your father reminds me of my tatay. he passed away last 2015. he really looks like my father. im almost cried coz he's a carbon copy of my tatay. tatay means father in the Philippines
even though he chooses his 2nd family over us but still he's my father. my nanay took all the responsibility of my father. we are broken family. they got separated when i was 4 or 5 yrs old. were 8 sibling's and i am the bunso or the youngest. my nanay died last October 18 2013. nanay means mother in the Philippines.

Actually I've seen men nearly 100% of the time get confused about the "My son..." statement b/c they think the subtitles are always her (and of course don't absorb the fact she's not moving her lips...) But then again this whole part was her thinking to herself, so I can possibly see that disconnect. On the other hand, ladies always get that it's Paul's mother talking to Ann. As much as I'm annoyed at how it confuses people, I think the creators are finding out the hard way they handled that piece incorrectly and made it confusing (to mostly us...guys lol)

All that jollibee is saying is yeah you as international consumers have all loved chickenjoys, but there are products that are as equally as delicious. Jollibee burgers. Ann as the consumer is faced with a tough choice. To pick jay the burger? or paul the chicken? It's a creative license of course. Jollibee will still offer both. The burger and chicken are even offered in stores as part of set meal. I think last year's vday series focused more on chicken and set meals. Internationally, ppl have this thought of jollibee as a premier chicken place more than it is a purveyor of delicious burgers. I hear it from international youtubers and bloggers all the time. They would always say "jollibee chickenjoy is the best..." but what about the burgers? Jollibee, when it first started in late 70s, it first offered ice cream, sundaes and burgers. There weren't any fries, spaghettis, or chicken. They were introduced only years later. I think this commercial it's time to reel in international customers to what jollibee is all about. Jollibee wants to compete not only in the chicken space but also in the burger space. So there was Anne making that choice. She has chosen chickenjoy and patronized chickenjoy for a long time, but it would be nice to also try burger as well. This is my reading as a marketing person. This commercial was never about jay or paul or moving on and loving again. The deeper meaning lies in the very meaning of consumer choice.
