I'm 16, and personally i'd love to get involved in LARP such as this ^^ I originally took part in a viking/celtic reinactment group called Dark Phoenix, it wasn't Larp (mainly because we used metal weapons and so on) but sure was close enough :) Had it not of interfeared with my lifestyle I would've kept at it! It's definately in my interests and honestly I already consider what roles I could take on. A friend called Owen Martin introduced me to it, only issue is the commute to kent!
Mhm, been told the same :) I'll be sure to check it out (And the whole age thing is understandable, I could train, but not enter a battlefield for reasons you just stated!) I live in Plymouth so it wouldn't surprise me if I got lucky. Thanks for the heads up and you peeps at SkullDuggery have a great time ^^ I hear you have an event upcoming soon on a weekend? Unsure
Hail from the first Kingdom of Dargarth! We are located in Seattle and we welcome newcomers! You can find out more at dargarth.org. Please note, you must be at least 14 years old!
This looks like fun. I originally saw a video back in the day and thought it was nerdy...which it is and thats good because i to am a nerd. To play a role playing fantasy in U.K would add to it i bet because real medieval battles were fought over there, it would be epic to add that tinge of reality to the battle field, looks like fun to bad i live in Canada weather is not so good for this!
+CrazyGuy Really old reply here, but one of the biggest LARP festivals (a festival being an event you can sleep at and is longer than just a single battle or adventure). This festival is called Bicolline and it's held in Canada in one of the biggest medieval villages built purely for this LARP (or so i believe).
No. All LARP weapons *must* be foam. Try looking around online for safe weapons, and LARP weapon safety videos, here on TH-cam. Or just find the "weapon construction" portion of this video, *ALL* weapons must be constructed in this way. A wooden sword, no matter how light the touch in simulated combat, stands a high percent chance of actually harming your opponent. Do you research, before you make any purchases or take something like that to a LARP, it will not pass weapon inspection. In fact, you'll probably be told to go home, come back next time, and be directed to a store/website where you can find proper gear (try Calimacil, I hear they have excellent gear).
Also, don't take this the wrong way, just scratching the itch that I, and every other LARP-savvy person will have, here on the internet... . . . . . . . . "OMFG! NUU, YOU FOKIN' RATARD! LOL, LIEK WOW, HOW STOPID R U!?"
+tommyjackson111 Late reply, but i would say no, it seems to use metal as part of its construction. LARP weapons are made purely from foam and fibreglass. Given that you might be hitting a mage with that weapon who is only wearing a simple robe, it could cause an injury. So LARP weapons are designed to be safe for everyone to be hit by.
Sverd Torden they are great they are the most used bofferweapon in a big swedish combat larp kalled krigshjärta (warheart) and calmacil even named an axe after one of the factions from warheart, the two handed skeagi axe :D
3:17 the guy on the right look like my character from skyrim he looks great lol, the guy on the left looks nice but the shield imo is WAY to big for my liking(armor wise im not say they're sexy)
Miles Matheson Then what is the point of wearing armor? Life isn't fun unless you get hurt. Honestly you might as well be saying have fun splitting your head open not wearing a helmet while riding a bicycle... I mean come on at some point you just gotta man up and not be such a wimp. I mean hell I've wiped out on a motorbike and had road rash so bad it stripped off my skin down to the bone among many other crazy injuries. You only have one life so at least go out with a bang! Fuck dying of old age.
DJ Rec01 The armor *IS NOT* real. Repeat... Armor = *NOT REAL* Larp is not riding a motorbike. "Man up"? Okay, have fun tripping and impaling yourself on a fiberglass core. You guys seem like the type to bring *real* weapons, and get arrested for attempted murder.
+Zerpent I It can be, however get a group of friends together and suddenly you are indispensable to the group for defending and countering magical attacks, you could even go the way of a spell sword. For archers it depends on the system there is usually a ruleset which makes archery viable in some way, in my system they are able to hit someone with an arrow and use the skill "knockdown" causing them to fall prone for X seconds. extremely useful when used at short range, enemy charges you thinking if they can just get in close you're dead, about 10ft away let loose and hit them, call the knockdown they fall at your feet, you pull out a dagger and simply stab them repeatedly before they can get back to their feet (and by stab, swipe at them)
6:20 yeah probably because you have a big ass shield...... I mean, c'on, isn't LARP suppose to carry a bit of realism in it? Does elves normally carry a shield of that size? Can they even carry it? If I say I'm a ork that has invisible shield that have a hitpoint over 100 around me, does that work too? That's just ridiculous. I really feel sorry for people who does LARP with you. I'm sure people had problems with it. Get rid of that cheat and fight at least equally wit other people jerk.
everyone wants to be a frickin elf,if elves are so cool where are they now, humans kicked there ass, that's where.
+UndeadDave Elves never existed.
+ElvenRhythm Prove it!
I would'nt want to be an elf. I don't dig the sleek aesthetic.
Undeaddave Ótima imagem !, tenho um canal se inscreve lá 😆😇
This is some really good costuming

This look like a ton of fun
Haha the Tor'Keth were our most recent enemy!
its from a guy called adrian von ziegler
Wish American Larp was like this :(
There are some, try SCA light fighting. They tend to use foamed weapons but there is little fantasy if any at all.
yay if only i was at that event

I have a question about weapons, are wooden swords from Cold Steel save for Live Action Role Play?

Are synthetic (nylon) HEMA swords approved for LARPing?

th-cam.com/video/YKLJsxKGiGA/w-d-xo.html
sons of the all father
That guy named Harry at the beginning a geld hair makes me uncomfortable for some reason
tidus I call him
No stabbing? Isn't that a good 60% of medieval fighting technique?
Floyd Keim III Well yeah, if your intent is to actually kill someone.
Sverd Torden Buy a calmacil sword, problem sloved
lordofdarkdudes Coincidentally enough I've actually been planning on doing that :P
Sverd Torden they are great they are the most used bofferweapon in a big swedish combat larp kalled krigshjärta (warheart) and calmacil even named an axe after one of the factions from warheart, the two handed skeagi axe :D
+Floyd Keim III LOL imagine playing a roman soldier who could not stab XD.
3:17 the guy on the right look like my character from skyrim he looks great lol, the guy on the left looks nice but the shield imo is WAY to big for my liking(armor wise im not say they're sexy)
it would be hard not to stab because all i do is pretty much stab.
ps. i dont larp
oow i am srry no no you guys larp real good i dint saw the whole vid :)
No stabbing? thats really lame..alot of sword techniques involve stabbing.
it's for safety man, the metal rods inside the weapons and go through a person if they fall against it n shit ya know
This *isn't* supposed to be historically accurate, you do realize that, right?
It's about having fun, while being safe.
Miles Matheson
PUSSIES!!!!!
Miles Matheson Then what is the point of wearing armor? Life isn't fun unless you get hurt. This looks awesome. But it must be really boring to be a mage or an archer.
+Zerpent I It can be, however get a group of friends together and suddenly you are indispensable to the group for defending and countering magical attacks, you could even go the way of a spell sword.

+Jack Jeon It's a fantasy world, with ELVES in it, and you're talking about realism?
C'mon man, use common sense!
In what system of LARP, are Elves not allowed to use shields?
I wouldn't want to play in *your* system.
I'm here just to tell you that shield sucks, totally unrealistic, bye.
Grow up
