    Narasinghpur is situated 100 km far from capital Bhubaneswar and 120 km far from its district headquarters Cuttack. Narasinghpur is part of the Baramba (Odisha Vidhan Sabha constituency) which includes Baramba block and Narasinghpur block. Sri Devi Prasad Mishra, MLA of the constituency is native of Narasinghpur.
    Narasinghpur was the capital of Narsinghpur State, a former princely state of India during the period of the British Raj.[3] The state was also known as Arata Rajya. The kingdom was ruled by the Singhdev dynasty. The most renowned king was Sri Ananta Narayana Singhdev, who had got the title of Sandhamarka (means brave and efficient) by the Puri gajapati.

    Raja ANANTA NARAYAN MANSINGH HARICHANDAN MAHAPATRA, Raja of Narsinghpur 1921/-, born 9th September 1908 and succeeded 5th July 1921, educated at Rajkumar College, Raipur and Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, married 1929, Rani Kanak Lata Devi, M.L.A. (Orissa), the only daughter of Raja Bahadur Sir Rajendra Narayan Bhanj Deo Bahadur of Kanika, and had issue, two sons and one daughter. He died 15th November 1963.

    Rani Lalit Manjari Debi, married Raja Saheb Sri Satchidananda Gajapathi Narayana Deo of Chikiti, and has issue, two sons.
    Raja TRILOCHAN MANSINGH HARICHANDAN MAHAPATRA [Trilochan Singh Deo] LL.B., Raja of Narsinghpur 1963/2007, born 14th September 1932, M.L.A. (Orissa) 1971/1980 and 1990/1995 (for four terms); engaged in the study of the flora of Orissa and other states; interests and pastimes were Horticulture and introducing new plants in Orissa forests and collecting rare plants, and observing their growth; married Rani Manjul Manjari Devi, (now Rajmata Manjul Manjari Devi of Narsinghpur), daughter of Lal Saheb Sarat Chandra Bhanj Deo of Sompata in Mayurbhanj, and had issue, one daughter and three sons. He died 17th July 2007.
    Rani Dr. Padmalaya Devi, born 1959, she is an acclaimed oncologist, married Raja Prabir Chandra Dhir Deb of Balarampur, Orissa, and has issue, one son and one daughter.
