    I don't understand all these reviews I watch, where they don't let us hear the engine. We are motorcycle people and we care what the bike sounds like. Seems strange to me.

      People do the same thing with dirt bike videos. Most people would love to hear the engines rather than someone's latest favorite head banger music.

    It does look like a Harley sportster copy. But the sad thing is, it's probably a much better bike than the Harley. I had an 883c once and the build quality just wasn't there.

    i really like the direction Yamaha is taking with this model. Would have liked to have seen a few more interesting color options for both the regular and R versions, but nevertheless. If i were interested in owning a cruiser style bike, i would definitely take a long look at this. Simple, basic, no bullshit, customize it the way you want. I like it.

    Funny how the Euro version is called the XV950 but in the states it's know as the BOLT.. Also the US models don't say Yamaha on the sides of the fuel tank, just a small BOLT logo on the top of the tank. Either way cool bike!

    I have a pal in Ohio who's going to modify a bigger gas tank to fit his Bolt. He's going for slightly longer fork tubes, a fork brace and shocks, as well. I rode one of these things. Lots of fun for bar-to-bar riding. I feel it needs more hp, a better front binder, a bigger gas tank and more ground clearance. Otherwise, the Bolt is a bit of alright. I like my 2013 Triumph Speedmaster (over the Bolt) just the same.

    It does a lot for me. Torquey but with enough bhp to motor if you need it. Great looking but not cruiser-silly. Good riding position. I'd like one -- if I wasn't already totally committed to my Kawa W650...

    I got this weird feeling that this bike is probably the same as Star Bolt - a direct competitor to the Harley-Davidson Iron 883 !

    • @Diesel6Power
      @Diesel6Power 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Nishant Sawant Star Bolt and Yamaha XV are the same bike, made by Yamaha, just two different names for different markets...

  • @bsranger40
    @bsranger40 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    hi my name is misty, and my hubby is teaching me how to ride. he has a bolt star 950. and this is my first time learning to ride. he has posted some of my videos on TH-cam of me riding , and since this is the first time doing this, I love this bike. I'm thinking of getting the yamaha star 250 as my first bike because I think or would be great to get out and learn more than just in the parking lot. my question is this guys, I'm 5ft 8 in and if I'm already learning on his bike ,would the 250 be too small for me? going this summer and doing the safety course, but I love love to have your info please. thank you for reading. keep riding on!!

    • @johnshea8664
      @johnshea8664 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So what did you do ? i think the 250 is ok in some markets, but I think you could manage the 950 (Bolt). 5' 1" in heavy Asian market with low fuel udget is not your scene. The Bolt will purr at 110 km/hr the 250 will offer a tiring buzz. The 250 Star is a good looking bike that you will outgrow fairly quickly ! Either way, ...ride on ! Your mate is a lucky man whatever cc you choose !

      I guess this is the Euro version of the US Bolt? I know its the same bike. Or did they come out with this and then give it the Bolt name the next year... I've got a 2014 Bolt C - 5'9", 250 lb.s and its perfect for me... but I've seen taller guys say they like it.

    Hi guys can you help me please?
    I am new into bikes. I am 28 years old and i am doing my bike drivers license in some days.
    I realy like the Yamaha 950 from the optic. Is this bike OK for a Beginner? I want to ride it only on my free time on Weekeend. And i think 150-300 Kilometers maximum each day.
    And i also want to cruise with that bike, not going superfast.
    I would be happy if you could give me some advise. Thanks :-)
    Sorry i am from Germany, i hope you could understand everything.

    • @hlsghost
      @hlsghost 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      excellencegamer Any bike you choose will work ok as a begginer's bike if you treat it right. I think you'll find this is a beautiful bike for cruising on your free time though. Since you're not looking to go superfast, you'll be fine. If possible, after you have your license, try and go for a ride on it before buying. Usually you'll know very fast if it's your kind of motorcycle. Have fun!

      Joel Nilsson Had my 3rd bike lesson today and it is soo much fun! On the 1st lesson i already drove on the street with around 120 km/h :-) It is easy and very great. I ride on ha Honda CBR650 with 98 HP.
      This bike is great also for me, maybe i will start with something like this for the beginning.

    • @hlsghost
      @hlsghost 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a good bike to ride! I rode on BMW f650gs for the lessons, and now I ride a Honda cbf600sa. Both great bikes as well! Have fun! It sounds like you will have your license in no time!

    Don't mean to be too rude, but this gents reviews always involve a heap of "ums" and "ahhhhs" and quite alot of stuttering. I don't know if it's those presentation issues, but they also seem to have less detail and are a bit more generic. I am finding them very hard to listen too, which is annoying because I love all the other videos on MCN, usually very informative and well-presented. Not trying to be a dick, just letting you know. Maybe I am the only person who realises/ cares?

    Like it!! But tooo expensive for a naked bike , think I am gonna get an 04 or 05 triumph Bonneville {790cc made in England carb model} they are still available n cheap here in uk,,,in usa they are are sought after that's why I sold mine [03 model]for the same as I paid for it!! BUT here [uk] nobody is bothered if its a thai made fuel injection bike now and no longer "the real thing" so I may even get two and take one back to usa. all these bikes look strange here in full face helmets and high viz ,OMG funny.

    I guess old is new again.
    There was a time, long ago, when the Japanese didn't copy Harleys, cause they were POS.
