- Meet Christine Lakin, the voice of Peebee, Mass Effect: Andromeda’s outspoken Asari squadmate. Christine tells us what it’s like to voice an adventurous and impulsive character trying to find her own path in a new galaxy.
I can't wait to hang out with her, she seems funny and so cute! Nice to see a goofy, silly Asari, they tend to be so serious.
She kinda reminds me of Tali.
I already know I'll love Peebee, she definitely has a strange personality for an Asari

This really should have been shown a long time ago. Definitely like the voice direction for Peebee, she might be jovial and rebellious but she has a mature tone to her voice. Definitely doesn't feel like Sera 2.0 imo.
From what I can tell, she's less Sera and more Jack from 3 (not 2) with less cursing.
Tbf, her face seems to have changed since we first saw her. I noticed that in the Nvidia teaser. Now, with her character kit out, I'm sure they were tweaking her up until not that long ago.
But, yeah, Peebee seems more of a less hardened Jack, and Jack was bae.

I suspect BioWare would only ever have pansexual Asari as squadmates. Hell, I'm not even sure sexual preferences are really a thing for Asari. Probably just 'sexual' or 'asexual'. So yeah. I like your chances. ;)

Pollollo 168 That has nothing to do with what I said. The game is confirmed to have more romance options than the previous ME games, including non-squad/crewmembers. But not *every* squadmate will be romanceable.

If she's super emotional and jokey, I imagine she's like a baby Asari. Under a hundred years old, definitely. Most of the less stoic and stable Asari you see in earlier games are human young/middle aged.

I don't think any character can really be objectively the worst, they can be the least favorite, but still not objectively the worst. If she was objectively the worst that would mean every person who played the game held that same notion.
I like Sera because she is one of the few companions with a theme song. Also, she is more down-to-Earth than most fantasy characters. She is not a deep philosopher, she simply wants to help the less financially well-off people in Thedas and make dirty jokes.

Peebee has some big shoes to fill when it comes to Asari companions. Going in a very different direction from Liara and Samara makes sense, but there's a delicate balance to keep a wacky/silly character from quickly becoming obnoxious. Her name and "Blade Runner" makeup have been some early red flags, but I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised or grow to like and appreciate her.
To be fair, Blade Runner is plenty cerebral. Also, we already know she isn't JUST wacky but also smart. I'm pretty sure BioWare is just going for a different kind of charm but charm nonetheless.
IamShadowfax I wasn't a fan of the name at first either, but it's starting to grow on me. Her real name is "Pelessaria B’Sayle"
I can't decide if I will like her or not. I think the danger is if she goes too far in the Final Fantasy 'there has to be an annoying quirky girl' direction. Still most people are unanimous in how much they hate that kind of character so I hope she hasn't been written in that kind of way. The use of the word goofy has put me off though.
Maybe it's my aversion to stoic personalities, but I found Samara to be quite bland. She's like the asari justicar version of Qui-gon Jinn. They kinda repeated this mistake with Lexi in Andromeda, even though they attempted to drill some emotion into her with a hamfisted bar scene. "Being an emotional husk is in the job description" is a lazy plot device used to distract from a lack of character depth.
I think Liara and Peebee have a lot in common though. Fun characters that are very passionate about what they do.

I know what you mean. She seems like a fun character, but so did Sera at first and then turn out to be one the most obnoxious character i ever encounter. Christine description remind me of her. Let's hope Peebee stays on the fun side though.

Doesn't sound like it. Sera was the way she was to hide her own insecurities and to get over her past. The way this sounds, Peebee's personality isn't a facade but just the way she is. Those two things end up playing out very differently. Think Liara by Mass Effect 3 and Laliana by DA:I. Both could be described the same way, but Liara came into her role by necessity, Leliana was forged into it. That translates into both of them being completely different personalities.
DerLetzteMonarch You saying Seras personality was a facade in Inquisition? If so when did she ever change her persona internet the game that would have proved she was faking before? I mean she never bulled a Solas, she didnt lie about her past like Blackwall and she didnt betray like Iron Bull can do depending on your choises in his story of course. I mean dont get me wrong even with there flaws Blackwall and Iron Bull are some great characters but so is Sera. Shes proudly and bravely herself even when others give her a hard time for it. Sure if you dont like her beliefs and opinions thats fine but dont call her a facade for it.

The Ryder twins have a video too, so I expect that, yes, all of at least the basic squadmates voice actors will get videos. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get one for Jaal's voice actor tho, if only because they MIGHT not want to reveal much about Jaal pre-launch.

See this I have wanted in every game with multiple races there are is always the very serious Race I.E Elves in DA and Asari in mass effect and I love getting companions that brake that mold like Zevran so having a plucky Asari Rogue is awesome

One of the reasons I never romanced Liara was because of her cold, formal tone. It's awesome we'll get a romance-able Asari that has a more casual, human personality.
Definitely one of the more interesting characters in ME:A. I actually really liked the conversations with her in game as male Ryder.
Peebee is an amazing love interest for Sara.

Step by Step! lol. I wasn't too keen on Peebe to be honest but she has grown on me. She feels like she'll be a lot of fun, little naive but still grounded and smart. I'm loving the squadmates so far.

space sera, I think this is a great idea Bioware! Sera was probably the most polarizing character in Dragon Age. There was something authentic about her that you don't see with most characters. I think Peebee is going to be lots of fun as well as piss a lot of people off
With how unique Sera was and how much Robyn Addison brought to that character i can only assume that the people comparing Peebee and Sera never played DAI.

It sounds like PeeBee is a typical Asari in her Maiden phase, which would explain why she's so impetuous. Samara implied in ME2 that thrill-seeking and living dangerously are fairly commonplace among young Asari and she worked as a stripper, ran with Mercs and occasionally slept with Mercs in her youth.
From scene 1 on Eos when I first met Peebee I knew she'd be my favorite character. I lover her "don't give a f*ck" attitude. She's high energy, bubbly, and just fun.
Why do people compare her to Sera from DAI? I think they'll be completely different. I believe she'll be more like Joker from what we're hearing. Anyway, don't judge until you meet her. xD I already love what I hear about her.

Peebee is such a great character, it’s cool to see the person behind the voice! I wasn’t sure about PB at first, but her arc seems to be intended to slowly reveal her true personality and it’s working for me. (Yeah, first MEA playthrough, 2022, after finishing the OG trilogy for the first time. Hey better late than never! OK... I should go...

I heared a lot of complains about Peebee before the game was actually released but I think she's one of the best characters in the game. Since there's not Garrus this time she and Drack have been my favorite picks this time^^

Some idiots try to compare her to Liara and say she is inferior compared to Liara, but the way I see it, there are quirks in both Liara and Peebee's personality, I get the feeling I'm gonna like Peebee as much as I like Liara.
Peebee's the only reason i finished ME:A 2 times and this video just made me want to start the 3rd playthrough . Jaal Avela and Vetra also helped out but she's the main reason . Despite the negative criticism the game has got i argue that there are some very beautiful moments in the game , namely the party in the Tempest . That's the only part of the game that made me tear up , not as much as past experiences such as the end of the Shadowbroker DLC ( almost all romantic moments with Liara would be more accurate ) , Thane's death , Mordin's death , Kaidan's death etc .

I noticed Miss Lakin also does the voice of the Long Star Angaran Trading Post merchant on Haval, next to where the shuttle is parked. If you can get past the Texas accent for that character, it's the same voice actress.
She's got a "Great Personality" if you catch my drift. (And by that, she could look less like a certain DreamWorks character)

At the beginning Peenee I thought she is annoying and that she has a Borderline personality disorder. But the jokes between Drake and Peebee where the most hilarious I heard in the entire game. Now I adore her for her flaws, good job of character development 😋
They should get The voice of Drax to sit down with Steven Barr and Steve Blum and just say "Shepard" and "Ryder"
