Honestly this blindsided me. I was expecting not to like this one, because I was thinking about "Rescuers" Disney-type animated films, which were great but I don't watch anymore. And then Red masterfully explains how small mammals are the hapless mortals to our own Lovecraftian eldritch horror.
Few games actually give this vibe better than Rain World. You are near the bottom of the food chain and there are greater things happening in the background but you are focused on surviving the world more powerful beings have left behind.
If you love that sort of vibe I'd suggest you check it out! It has quite the deep lore as well for those who like to dig into that stuff.
@@synthreist2863 Thanks for the suggestion!
I'm surprised she didn't even mention the classic The Incredible Journey movies duo, I swear these two movies played every other day on TV, and other similar movies, were a staple of my early primary school years.
The Dimension 20 show Burrows End is one of these such stories, where the players are a bunch of stoats with minimal anthropomorphization and some strange magical abilities, and their world is slowly being overturned by what seems to be human developmental projects in conjunction with some form of extreme radiation event. It plays HEAVILY into the horror with more fantastical elements but it still keeps the fundamental dread of “small mammal scary big world”
I'm within a year of Red's age, and I 100% was a Warriors kid. (I loaned my copies of the books to my 5th grade classmates.) I guess she never got into it.
Are hobbits mammals?
-They have fur.
-I think they produce milk, unless hobbit breasts are purely aesthetic/vestigial.
-I assume they gestate and give live birth (not that it's required; look at platypodes and echidnas).
-They're probably warm-blooded.
Plus, they're most definitely featherless bipeds. Furry, but featherless.
Yeah, cats are reptiles, didn't you know? /j
