Matt, great video. Just had a chance to look at it. One of the things I liked about it was you weren’t afraid to say that you were on the American river,most channels just say something very vague like the mother load or South Oregon. It really doesn’t give much information about where you’re going. Don’t need exact details, Just the fact that you found it on American River is great.

I live by folsom lake & the American River feeds folsom lake there is a North South & middle fork, the clues are in the terrain in the video & the size of the river, its 1/8 the size as it is here in sacramento so 5000 feet in elevation probably, last year was a serious winter so I imagine there is new gold in our rivers.
Now this is what I would like to see on a Gold Rush type show ...well presented. ...a different miner each week showing what we micro miners really do. No big machinery ... just the basics ... maybe there would be less angst against us

@@MountaineerMatt my first day here on a claim club I pulled almost 3 grams out of a dip/pocket/whatever in the bedrock that wasnt visable because of overburden. The dip was around 2 feet deep and a foot wide. 2 quarter gram flakes/pickers at the bottom

Wow great video! I just found you a year later 😆. I'm in so cal and I make a trip up that way every year.last year was my first year on the American and I loved it. Didn't find much but it was a great time anyway! The hike in and out was brutal at best and somewhat dangerous with steep inclines and slippery ground. Bedrock everywhere but picked clean! I love sniping first then I start looking for places to dig 😆 I was north of mineral bar but it wasn't worth the effort to get up in there! Anyway I will be heading back up that way soon but have my eye on a different stretch of the american! I enjoyed your video and hope to find a spot like that in my future! The yuba is a great place. These pans were very nice but you have to hike to hell and back to get there. Almost not even worth the effort but it sure is beautiful on this section of the river

Yes it is. But some areas can't be claimed or people don't want to claim because of difficult access.

It doesn't always come out of the ground shiny. The ground was wet and I probably cleaned it with my mouth
