The problem is that nostalgia is powerful, and that mike shinoda knew the kind of backlash this would have and didn't want all of his and the bands hard work as a world presence go down the drain, otherwise he should've just remade Fort Minor into this new Linkin Park but he probably didn't want to play smaller venues.

LP is a project created by Mike Shinoda essentially so i don't see a problem on him keeping the band alive, the problem is that the scientology chick is singing songs that she can't relate to, since most of LP songs talk about abuse and depression, something that her "religion" is not very conscious about. I think she can sing the new band repertory and songs, but singing songs that Chester helped to write, and putting a stain of scientology influence on the band's legacy, is not only disrespectful but also damages any good aspect left in the band. No wonder why Rob and Brad are more distant of the band...

I dunno dude, I sing linkin park songs all the time, love the band and love the message but I've never had depression. Am I not allowed to like the band or sing the songs too?
Chester use to really enjoy and encourage people to use his songs for their outlets. I see no reason to ostracize somebody for singing them regardless of personal opinion or mental state.
If Mike likes her as a lead, I'll be happy to give her a shot too, at least wait until the new album fully drops before you decide if her sound is to your taste but I don't think it's fair to try and gatekeep a band based on the past or the messages within the songs.
Creativity and music should be for all to enjoy, with how lonely people are now with technology and the state of the world, it's one of the few things we have left that bring people together.

They know much of the LP fans outside the US aren't fully aware of all this context, and they KNOW Brazil especially doesn't care altogether. Lets not try to pretend that all of this happened JUST because the fans hated on OMR. Chester was already in a terrible spot mentally and he had just lost his best friend and role model. The reception of OMR was poor because the album itself was unlike anything that existed before, and asside from a few good songs....its still pretty bland.
Sure fans are obsessing over Hybrid Theory and Meteora quite a lot, but that's because those albums are what put the band on the map. They were and still are some of the best music albums of their generation and have influenced much of modern day metal (especially metalcore) for better or for worse. Anything not on par with these 2 albums will look worse by comparison, even in cases where they have good songs.
Chester was always in a dark place mentally, and he expressed that with every single pant, scream, baited breath that he could. In the last few months of his life he expressed it best, ''I should not be alone when im in that mental space.'' Can you guess how many people were with him in his final moments? 0! Dude got far of the deep end and ended everything just to escape. Sure fan back lash did not help one bit, but it wasn't the catalyst for everything, but rather the cherry on top. When you are someone so humble and pure like Chester was, and you've been placed on this gynormous pedastal that just can't seem to stop growing, even something trivial as fan backlash will feel like you've been betrayed by everyone or you've let everybody down. Add that to an endless spyral of fighting addiction, depression, a horrific childhood trauma that will stay with you for life, AND the fact that your best friend just died, you and many others would've prolly thrown in the living towel too. All this to say that fans aren't at fault for Chester's self deletion, but he is. He may have done it for his own reasons, perhaps it was an innevitability- perhaps the reason he separated himself from his family was because he had everything figured out but just didn't want either his wife or son to be martyrs to his corpse. Nevertheless, it was a decision he himself chose, despite knowing how much people loved him. Sometimes it truly doesn't matter how much you mean to people. If you can't mean anything to yourself, you will always feel meaningless.
And that is of course assuming that Chester killed himself and wasn't done in by someone else.

I'm fine with people having differing opinions, but I can't stand the people saying Emily is a scientologist and that she doesn't believe in mental health. For one, her band Dead Sara has songs about mental health and Emily has been openly gay for a while, something the church of scientology does not allow. She has never once made any kind of statement to suggest she "doesn't believe in mental health." There is no way Mike would let someone who genuinely thought those things into the band. And as for Jamie, one of Chester's sons, he is mentally ill. I'm not trying to make fun of him or write him off, but he's been on a downward spiral for years and has shared some very alarming conspiracies about his own father's death. He's not very reliable, and even if he was of sound mind, it's not his band. I don't think it's disrespectful to continue LP. There wasn't this much of a visceral reaction when Alice in Chains or AC/DC did this. It's Mike and Brad and Joe and Dave's band just as much as it was Chester's. Should Queen have reformed with a new singer and continue to call it Queen? No. Should Black Flag have reformed with someone other than Henry Rollins and still call it Black Flag? Hell no. Whether you like it or not Queen is Freddie Mercury, Black Flag is Henry Rollins, and Linkin Park is Chester Bennington, it doesn’t matter if Shinoda is the main song writer, for better or worse that band was Bennington and it’s never gonna be the same no matter what you do in an attempt to change that, even if you pulled what Journey did and got a guy that sounded exactly like him it’s still not the same because at that point you’re just selling a lie to your fans. As a guy who owns all but one of the albums for linkin park, this new singer has completely ruined the band for me. I dont think she is that good of a singer and personally, she doesn't deserve to take the spot of chester with such a muddy past, especially for a band who hasnt made music in years -
Just wait, they'll unveil that the song Lost was ai generated just to test if they could use that to replace him.
Theres a difference if they did this 7 years ago, now i feel like they just want to cash in on the name

  • @danny-d0rito
    @danny-d0rito หลายเดือนก่อน +25

Linkin Park said it. the people who complain less on the internet said it.
let me spell it out: SHE. DID. NOT. REPLACE. CHESTER.
everyone wanted to continue as that band. people WANTED to keep going with THAT BAND. and it is THEIR band, so it is THEIR choice. Chester was amazing. he was an inspiration, and we all still miss him. but Chester is NOT THE BAND. LINKIN PARK IS THE BAND.
if they want to move on, they can. that is their choice. they can continue.
as for the new singer? good voice. she's already gotten better from the first release to the second, too. controversy? people pretending they know they whole fucking story, when they do not in fact know the whole fucking story. and also ignoring how she 1: withdrew from supporting Masterson when she realized what she was called in to defend once she learned what he did. 2: was born into and raised in the cult, and said people in the cult will do their best to ruin your whole life if you leave. 3: not to mention they are against gay people to say the least. learned this recently...folks, she is OPENLY GAY.
the Masterson thing can be a bit questionable as there are a billion people screaming opposing things. but literally everything else is PROVEN. hell, "the emptiness machine" has lyrics that hint at the trap of the cult!
people gotta stop looking at the maybes and pretending they are omniscient and all knowing beings. look at the "this is what we know" and balance that against what is in question. and please, if you take issue, feel free to reply. I'll (possibly) to the bitching and see how far the arguments moving in circles will go.
PS: Chester's MOM had to get a restraining order against HIS son. that say something about the family part of drama?

I honestly think Emily Armstrong could have worked out with Linkin Park (preferably for new releases, I don't think her voice fits for songs made with Chester) if it wasn't for the scientology thing. If she did leave, she can't go public with it because scientologists are batshit insane, but if she hasn't then I have no idea why you have her singing songs about mental illness, the very thing that caused Chester to take his life, when she genuinely doesn't believe mental illness exists

    • @MagicalSkyWizard

she can't really OPENLY speak out against them because they are just insane. and it gets weirder when you realize the band she FIRST was in (idk if she still is) Dead Sara, sung about mental health. a lot. not to mention SHE'S GAY. and...scientology is against BOTH those things?
not gonna lie, there is some facts that just chafe very weirdly with what is still not fully proven. we know she's a member because she was born into it, but after that? you can't leave because they will destroy you, and then everything SHE believes in...I personally have to side with her here. too much things fully proven that contradict allegations that aren't proven.
no matter what, she is stuck in a spot that has no really good resolution.

She's not actually a Scientologist if she was born and raised and essentially forced up into it, from what I understand. And while you can be brainwashed into it from childhood, people can have inner conflict and cognitive dissonance within that framework. Between what you're told to believe and who you actually are inside, as you grow and develop a sense of self and reckon with what your feelings and values truly are in contrast with who you've been told to be and otherwise forced to hide for the sake of community and family acceptance.

There is no doubt that Linkin Parks situation has been turned complicated. I know many of us would have prefered a better revival for the band. That said, it comes as no surprised that many fans form negative believes based on lack of evidence. The more you research, the more you learn, the more these claims crumble. Emily did attend one hearing for Danny Masterson, yet it was reported that only a few were actually allowed into the hearing itself. Meanwhile, it appears that she had the wrong belief in Masterson initially. Ultimately once she found out the true reality of the situation, she left and cut all ties with him. Interestingly , there doesn't seem to be evidence of Emily ever being involved with the harassment of the victims. Merely a spoken accusation from someone who aparently wasn't even around Emily. As for scientology, Emily has already gone against scientology as she came out as queer, and sings music addressing mental health. And it seems she's barely been involved with scientology, all things considered. I mean, even without a deep dive with any information we can collect, the hate on Emily just doesn't seem justified. As I said, it's very sad to see "fans" embrace a false narrative. True hardcore fans know what Linkin Park stands for, and if Emily was as bad as people claimed, she would not have been allowed to join. And Mike addressing the hate is VERY justified and not a ploy to cover up anything.
