The off-set tank cap is so that when the bike is parked on it's side stand the highest point on the tank is on the right hand side so you'll be able to fill it up fully.
You are an absolute legend for replying to my comment, despite already having answered it a couple minutes before, due to a similar question about air filter changing. Your viewer interaction is top grade. Hard to keep up as you grow, which you surely will :) stay awesome
Many thanks for taking time to answer my question. Makes total sense. Guess you could learn to overcome tall-ness more so than it being more fundamentally unwieldy - the balance, ergonomics and power delivery seems to score well.
Nice Q+A Tony...good info 👍! It's a nice bike with a cool Dakar vibe, looks better in the flesh actually. But I have too much time and effort invested in my handsome Faraway Blue 💙 T7..it does everything I need and is simple and inexpensive to service. Love it! Cheers, Steve
Cheers Steve, it was originally only intended for my community page, but i thought sharing it might be useful for others? I was at EICMA last week and there were some very nice looking T7's there.
Ps the reason I got this bike is that I had a motorcross bike as a teenager and road lots of farm bikes … I wanted something that brought back that feeling and was also good enough for touring. I have a customised sportster which I love … but it’s a stark contrast to the x (obviously:)
Good job man! Take it from a long-term owner you can disregard the Internet hysteria, tank off/on with filter change is a 20min doddle. DDX owners love them to bits and keep them. The haters have 1-3 things in common = short/fat/broke in any combination, or the full hat-trick 🤣😂🤣
I was looking at these and at the 1250gs 890 and 1290 etc and ended up on a 2018 triumph tiger 800 xca does everything I need it to cheap to insure and a fraction of the price of the others
Brilliant bike but for the majority of riders the Multistrada v2S would suit them better unless tall, only 5% riders venture off road. I’ll stick with my Multi, brilliant bike, despite having been a GS fan boy…seriously underrated and shares the same awesome engine.
Yep, a point I made in the video. I would think that more than 5% of adventure bike riders do use them off road. But having said that adv bikes do make for super comfortable touring machines

Excellent explanation to the questions & answers Tony!
Thank you kindly
Great video as ever. I’ve just started using a Nikon Z30 for my garage videos…superb camera but spare battery a must if shooting 4K 😅
Yep it chews through quicker than my Z6ii’s do

You shoudl feel right at home then, its one of the more 'dirt bike' feeling adventure bikes out there. Enjoy!

The off set cap means I can quickly fill the tank without removing the tank bag … I use the giant loop
Handy

I had a 2018 Tiger 800 XCA, it is indeed a great bike, but I prefer the characteristics of a twin, so swapped it for a KTM 790 Adventure.
Thanks for the response!!
No worries!

Cheers Allan, not one I intended to put out to the 'public', but I thought it might be useful to someone?
First service £255 Riders of Bristol
I did manage to get them in the first ride review video, but thanks for confirming.
Do you prefer this to africa twin?
No, I’d rather have the AT
Glad you said that, as I'm just fitting the hex easycan lights and sound bomb as per your video on my new at.
