch: closed source, privacy nightmare, too expensive, too much work, etc.
