  • Stacey Abrams discusses her book "Minority Leader" at Politics and Prose on 4/25/18.
The first woman to lead either party in the Georgia General Assembly, the first African American to lead in the House of Representatives, and now a candidate in the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial race, Abrams knows a lot about conventional skills like networking, persistence, and the value of mentors. She also has special insight about how to use otherness as an advantage and how turn fear into a source of strength. As she recounts her rise from a working-class Gulfport, Mississippi, family to Yale Law School and on to national recognition for her work in registering voters of color, Abrams combines memoir with a practical guide for women and people of color who want to break into places that have long been the territory of white men.

The next Governor of Atlanta, Stacey Abrams! She's a brilliant speaker and certainly a trailblazer in her own right, but she's so very much relatable. I'm looking forward to diving into reading Minority Leader.

Amazing talent with a sharp mind and an equally impressive wit to articulate.
So blessed to hear about your personal three pillars (faith, education and sharing your lunch pack as service to fellow humanity irrespective of their individual sensibilities) that gives you a solid mission in life.
You will continue to inspire many young girls and women far and wide.
"Minority Leader"is definitely on the next-book-to-purchase-list from Amazon.
Wishing nothing but a spirited fight in your campaign for the Governor's seat in Georgia.
Greetings from the South West Pacific Ocean.

Stacey this 64 year old woman who protested the Viet Nam War, supported lowering the voting age from 21 to 18 and we got it, the Civil Rights marches and the 'NOW' movement never think you can't make a difference, trust me you're on your way! You have more support than you know, actually I think you already know that. Have a nice day and follow your bliss.

This woman is amazing! I love how unapologetic she is in her ambition and agenda. We need a few thousand strong progressive leaders just like Stacey spread all around the country. I've had enough of politicians doing the same corrupt dealings with the corporations that own them while working class people suffer. It's way past time to start fixing the big problems.
