That's not all Tatiana. The band has admitted in an interview that they used an octaver for this particular song/video. She is an incredible singer/growler, etc. but if you have ever seen them live or watched live concert videos her voice isn't as low/deep as it is in this video.

i'm a metal vocalist, and I once met Tatiana, backstage of a festival in France, I improved my screaming techniques thanks to her advice, she is for me the best female metal singer in the world. Her voice is 100% real, and besides she is a great person, very kind.

Her vocals you hear are not live, but from the album where there is slight layering, but she CAN do this live 100% Plenty of videos of her doing justd that. Also, what you hear is ALL her, there is no studio magic or distortion that turns her normal voice into that sound. She is making use of false vocal folds and doing what is referred to as 'vocal fry'.

Tatiana's super human ability is obvious - she can haunt you in your dreams. But don't worry, as long as you keep your hat on while you sleep, you'll be safe, because your hat will protect you. As for her vocal, that just takes a shit load of practice, like anything else, but that sound she makes is all her own. That is one reason why she can switch between growling and singing with such flawless ease. She uses what is known as a false chord method for growling. I'm not musically proficient, this is just information I have garnered from some vocal coach reaction videos. It really is quite impressive. The voice, when done properly, is done with the using a lot of air without vibrating the vocal chords and using the shape of the mouth to change the sounds. It's a little like whispering but using air to increase the volume of the sound.
A really good one is Jinjer - Teacher, Teacher. I'm not a metalhead really (though recently, after encountering Jinjer, I find myself doubting that), and don't usually like the fry scream, growling vocals. Pisces by Jinjer was actually the first song I'd heard where I liked the growling. I really like Teacher, Teacher, as it shows off Tatjana's vocal control; how easily she can switch between clean vocals and the growls.

That is her voice, it is a live recording session so yes there is a vocal "doubler" on her entire vocal, but literally everybody uses those all the time. The technique is called a "FRY SCREAM" and it's a well known vocal style. This girl is a master of the Fry and probably the best in the world regardless sex. I'm sure by now (3 months after your video) you've done your due diligence and checked out their concert videos so you know this to be the case.

Subverting the "rules" is what metal is all about and Jinjer may be some of the best there has ever been. I'd say you guys should get tickets for their upcoming US tour, but most of the shows are already sold out! Stupid good band that's really just getting started.
Certain people are born double-jointed and it’s something that comes naturally, and is difficult to learn... you almost have to break a bone to feel this depth of guttural pain and bring it out in your voice; like child-birth, heartbreak and loss.
If you look up some live stage performances oh them you will see thats her. Only thing with this video is the sound is mastered and has a few layered vocal parts, but as far as auto-tuned/distortion type things, she doesnt use them. Just the normal sound mix with reverb
I watched a female vocal coach explain how these type of female singers pull it off. The key is keeping the air above your vocal chords. If you don't you will blow out your vocal chords.Try doing the gruff stuff keep the air above your vocal chords. It works

Revamp was Floor's band before Nightwish, and some songs (like that one) feature her getting into some death metal screaming. It's awesome. It takes a LOT of vocal skill to be able to "do both" and it's so impressive. What I love about the Wild Card video is that it's in 2014, AFTER Wacken - so Floor went on and performed there, for that massive crowd for a band she was not (yet) a part of, and got to take that experience back to her (much smaller) band at the time. She still has a total blast even with the small crowd compared to Wacken.

Technically that is not her voice is called a guttural sound is made by passing compressed air through your throat, and the bonce structure on your face help to shape the sound, so no she is not using her vocal cords to make that sound, that's why it is not a female voice, also that is why is hard to actually understand or hear structured words, it is basically a growl, you need serious training, technic and skill to accomplish it without hurting yourself. Yo should listen to her live on concert there's good examples like "Whos gonna be the one" and "capitan clock" , this recording is live , as the description on the video say they did added extra voice recordings to increase the effect overall , BUT I assure you it will not change the feeling at all when you hear her doing it live, she is just amazing at it.

Think about this, guys: why would she be "faking" her voice on this video when she had to sing it live? In fact, she had sung it many times live during the tour they did after the release of the album this song was in, so she couldn't be "faking" it. ; ) As many others have commented already, of course it sounds more "dramatic" on the video than live because they added the same 2nd vocal tracks Tatiana recorded for the album version, to make the song sound as close as possible to the version people had already heard. The whole idea behind this video was to showcase the new drummer, Vlad, because they liked the different "spin" he put on the song, compared with the album version (which was recorded by the previous drummer, Kim). However, what at first was a song the band considered to be one of the weakest of the album, ended up blowing up on the internet and ultimately propelled Jinjer into international recognition. : )
"...we might as well objectify her, while we're at it" - and that's what the song is about, in a nutshell. I suggest Jinjer's "Teacher, teacher" to hear even more of their talent. If you really want a groovy, slinky jazz track, try "Beggars' Dance" - no growling at all!

Achieving that "voice" or death metal/scream/growl is done through practicing techniques using the power of the diaphragm and a series of breathing/vocal cord/tongue placement techniques to achieve it and it's very difficult to master so you don't ruin your vocal cords. (If it hurts, you're doing it wrong). Many vocalists in ALL kinds of metal genres practice these techniques to perform this. My favorite kind of death metal scream is called a "guttural" type low scream/growl. The heaviest of the heaviest bands use these.

That is her voice. She uses a technique called vocal fry to achieve that sound. Listen to one of their live concert pieces and you will become a believer. This has a little studio magic in it layering her voice ep give it depth
Vocal Fry, Growl, Distortion. All can naturally be produced without added effects. Definitely highly recommend doing a little research on the subject, its actually really interesting. The science behind it actually got me interested and ultimately attracted me to learn and practice.

That is her voice, it is a live recording session so yes there is a vocal "doubler" on her entire vocal, but literally everybody uses those all the time. The technique is called a "FRY SCREAM" and it's a well known vocal style. This girl is a master of the Fry and probably the best in the world regardless sex. I'm sure by now (3 months after your video) you've done your due diligence and checked out their concert videos so you know this to be the case.
Ya'll need to watch some more of their stuff, specifically the live stuff. I've seen them live. She is full capable of everything you're hearing.

Subverting the "rules" is what metal is all about and Jinjer may be some of the best there has ever been. I'd say you guys should get tickets for their upcoming US tour, but most of the shows are already sold out! Stupid good band that's really just getting started.
Certain people are born double-jointed and it’s something that comes naturally, and is difficult to learn... you almost have to break a bone to feel this depth of guttural pain and bring it out in your voice; like child-birth, heartbreak and loss.

If you look up some live stage performances oh them you will see thats her. Only thing with this video is the sound is mastered and has a few layered vocal parts, but as far as auto-tuned/distortion type things, she doesnt use them. Just the normal sound mix with reverb

I watched a female vocal coach explain how these type of female singers pull it off. The key is keeping the air above your vocal chords. If you don't you will blow out your vocal chords.Try doing the gruff stuff keep the air above your vocal chords. It works

Revamp was Floor's band before Nightwish, and some songs (like that one) feature her getting into some death metal screaming. It's awesome. It takes a LOT of vocal skill to be able to "do both" and it's so impressive. What I love about the Wild Card video is that it's in 2014, AFTER Wacken - so Floor went on and performed there, for that massive crowd for a band she was not (yet) a part of, and got to take that experience back to her (much smaller) band at the time. She still has a total blast even with the small crowd compared to Wacken.

Thanks for the reaction, love the singer's vocals. Her growling is a form of vocal fry - like when you clear your throat. There are other female growlers out there, especially in Japan. Here's two groups that use that technique in some parts for effects:

Technically that is not her voice is called a guttural sound is made by passing compressed air through your throat, and the bonce structure on your face help to shape the sound, so no she is not using her vocal cords to make that sound, that's why it is not a female voice, also that is why is hard to actually understand or hear structured words, it is basically a growl, you need serious training, technic and skill to accomplish it without hurting yourself. Yo should listen to her live on concert there's good examples like "Whos gonna be the one" and "capitan clock" , this recording is live , as the description on the video say they did added extra voice recordings to increase the effect overall , BUT I assure you it will not change the feeling at all when you hear her doing it live, she is just amazing at it.

Think about this, guys: why would she be "faking" her voice on this video when she had to sing it live? In fact, she had sung it many times live during the tour they did after the release of the album this song was in, so she couldn't be "faking" it. ; )
As many others have commented already, of course it sounds more "dramatic" on the video than live because they added the same 2nd vocal tracks Tatiana recorded for the album version, to make the song sound as close as possible to the version people had already heard. The whole idea behind this video was to showcase the new drummer, Vlad, because they liked the different "spin" he put on the song, compared with the album version (which was recorded by the previous drummer, Kim). However, what at first was a song the band considered to be one of the weakest of the album, ended up blowing up on the internet and ultimately propelled Jinjer into international recognition. : )
"...we might as well objectify her, while we're at it" - and that's what the song is about, in a nutshell.
I suggest Jinjer's "Teacher, teacher" to hear even more of their talent.
If you really want a groovy, slinky jazz track, try "Beggars' Dance" - no growling at all!
Don't sweat it, many reaction videos show the listener pausing to ask that's really her unaltered voice.

That is her voice. Achieving that "voice" or death metal/scream/growl is done through practicing techniques using the power of the diaphragm and a series of breathing/vocal cord/tongue placement techniques to achieve it and it's very difficult to master so you don't ruin your vocal cords. (If it hurts, you're doing it wrong). Many vocalists in ALL kinds of metal genres practice these techniques to perform this. My favorite kind of death metal scream is called a "guttural" type low scream/growl. The heaviest of the heaviest bands use these.
These are fry screams, not false chord screams. Fry screams bypass the vocal chords entirely.
