Installing Balljoint Deletes On Cassie's LS Swapped Jeep Wrangler!

  • Ball Joint Delete Kits: americanironof...
    Most Jeep owners are fully aware of how much Balljoints can be a pain! With our larger tires, and heavy offroad use, the factory balljoints are just not up to the task and fail quickly. Even aftermarket balljoints have a hard time staying tight and reliable.. Its mostly due to the fact that the Balljoint design itself leaves a lot of room for improvement.
    Some of you may be familiar with Balljoint Deletes, and some may have never heard of them!
    Head over to American Iron Offroads website for more info, and to see all the axles they produce kits for. Or, check out the facebook page to see real world reviews, questions, testimonials, and feel free to ask any questions you would like! / about
    Balljoint Deletes are not much harder to install compared to a typical balljoint job. But either way, its not a quick simple job... And its nice to know that we wont have to do this job over and over compared to a typical ball joint replacement.
    In a way, these are kind of like a hybrid kingpin setup.. Some of you are familiar with a kingpin and know that they are very reliable and strong, some people refuse to own an axle that has balljoints! With this setup, we replace the tapered ball joint with the ball in socket design and swap over to a Spherical Rod Bearing setup that sits in a machined cup housing with a through bolt.
    In this video, we show you how to install a set of balljoint deletes into a Jeep Wrangler Dana 30/44 axle. The process to install them is the same across all the years of the early Jeeps up till 2018. The Wrangler JL and JT have a different install, but its very similar.
    If you never want to worry about pressing in balljoints again, and your looking for one of the strongest, tightest setups, then these are for you!

    I'm probably not the only comment, but to complete the swap, you should do a DIY alignment (toe in, toe out) and then center your steering wheel. Without disconnecting any rods, it probably didn't move much; however, I noticed a little left bias when steering straight.

    • @JKGearandGadgets
      @JKGearandGadgets  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steering wheel was already off center, we need to weld up a new drag link since we are out of adjustment from the axle swap. It did not change alignment at all.

    • @JKGearandGadgets
      @JKGearandGadgets  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are RCV axle shafts. It’s an entire shaft replacement that is made of chromoly steel (much stronger metal), and moves away from a ujoint to a CV (constant velocity joint).
      They are much stronger, and unlike a Ujoint they have the same strength even at a turned angle. They are pretty pricey, but warrantied against breaks, and once you start off-roading fairly hard then axle shafts are a much needed upgrade.
      I think I go over them a little bit in this video, but rcv has great information on their website. th-cam.com/video/PiBmwah_mdQ/w-d-xo.html

      So far amazing! Granted I only have 4 off-road trips on them, but I’ve put over 2k street miles on them and they have no visible wear. They grip like crazy offroad

    Alright mine must be crap bc my jeep is all over the road. Had to turn abs+esc off completely just to even drive without cleaning the ditches out. Can't make major correction without potential unintended lane changes. Any ideas

      Torqued everything to spec? They can take a little to break in, but what’s your caster spec?

      @JK Gear and Gadgets everything is torque properly. I'm going to run it by the alignment shop. And see what they say. Any advice on what to tell them. It's a 2012 jku non rubi. Got a email I can send you the results and get your opinion

    should or do the bolts ever need to be replaced for stress wear on the deletes ?

    • @JKGearandGadgets

      Bolts don’t ever need changed unless someone you manage to break one. The nylock nuts should be replaced if you ever remove them since the nylock looses strength once removed
