Btw I researched the whole 'talking animals' thing and apparently the tradition is very old reaching the pagan times. Pagans believed that during winter solstice (between 25/12 and 06/01) the spirits of ancestors could talk through the animals, which is why the animals were well fed. Then in Christian times people used to bring to the animals opłatek and leftovers from the Christmas dinner as a 'thank you' for their hard work, which is how eating opłatek and talking animals got connected :)

Are you boy? My polish boyfriend told me girl last names end with -a and that when I took his last name it would be -ska instead ok -ski

Some people don’t bother changing their surnames in Poland and some names do not change either. There are males who are descendants of a typically female surname etc.
