This uses the Wagon Method discovered by @Unlockable Eden Gaming to shield you from the invisible sniper bullets in the restricted area of the map. The guide covers all the necessary steps and how to execute this properly - you must for example get the camera angel precise and configure your settings correctly otherwise it won't work. The guide also shows what I believe to be a new glitch that may help you if you make a mistake - although it's not pretty to watch! The other videos linked below show you how to get all the other plants required for Herbalist Challenge 9 (which fortunately, are all much easier to get than these four). Note if you are following my 100% completion guide, you can skip this step if you want to, and it will show you how to pick these plants normally when New Austin is accessible in the Epilogue. This guide is specifically for players who want to complete all the Challenges and unlocked the Legend of the East outfit early. Part II shows how to collect the Prairie Poppy from the Great Plains: th-cam.com/video/zGqCQgwJCDo/w-d-xo.html Part III shows how to get the 25 plants (excluding the Orchids) that are available in non-restricted parts of the map during the first six chapters, spread across New Hanover, Lemoyne and Ambarino: th-cam.com/video/MKEbOpFsI7w/w-d-xo.html Part IV shows where to find all 13 orchids (although if you have been following my guide, you will have activated Herbalist Challenge 9 when starting the exotics side quest, and already got these when collecting the requests for Algernon): th-cam.com/video/ZB4M9Triz_0/w-d-xo.html Click here for the full 100% completion playlist, including optional side activities: th-cam.com/play/PLpphot7CPMOYRvoxWOoFoDMGJx2I_Liqw.html Click here for the full 100% completion strategy guide: gtaforums.com/topic/922595-rdr2-100-completion-strategy-guide/
@Jimbatron any guidance on how to angle the camera before issuing the command to pick? I have no bother remaining covered when getting off its only when I pick the herb that the camera zooms in and I get shot (or re start when in Big Valley).
When looking for solutions to this problem on YT, I initially bypassed this video. "Ugh, this guy sounds boring and 43 minutes? There's gotta be a better way." Guess what. There isn't. This is the most informative and easy to understand solution to getting Arthur the Herbalist challenge completed. I regret not watching this sooner.
Wow, this video made me feel like I am going to the deadliest, most serious mission to save the world. Who would have thought that picking up 4 herbs will be such a challenge!
@@Bacon00024 they patched the Bronte glitch. The only way to do that is to reinstall the base version of the game on a console and stop it from being updated.
I honestly think this is the most comprehensive guide there is as to honoring Arthur Morgan. He deserves the Legend of the East outfit. I am now proud to see my him wearing one, all thanks to you, good sir. You are a legend yourself. Onto the next challenge - 100% completion, using your guide as well.
Me and Arthur are writing this as proud owners of Legend of the East outfit. Many many thanks for this video - it was very helpful, truly appreciated. I was ready to give up once I saw how many efforts these 4 herbs take, but eventually I collected them all after multiple attempts and deaths. Also, I confirm it still works as of October 19th 2022. I did it during Chapter 4. And pause tip was a lifesaver! To whomever is on their way to do this - YOU CAN DO IT! Best of luck and don't give up!
@@Pachurraz no this is a common misconception. 4 are unique to NA - Wild Feverfew, Desert Sage, Red Sage, and Blackcurrant. Prairie Poppy can be found in the Great Plains (you’ll still have to worry about Pinkertons but no sniper). English Mace can be found in Ambarino. Check the links in the description for where to find these.
@@Warm_and_loveable I found all the horses except for Mustang near Little Creek (across Hanging Dog Ranch). But it did take a really long time to spawn them all (sleeping, resetting the game etc.)
This is great. Rockstar has God snipe you in the back of the head every few seconds as a game mechanic. Anything to get around that bullshit is fair game.
My thoughts exactly. Credit goes to Unlockable Eden Gaming for the discovery though (as mentioned in the video and description), this is just a guide on how to execute it.
I don't usually leave comments, but you've definitely earned it my friend. Can confirm this still works as of 6/20/2022. This is BY FAR the most comprehensive and easy to understand video explaining how to pull this off. Took me about 5 or so tries but I got 3 of the 4 herbs my final go! Kudos man. To the other people seeing this comment: YOU CAN DO IT! It may seem impossible and there were plenty of times I wanted to give up and just finish the story again, but believe me - it's possible. Just give it time and if you get too frustrated then walk away and come back later. You will die while attempting this challenge. We all did - it's hard as shit. But you'll get through it and you'll get that outfit as Arthur. GOOD LUCK AND THANK YOU AGAIN!
Thank you for this Jonathan & Jimbatron. Needed to read your & a recent comment. 😁 On my 2nd playthrough & I want the LOE outfit this time around. Been practising picking for several in game days now as well as real world days. The camera zoom through the back of the wagon and as soon as I pick the herb it zooms right onto Arthur. Grrr! Them angles I tell ya! 🤣 Tried the carcass shield method several times too, but yeah nah, got shot so many times. 😤😂 Might have to alter between all these methods until I'm victorious. I'll keep on trying. Thanks again guys. 👍👋 PS: I also realised the wagons I have been using is slightly bigger, the tarpaulin has 4 hoops & not 3 like in the clip...maybe that's the detail that is stuffing up all my attempts. Okay this wagon is going to Seamus. 😂
@@lawnelcharcoe best of luck with it. I think you may have been using an Appleseed Timbre Company Wagon (check for writing on the side), which works (perhaps better), but you need a different camera angle (higher and to the side iirc)
@Jimbatron I totes think the wagon was to big. I have since practised with a wagon that have 3 hoops & not 4. Heaps better & made it to the Feverfew location but got shot just as I picked it. Dang Sniper! At least I'm getting there. Sitting on the next wagon waiting for daybreak. Seriously, if takes a week or more but I'll do it. LOE outfit here I come, in Chapter 3. 😁 Thanx again Jimbatron. 🤠
@@lawnelcharcoe you got it man! It's definitely possible, just annoying and difficult to do. It's the best feeling when you finally get it though. I'm not sure which wagon I used when completing it but I know I tried basically all of them and had mixed results. I'd say try and find one wagon you like best and perfect it, especially for during the plant picking animation. Best of luck dude!
Here is a way to spawn the wagon consistently. Fast travel to strawberry from campfire. Sleep in the hotel until noon. Ride on your horse to the right outside of town up the hill and go back after you go beyond town edge (it’s shown on your minimap). The wagon should be right around the corner next to hotel. Did it 5 time already and the wagon is always there if you do these steps.
Some flowers, some Dino Bone locations, these fancy Del Lobo hats, these legendary animals, this Ram Skull Mask, this Chinese Skull Cap, this Scarecrow Top Hat, and this Gambler’s Hat I killed some poor sick bastard for out in Armadillo 😎🤣🎉 (I’ve gotten all that through the Buggy glitch, also all New Austin outfits, all trapper clothing that requires New Austin animals to be crafted, and the Otis Miller’s Revolver via the Brontë Glitch). Flowers were the last thing I needed to get Arthur the Legend of The East outfit at Shady Belle in Chapter 4. Did the rest in Chapter 4 as well with a combo of the Buggy and Brontë methods 🎉💯 Edit: OH, and the Sun Hat from glitching to Guarma early and getting back to the mainland. Forgot about that, also did that as Arthur in Chapter 4
I've been studying this video for several days now and TH-cam just suggested it to me again and asked how good of a suggestion it was. I said it was a 5-star suggestion, and when they asked why, I checked "Life-changing," because that it is. You're a gentleman and a scholar, my friend.
@@Jimbatron I'm doing it now, I've successfully opened up the map down that way so I know where I am going to, as opposed to setting a marker roughly in the fog and hoping to christ its the location you want. Thing is, it isnt something you can have a quick go at, you need to really concentrate and spend time executing the techniques properly.
Thanks man you're an absolute Chad. This is wat should appear on recommend when I search for not 2 year old videos with glitch that doesn't even work anymore
While doing the challenge I noticed a few things with the wagon: -It has to be an empty wagon. These covered wagons barely spawn in Strawberry, and when they do, they’re usually filled with something like chests or furniture. When collecting the plants, the camera would zoom in on Arthur’s head because the wagon was filled, and as you can guess, the sniper takes you out. With an empty wagon it zooms more into the empty space of the wagon, but because Arthur’s head is on the same level as the wooden part, the sniper easily passes. You can overcome all of this by moving the camera a lot when he’s picking the plants, but it’s risky as the sniper shoots every second, and in that second where Arthur is barely visible, bam, back to Big Valley. -These wagons are pretty rare actually. When I was doing this challenge, the wagon with the tarp rarely appeared, and most of the time it was that one-horse carriage or the cart with the logs. As mentioned, the empty tarped wagon is the one you want, but because the tarped wagon itself is pretty rare, you’ll be spending a lot of time going back and forth between the town and the woods to get the wagon to spawn. -The buggy isn’t even that bad. Yes, it’s all the way in Saint Denis so you’ll now waste a lot of time just to get to Big Valley. Yes, police are at every corner, so it’s not fun evading them as one spawns every second. And yes, it can be destroyed with one stray bullet to the lantern. But I find it better than the wagon as you’ll be spending far less time adjusting the camera to stop the sniper. It has that tiny window which can finish you when you turn corners and have your head showing unintentionally, but if you drive at a steady pace, it’s not that big of a deal. Something that sucks massive balls is that when you die in the plains, you have to go all the way back to the city for another of those buggies, which wastes so much time. -Getting the vehicle takes a lot of time, but what is actually difficult is the Pinkertons. Yes, you can drink all the health tonics you want, and you can avoid them easily after a few minutes, but their aim is enough to make you lose focus. Their presence in the plains is annoying but mostly avoidable, but if you’re still WANTED when you reach New Austin, they’ll spawn in the desert with you. Granted, it’s only one Pinkerton who can share the same road with you, and you can easily swerve around him to avoid his vision in the very open New Austin, but him seeing you in front of him for just a second is enough for him to call an entire squad to take you out. Tons of fun when you’re getting shot by Pinkertons with perfect aim and a oneshot sniper. However, if you can get to New Austin with none of them on your trail, then finding the plants isn’t that bad. -Desert Sage is the worst plant of them all to find. It only grows far-west of the map, near Tumbleweed, which is so so terrific when you’ve been shot back to Big Valley. At least Wild Feverfew and Red Sage can spawn at Hennigans Stead, which isn’t too much of a hike. Blackcurrant is all the way in Cholla Springs, but it’s everywhere there so it’s not that much of an issue. But Desert Sage basically spawns in one spot, and it’s tiny, and it blends in with the pink foliage which is at that spot for some reason. On the plus side, with good use of Photo Mode, you can find the plant eventually. Anyway, I’ve typed a lot, but this video was very helpful. You’re the only guy that actually gave an in-depth video on how to get these plants, unlike others on this site which showed long and confusing videos on them mostly shooting New Austin birds, with barely any herb picking to be seen. Due to this video, I’ve gotten the Legend of the East outfit as early as Chapter 3 (I could’ve gotten it in Chapter 2, but Bandit 6 is all about using the horse fence, which is only unlocked in Chapter 3, so that sucks). But anyway, thank you so much for the guide, it was really helpful.
*Update* I'm finally get it after 6 six days straight collecting this freaking herbs. For who want to get this outfit just watch this video and keep practice with the camera angle and you will get it. Why this channel dont have a lot subs and views cause this video guide work like charm. Your Sir Jim batron are the Legend. Ver 1.26 (Last Ver) On PS 4) 25-2-2021.
Good to hear. I'm still trying to get the camera angles right with the covered wagon but it's all very disheartening because I can kill it with the buggy, but the damn thing is so brittle. Yet, on the other hand, the covered wagon is so slow 😰 I'm no filthy casual, though. I'll get it eventually.
I’m commenting for 2 reasons: 1) I could not have done this without your video. You could have not explained it any better, or demonstrated it anymore perfectly! Absolutely loved your advice - I’m definitely going to use your 100% completion playlist since I have a feeling that’ll be indescribably useful!! 2) I’m here to brag as well… I collected all 4 flowers, first try, zero deaths. Bonus: I did the majority of it in pitch black, picking the last flower at 7:06am in-game time But again, I definitely couldn’t have done it without your video! Subscribed, can’t wait to see the your current/upcoming videos 💯
Thank you very much. I just finished this challenge on ps4 and it only took me two attempts. The pause glitch really worked and saved me in the last two plants pickups. This video and the one for the horseman challenge were really useful for completing the challenges before the epilogue. Thank you again.
Kudos for acknowledging unlockable eden and great job on presenting alternatives, explaining your justification for your preferred method, and clearly explaining the the linch pins for success. Downright professional this video presentation. Salute
August 26, 2021. I did it. Took me 3 days of practically nonstop playing just to get dessert sage. I’m on PS4 and the amount of times I died even while being covered up by the wagon, starting the animation, putting the herb in my satchel. This is about as close as it gets to insanity. Best thing I did was just keep trying, it is VERY frustrating getting all the way to Tumbleweed just to be shot but to anyone reading, it can be done. Take it from the person that only that the camera angle right 1 time out of 4, sometimes things like this really can be luck of the draw. Keep on going to the other Arthur Morgan’s trying to complete this and HAVE SOME GODAMM FAITH
Thank you SO much for this. With many frustrating attempts, I can confirm this method still works as of June 2021. Arthur is rocking the Legend of the East outfit and all is right with the world.
@@Vilo24 Hey, I'm so sorry I missed this! I hope you've gotten it by now. I was cracking at it for a couple weeks, maybe an hour or two at a time between normal gameplay bc it was very frustrating. I don't know how people manage to get all the fossils and POIs; these 4 little plants were difficult enough for me!
Thanks for the in-depth video man with commentary, lot of good info here. I just completed this using the buggy method. Only took me two attempts to get all four herbs. As long as you ride through beechers hope and are able to evade the pinkertons, and you do plenty of practice picking herbs and getting on and off the wagon you should be able to complete this in no time. Wasn’t quite as difficult as I imagined if done right, just completed all 90 challenges as Arthur let’s gooooo!
I can never look at a covered wagon the same way again... A few things to note about this challenge: 1. It is possible. For a while I thought I could never do it, but eventually I did. You just need a lot of patience 2. This helped me a little bit, but when you’re riding in new Austin, wear a mask. This helped the law not recognize m as much. If they do recognize you, it’s still possible to outrun them 3. As far as escaping the Pinkertons in The plains, try not to get caught on anything as this will let them catch up to you. 4. Arthur looks like one bad motherfucker in the Legend of the East outfit, so it is worth it
number 2 is 100% true. I tried to get the ram skull mask with the wagon (you need a buggy), and I noticed that when I kept the mask I wore to steal a wagon, the lawmen would barely notice me unless I was extremely close. but when I had the mask off they recognized me almost instantly. when I get to herbalist 9 im gonna try to do this again but for the plants. ill keep the mask and especially the pause glitch in mind. edit: a few weeks after taking a break from rdr2, I managed to get the dinosaur bones and the herbs. I got all the bones in one run as well as the herbs. it's really easy once you learn the camera. as the guy said in the video practice is key especially if you're using a different wagon as some wagons will have different canvas positions. this was all in chapter 2 FYI. I am now gonna try to hunt the legendary animals and get the ram skull mask and I will be finished with the new austin stuff. I wonder if it's possible to get otis miller's revolver with a buggy and some insane spam pause glitch luck. I also wonder if there's way to get the new austin fish as arthur
@@davidcsik9761 nah it's not possible. it turns out that the pause glitch isn't actually a thing. all it does is just dramatically slow down time. the reason why the guy in the video survived is because if the camera is directly on a bullet proof surface even if it's not clipping directly through it, the bullets will still hit the object. I did some testing though and it IS possible to get the revolver using the meat shield method, but it's going to require some insane RNG and a lot of attempts. at that point you might as well just wait until the angelo bronte glitch.
oh yeah, I forgot to mention something really useful that I discovered: if you lose the pinkertons before you cross the bridge to new austin, the patrolling lawmen in new austin will not spawn, which will make things a bit easier. so when you first enter the great plains, try to go as slow as possible while still maintaining a decent speed. ideally, you'll want the pinkerton patrol to spawn and spot you before or as soon as you cross into beecher's hope, then, keep the red circle on you until you enter the next big fence thing, now just slap on a mask and keep spamming the extended radar button so the pinkertons won't spawn near you. if the pinkertons do fire at you as you escape to new austin, try to keep them south-east of you so they will hit the canvas instead of you, which will save you a lot of health. sometimes, if you get lucky, you won't even be shot once by a pinkerton. by the time you get down to the bridge, the pinkertons will be gone and you can safely cross and roam around new austin without the worry of any extra lawmen. also, a fairly minor tip but still a pretty helpful one: try to have an overweight or at the very least perfect or higher than average arthur before you attempt this. if you get unlucky and the pinkertons are shooting directly at you, they have insane damage, and if you're a tiny underweight arthur like how most players are, you'll get destroyed because of the increased damage impact that an underweight arthur has. to bump up your weight fast, cook about 15 big game meat of any variant. then head to van horn, kill the fence guy, eat a big game meat, go outside, and wait until morning. you can wait until morning forever until the guy respawns, so just eat a big game meat, wait until morning, rinse and repeat. each big game meat gives you +0.75 to your weight, with a max and minimum weight of 7.5.
Got it done today. 03/03/2023. Followed this guide and it was still a struggle. Getting shot whilst picking seemed to be a coin flip. Collecting all 4 plants took me about 15 attempts so very time consuming 😂 Excellent guide video. It’s amazing what lengths us gamers will go for a silly costume.
I’ll start by saying this is the most helpful guide there is on TH-cam. However I have a couple tips that I found which save some time and make picking herbs much easier. Rather than searching strawberry for a wagon go to the Appleseed Timber Co and there will always be an unattended wagon. This wagon is bigger than the one shown in this video. When it comes to picking herbs rather than flying the camera into the wagon. With this bigger wagon you can just set the camera high on the right side of the wagon and let it do its thing. No need to adjust on the way in. Same with picking the herb. Just let Arthur do the action and you’ll be fine! Best of luck y’all!
The Appleseed wagon is definitely a good bet. My problem was I did this in CH4 and the camp had already disbanded. This is one merit for doing this earlier (CH2 or 3). If it’s there, definitely worth grabbing. Glad you found the guide helpful.
I attempted this tactic not an hour ago and I would like to inform those on here that as of October 17th, 2021 at 9pm EST using a covered wagon allows access to New Austin as Arthur. I am in Chapter 3, having just completed "Sodom? Back to Gomorrah." and once I was able to get through the Great Plains region with a wagon intact I faced no issues in New Austin in regards to being shot by the offscreen sniper. This video has defiantly earned my like, and I greatly appreciate the creator taking the time to share this with those who do not want to play as John in order to complete certain elements of the game.
Thanks dude. Kudos for the 4th run at 100%. Having done it a few times myself I know the effort dedication and skill involved - much more required than previous R* titles.
Pro-tip for everyone: I'm trying to find the comment so I can thank her, but one user suggested that when you're looking for covered wagons, find one of the wagons with THREE dips in the canopy, not four. The one with four may work, but the camera is a thousand times more finicky. I absolutely could not get the practice picks right with the four-dip canopy no matter what I did, but just as this user said, as soon as I found and tried a wagon with the three-dip canopy this trick worked *like a charm* almost every time (as long as I got the wagon lined up with the plant correctly.) If you see her comment in your scrolling adventures, please thank this person for me!
Somehow this video didn't work for me. Am I missing anything? I'm on PS4 pro. I tried running into new Austin straight but got killed as soon as I picked up the first flower because the camera immediately panned on me, irrespective of the angle you suggested in this video. Then I tried practice run and tried the angles that this video asked to set while getting down the wagon. But, whenever I try to pick up the flower, the camera immediately pans on me. Any help? I've the camera settings as suggested.
Another tip: if you haven’t completed the side quest for the Appleseed timber company near strawberry, I found it much easier to use the covered wagon that spawns in the camp than the traditional wagons. The canopy is taller so it’s easier to protect against the sniper shot, but you need to adjust your camera a little differently when collecting the herb. I panned it 90 degrees to the right (opppsite side that Arthur gets off) and it seems to be more consistent. I got all 4 herbs in one go.
I practiced with an appleseed wagon and your technique. It seems a lot easier to pull off than this video's technique. I think the pause glitch is now patched but I'm not sure. I'm currently at Thieves landing with my game paused. Wish me luck.
@@kira2650 Pause glitch is not patched but it can be inconsistent, use it as a last resort only, if the camera zooms in on you all the way. I think this took me like 10 runs, it's very sweaty but possible.
@@5552515 So I tried it out. The wagon was great however the run was cut short when two pinkertons were patrolling the road. I didn't have any road to turn on so I started off-roading. I got detected so I started driving as far away as I could. Long story short I got shot.... A LOT. And died. Thr worst part is I've completed the appleseed timber missions so seeing an appleseed wagon is lucky. But I'm going to try again later today.
@@kira2650 last year when I was doing this for my 1st playthrough, there was an appleseed wagon that drives by the stagecoach in Strawberry, coming south from the lake into strawberry, every morning . Can't remember the exact time, but Google it and I am sure you'll find it.
Thank you so much for this! I managed to get them all in just a few hours, never would have been able to without your help. I’m currently doing a 100% play through, so I’ll be sure to check out your other videos! Thank you again!
Thank you so much. I wouldn’t have made this without this awesome guide. I’m sure you can imagine how happy I’m right now. I just collected my last herb. Thanks again!
Thank you so much bro! My god this challenge was pain in the ass from all corners stealing a wagon, Pinkertons, camera angle and Tumbleweed lawmen. I burned out today just for this 🙁
After a week of attempting and failing tonight I finally obtained the LOTE as Arthur Morgan 11/8/21. Thank you for your help! Tip: smash the pause button over and over when you attempt to pick the herbs. That’s the only way it worked for me.
Thank you so much for this video. I finally completed this challenge as Arthur. I almost gave up on Red Sage, as I kept dying on that, but I watched your video again and realised what I was doing wrong, I was not repositioning the camera after I got off the wagon. I managed to get the remining 3 plants in one run. Also, use photo mode, you can line up your wagon perfectly using that. Thanks again partner!
I'd almost given up hope, but it was this video that made me think it was possible. Particularly the bit about exactly how to line up the camera before jumping off the wagon; that was always my problem. It took a while, but I eventually did it! Thank you so much, Jimbatron! Also, I'll add my advice to the pile that's growing in the comments: 1.) Learn to love the pain. You're not playing RDR2 anymore - you're playing Dark Souls. You will die. You will die a lot. You will die to stupid mistakes and you will die for no goddamn reason at all. If you can get two herbs or bones or whatever in a run before you're shot, then you're doing very well. But the frustration is just a part of the process, so you'll have to learn to love it. I swear, you will get better. 2.) This is more practical than point 1. The angle is crucial before you jump off the wagon, absolutely (and thanks again Jimbatron for the tip). But I'll add that you have to stay on the ball while the camera's zooming in. Keep steering it as it zooms in on Arthur, but also (and this is just as important) KEEP STEERING IT AS IT ZOOMS OUT. Think of it as 'flying' the camera through the wagon and then reversing it back out. Don't just set things up at the beginning and watch them happen. Practice the moves and make it smooth. 3.) Get a wagon with three fabric 'segments'. They're much roomier to angle the camera through, in my humble opinion. 4.) The other videos on the internet make it look easy. It's not. It's not even easy after the ninth attempt. Just remember that (as in all things on social media and the internet) you're only seeing the highlight reel; you're not seeing the screwups and the practice and the failure and the embarrassment. You'll get there too, so don't worry about it. 5.) Keep the faith. I'd almost completely given up on this, but it became something of an Everest during lockdown. It felt like an incredible 'screw you, fate' when I finally got Arthur that coat, and he wore it with pride when his story came to an end. You can do it, but you have keep at it and have some goddamn faith! 6.) Screw you for making us do this, Rockstar. All you had to do was stick a bunch of New Austin herbs in a garden somewhere (maybe Algernon Wasp's garden; he's into botany). But no. You thought Arthur was good for nothing but a tragic ending. I not-so-respectfully disagree. But also, thanks for making a character so great that it inspired us to game the game to give him what he deserves. PS: One of my favourite moments in my blooper reel was when I was trundling along with Arthur nicely covered by the camera, admiring the scenery and looking out for lawmen, when I went over one of those ramps that covers the railway line. The wagon moved way more than I thought, bumping up just enough to give me a lovely view of the back of Arthur's head. Which then exploded. I had to laugh. You know, once I'd stopped screaming.
This comment should be sealed into a Frame. What a marvelous tribute at the end too to Our Legend Arthur at the end to go along with great piece of Information. I was thinking of just doing Horseman challenge as Arthur, but, now, I'm going All in. You're breathtaking
I cannot thank You enough. This approach is working as of 24March 2022. This guide is the gold standard, in guides related to the subject. Got all the herbs required for Arthur from New Austin.
Can confirm that as of March 2022 this still works. I ended up going with the buggy from Saint Denis. I started with the covered wagon, but had trouble finding them and died quickly using them. It was just easier for me with the buggy and they’re everywhere In Saint Denis. Yes, it’s a drive back to New Austin from SD, but those buggy’s are peppy. Thanks Jimbatron, for this outstanding video that covers this in depth. Thank you.
Finally completed herbalist 9 challenge it took me 10 hours to get wild feverfew and red sage with the wagon, It wasn't easy because the camera is always going through the wagon cover and exposing Arthur's head. But then I tried the buggy method from Saint Denis it takes about 9 minutes to drive to the great plains border and it is so much easier to pick up the plants and control the camera angle. Wish I have went with the buggy before, I got blackcurrant and desert sage in one go. Anyways thank you for this awesome guide, I can't believe how much time and effort you have put into it.❤🌹
I've done it again!!! Back in 2021 I follow Eden's video, and managed to get all 4 plants in 2 days. Now I replayed the game on PS5, I said to myself I don't need to get the outfit for Arthur, you've done it before, no need for the unnecessary stress, but here I am on my collecting the last plant, desert sage. I've read it somewhere and apply it on my current run that after you line up to the plant, after you press dismount, quickly hold down the down button d-pad (PS5), it slows that the time and but the camera movement run normally makes it easier to align the camera to not show Arthur's head. This helped me a lot.
Holy crap okay so i tried this for the first time today (4-16-2021) and i was having so much trouble so i wanted to reinforce a tip i saw in another comment for anyone playing on console: use the covered wagon with 3 dips in the canvas cloth rather than 4 cloth dips (smaller, taller, the one i found was pulled by 2 suffolk punches rather than 2 shires) I practiced with a wagon with 4 cloth dips first and the camera zoomed through the cloth every single time i tried picking a plant. it was SO frustrating. but the moment i tried a wagon with 3 cloth dips it worked flawlessly and i’m ready to conquer the east! Thank you SO much for making this video!
Done and domino! Finally. I have done this quest at least once before (on the PS4) this time I attempted it on a PS5. And no sir Jimbatron, your voice is not boring, it is comforting, that is why I went back to this video for this attempt and location of the herbs. :) Now, here are some tips and tricks I would like to share. Doing this on the PS5 was harder, due to camera angles. The camera likes to zoom in on Arthur, no matter what. Here are a few things to take into consideration, some may be mentioned in this video, some may not. - The most IMPORTANT advice. When moving up and down your wagon, press the DOWN (on playstation) button the second you move. That slows everything down, BESIDES your joysticks. That gives you the extra time you might need to adjust if your camera angle is a bit off. On the PS5 i noticed (the hard way...) that I also had to use this trick as I picked the plant as the camera wanted to zoom in on Arthur. - I could for my life not get this done with the covered wagon, the buggy is the only thing that ever worked for me. It is a long ride, but if you keep L2 (on the playstation) pressed, the horse will take you to your waypoint without you having to do anything. It will not save you time but atleast you can do something else during the ride. :) - If using the buggy, do not cross the border while it is dark. The Pinkertons might (and probably will).. shoot your lanterns out which means game over. - Make sure you lose the law before crossing the bridge to Thieves Landing (meaning the "wanted" level is completely gone). This way the law will not bother you in New Austin. Atleast it never did for me. - Use PHOTO MODE to make sure you are lined up properly to the herbs. That is about it I think. Good luck everyone. :)
I’ll try the buggy tonight. I tried once or twice the first time, but was still inexperienced. Switched to the covered wagon because I hated the trip from Saint Denis. But for the life of me I cannot stop it from zooming on the covered wagon. Will update a little later. Thanks for the tips!
@@Tristan_ShulerImho, unless one is extremely skilled and fast it is close to impossible to do it on the PS5 without using the down button, since it zooms on Arthur regardless. You still have to be super fast though and press it immediately after going up/down and picking the herb. Practice picking few herbs at a safe spot while using it to get the hang of it. You probably will fail few times (as did I atleast) but you can do it! Keep us updated and best of luck :)
@@MsSnuzzle 5th try tonight with the buggy. Not sure how im being shot, but I am. Made it to the first herb on the first try, but sniped before I even got out of the buggy. Every other time since I’ve died randomly while driving the buggy. Is it that small hole the sniper hits me through?
Alright, after 4 attempts and around 3 to 4 hours in total I've managed to pull this off. One useful thing to add here: you can avoid the deadly Pinkertons entirely if you enter the Great Plains pursued by the law, or better yet, bounty hunters! They'll prevent Pinkertons from spawning as long you keep them in range. Unfortunately, they really like to shoot the wagon's wheels instead of Arthur, which may break it completely. But with some good distance this can also be avoided and it's certainly cheaper than a dozen of health tonics. Anyway, this video's been of great help - I also really like the structure, narration and time stamps. Thanks for the guide and best of luck to everyone else!
Commenting on this video too because you are an absolute legend. THANK YOU for this guide and all your other ones. Patience and perseverance are the biggest keys to getting this done. Took me two entire nights and I finally got all 4 herbs. I died over 10 times for the first herb and 2 attempts to get the last three in one go. Thank you once again! It still works 12/29/22 and completed during chapter 2.
I did it! Took me nearly 5 hours I think but I got the last 3 plants on the same run! The camera actually went past the wagon every time for me, but the pause trick worked almost flawlessly! Thanks for the guide, now I'm off to do Horseman 9
Great job getting it done. Glad his helped. There is a Horseman 9 as Arthur guide linked in the description of you haven’t seen it. It’s tricky, but you’ve done the part that was by far the hardest!
Finally. Back then things were easier, I did the Bronte glitch and got them no problem. Eventually my save data was corrupted and I stopped because I've already beaten the game 100%. I wanted to redo a 100% and get everything I can with Arthur because he IS the Legend of the East and I thought Rockstar surely would tolerate atleast a little fun (Ohh what a fool I was.) Anyway, a few tips. Even if the drive is longer, always go for the buggy, it's faster, has more protecting and it is WAY easiert to shield yourself, 9/10 cases you will be safe and and the camera won't go though the buggy. Also, I think they've patched the wagon spawns in Strawberry. All the wagons I've seen had the white hood, yes, but it was retracted so it isn't of much use. Can we just appreciate how Rockstar always has to play fun police and patch every glitch that's slightly fun? But then give's a rat's a$$ about the real, gamebreaking buggs? Anyway, kope this'll help some of you.
I found the two-horse, white-tarp, full-top -coveted- covered* wagon riding through Strawberry just now on my first attempt, so they definitely still spawn in Strawberry. Unfortunately I don't quite understand what "line the wheel up with the plant" means, whether that means put the plant next to the wheel or in front of the wheel, and the proper positioning is about the only thing that's not described in exceptional detail, so I'm having a lot of trouble getting the plants during practice. I'm glad to hear that the buggy works better, even if it is more work on the front end for an easier time later. I'm definitely gonna give the buggy a try! Edit: Samsung autocorrect is a joke.
I must say I am currently trying to do this and have found the buggy is far more reliable as you say. One thing i am finding is you have to really really watch when you turn sharply as one inch out and the gun of god shoots you through the gap. Currently trying to get red sage and am thinking about getting the last 3 together because of their proximity to each other.
Just did it on my PS4!! Exhausting but totally worth it. Spamming the pause button helped a lot. Greetings from Germany and thanks a lot for the great video!
Just finished the challenge today (late Dec. '20) all thanks to this video! A few things I've noticed: 1. On console (I'm on PS4), despite adjusting all camera settings, there are 2 zooms (once when Arthur jumps off the wagon and a secondary zoom when Arthur picks the herbs). Usually the secondary zoom is what causes the POV to go through the wagon, so adjusting the camera angle before issuing the command to pick the herb is critical to ensure the canvas properly serves as a "barrier" to this secondary zoom. 2. Can't stress enough the importance of practice; there are a few Yarrows around Fort Riggs (which is on the way to cross into Great Plains anyways) that can used to great effect. 3. Just a heads up, the pause glitch @ 16:20 didn't work for me. Perhaps I was spamming it a bit too much so the sniper clock didn't reset correctly. 4. Sometimes it may not be a bad idea to have Pinkertons chase after you, at a "somewhat" safe distance. I've had a few tries where I successfully evaded the Pinkertons initially and thought I didn't have to spend any health tonic at all only to have them show up right at the crossing into New Austin. None of those attempts ended well... 5. In none of my attempts did a 2-horse wagon show up right inside (or around) Strawberry. Like someone said, the Appleseed Timber Company is there to help. They'll be more than happy to lend you one at the cost of a tiny bit of honor and nothing else. Take the one farther away from the gentleman who warns you about wolves to avoid being reported for a crime. This is great stuff! Thanks again for the help and detailed info, now I'm a proud owner of the Legend of the East outfit and Arthur is rocking it for the rest of the game!
After a whole day trying to do this I finally finished. After like my 4th attempt, somehow I stopped getting chased by Pinkertons and was able to go straight over the boarder into NA. I appreciate this video man. My thumb tired asf from pressing “A”😂
As of Feb 26th, 2023 I can say that this guide I still 100% accurate. Even the pause trick still works (lol took me a bit to get the hang of). I just wanted to say thank you so much for this guide! After 3 days of cursing, eye twitching, strained nerves, and mood swings lol I gotta say I can't stop smiling at seeing Arthur rightfully rocking the Legend of the east outfit! The camera definitely screwed me over on many occasions lol but it's finally done! Thanks again you absolute legend and to anyone else still trying...YOU CAN DO IT! DONT GIVE UP!!!
@@busi-person6614 Yeah i think but it's so hard for me. Instead i get legend of the east with another glitch the easy way without herbalist 9 in new austin if you haven't done gambler 9 yet.
Also finished the herbalist challenge thanks to this guide. Camera angle was just important to avoid a killing shot of the sniper. When the wagon was parked beside the herb, I've just used pause, unpause, pause etc... during the whole process of picking the herb and there was not a single shot of the sniper. Worked 100 %. So I'm a happy man. Arthur has the LOTE, 21 goldbars, the Missouri Fox Trotter, and last but not least, our friend Micah Bell is still in jail where he belongs. I'm gonna stay a long, long, long time in chapter 2.
I’m in Ch2 taking my sweet sweet time as well. LOTE, MFT, No Micah, Dutch stuck in his tent with Molly (less whining in my ears) and no *cough cough* yet. Have been looking for hacks to try get to New Austin and I am definitely excited to try this out!!
@@peakay390 Ok, take your time, learn from the mistakes and all other unexpected possibilities that dramatically can end the mission, but never, ever give up. You have no idea how fast you can learn the different mechanics in a game... I think it took me 20, 25 tries to finish herbalist 9, but I took my time and learned from every failure. The last herb, i was confident, because I knew what to do... When you finish this challenge, the feeling of relief is immense. Games influence emotions, but a lesser-known fact is that emotions influence gaming outcomes. Good luck peakay390!
Thanks for the video it helped me a lot! If anyone wants to attempt to do this challenge as Arthur on a new playthrough I recommend doing it while "The First Shall be Last" mission from chapter 2 is available. The Pinkertons that spawn will deal little damage and will lose you very fast. Good luck!
I did it! Only took me one day! What finally made it click was lining up the camera before getting off the wagon. The right edge of the tarp was just touching the right horse's rear end on its left side, and I angled the camera from there so that only the tip of the left horse's right ear was showing.
This is by far the best guide for this. It took some patience, but I was finally able to get them. The pause spam trick came in handy big time when I messed up the angle when exiting the wagon. Thank you for taking the time to put this together.
Still works as of January 22nd, 2023. Took me roughly four hours of attempts after finding this video. I figured I’d share some pointers. 1. When it comes to picking the right wagon, as others have pointed out you want a 3 canvas wagon as it’s taller than a 4 canvas wagon, which provides you with more camera maneuverability. Preferably the wagon should be empty so that your camera moves into the back of the wagon when you dismount, though in my second time getting into New Austin itself I managed to collect both Red Sage and Black Currant in one attempt with a filled wagon using the pause glitch. Also, getting the right wagon to spawn in Srawberry probably took about 25% of the time I spent doing this. 2. Before getting into New Austin there were many failed attempts where I was annihilated by the Pinkertons. I cannot stress enough how vital Minted Big Game Meat and potent health tonics are to ensuring you do not die here. Additionally you should really have at least an 80% health core just to make sure you maximize the amount of punishment Arthur can take. My cores were all 90% from doing other challenges and naturally leveling up. 3. Make sure you know where you are going! I failed many attempts by simply taking wrong turns and driving headfirst into more Pinkertons. Pay close attention to the path he follows in this video in order to avoid this. Once you get the route memorized, failing and returning won’t be nearly as hard since in addition to already knowing where you’re going, you will also have more of the map filled out. 4. The camera positioning when dismounting and pause glitch are both unpredictable. Now perhaps this is more true for me since I didn’t practice at all before just jumping straight into the real deal, but don’t get too upset with yourself if you mess up either of those because it’s super finicky. What can you really expect when you’re trying to defy the intentions of the developers? 5. Though it varies, the hardest part for me was getting the desert sage. So many times (at least four) I trekked all across the map perfectly executing every other part of the plan, just to die miserably right before the finish line. The desert sage is the furthest plant from you, and getting to it then dying is mentally exhausting. It is an exercise of pure mental endurance. If you have persistence, then you will accomplish your goal. Finally, I just want to say that this video is the most comprehensive, helpful, and easily followable guide out there on how to do this. Absolutely could not have done this without the guide, so thank you very much. I’m 6 challenges down and the rat is still in prison. Only have Survivalist, Horseman, and Bandit left now, which should be relatively easy compared to this and the gambler challenge. Should be able to get the Legend of the East outfit midway through Chapter 3. Just need the horse fence to open up, then all prerequisites should be met. Thank you again for the awesome video.
@@wedelsonsilva2719 the milk cart doesn’t work, it isn’t bullet proof, the sniper bullet goes through the wood. Not through canvas though. R* physics make about as much sense as the whole concept of an invisible sniper!
@@Jimbatron Help me configure my camera on the PS4, I'm having difficulties, I did as in the video, but when I get off the wagon, the camera already goes up to Arthur in 3rd person. If help is available, I just imagine that there is no way, due to the PS4 update (Build 1491.16)
Finally did it! Thank you for your guide :) Tried different wagon, still took 5 attempts and almost 5 hours, but finally got it done :) Arthur got outfit he deserves (still in chapter 3). ;) PS. Found Blackcurrant near railtracks just after bridge you see on 35:28. Desert sage is also available near railtracks below Rathskeller Fork (low risk of facing lawmen there) - saw three desert sage plants there :)
@@maingame3932 it’s just really difficult. Best advice I can give is practice near Strawberry where if you don’t get it right you can try again, and don’t go into NA until you can get it right more than half the time.
@@maingame3932 i play on Xbox. Try to find wagon with two horses and three piece canvas (four piece canvas wagons didn't work for me). When it comes to right angle - try to practice near Fort Riggs (few mint, yarrow plants, carrots are there). Use widest camera setting (and then turn photo mode on to move wagon right next to plant before dismounting). I got shot two times through canvas while dismounting/examining herb, there is no 100% guaranteed method to get all plants in one attempt :( good luck :)
@@pawes6340 I'm on PS, Thanks for the tips mate appreciate that 👍, yeah R* don't want arthur to have this sick outfit, your arthur must be badass now with this sick outfit 😍🔥. I will try my best 🤘.
He shows only a specific angle to stay alive and pick the herb but there are more angles. You can find one that suits you better . It will take a lot of time but it’s worth it because once you get it , it’s always gonna be easy to pick the herbs.
Still works as of April 2023, followed this guide to a T and it worked. Took about 4 hours but it was worth it. Couldn’t have done it without this guide , thank you partner 💯 outlaws til the end
YES!,,,Just done it in one go after about 5 times ,,, practice finding the sweet spot picking the herbs so camera doesn't poke through the hood of wagon. Your the man, thank you.👍🙏
Dude I've tried like 30 times. The camera will be in the wagon when I hop off and I'll get shot through it. Also the pause method doesn't work for me. How??
Just about to do this for a second time. Another hint, before you go picking, you may find it easier to just ride through New Austin to get rid of the fog of war. Its easier to put your way points accurately when the map is uncovered.
After a whole month I finally managed it today using this method and Arthur finally has the LOTE! A few observations 1. Do not underestimate the value of practising picking herbs in Big Valley. There is a lot of trial and error particularly because, even when you follow the above guidance for setting up the camera, getting it to not zoom in when you pick the plants involves you getting the angle just right. I personally reccomend you pick at least 4 or 5 herbs before you venture into new austin. 2. Persevere. You will get all the way to a herb and die. You will have the pinkertons shread you in seconds. You will have some inexplicable unlucky crap happen that frustrates you no end. But you will do it. Thus challenge is the hardest thing you can do but you will do it. Keep at it. Its taken me a month but you will do it. Eventually. 3. When you get through beechers hope, take a left across the railway tracks into new austin. Drive along the tracks as much as you can. There is less chance of meeting the law or anybody else at all. 4. When you get off the wagon, lower the camera so its just above the wood (so the bullet still hits the camera) and then move the camera slightly left and right repeatedly. I found this stopped the camera from zooming through the canvas quite so frequently. It isn't fool proof just something I found worked for me. 5. Keep the camera as far up above you as possible. The sniper did get me because it moved a fraction of an inch and a little part of Arthur was exposed. Good luck!
I can confirm that this still works as of October 10th of 2022, however the pause backup glitch doesn't work anymore ( but i can't say enough how fucking grateful I am for you making this guide, RESPECT + )
Thank you for this great guide! I have finally completed Arthur's adventure into New Austin picking all 4 plants. Took me maybe around 20 runs in total before I managed to pick all of the plants. I can confirm that your discovery of the "mash-the-pause-button" still works as of today, and it did save me on two occasions. It is very easy to mess up the camera angle when you tell Arthur to pick the plant, so it is handy to have this fallback glitch. Keep up the good work, I like your videos very much👏👏
Fucking legend. Appreciate the time and dedication toward the video. Just recently decided to replay rdr2 and wanted the legend of the east. You came in clutch.
Glad you found this useful. Worth checking out the link to unlockable eden gaming who I think discovered the wagon method first. There's a danger though that if you see a video of someone who knows what they are doing (and there's several people with videos showing they've done this) it looks easy - it isn't. A lot of practice is needed to set up the camera angle correctly, and if you get it slightly wrong it's game over. So I thought a more descriptive guide was needed. But all credit to the person who discovered this possibility: th-cam.com/channels/Y81jQc-HoPYJDdc-h4_YoA.html
It still works to this day (24/02/21) This is the best and most awesome guide, after a few minutes of practice i manage to get the first 3 plants in my first try (i died in the last one sadly). I wish more guides where as precise and helpful as yours. Great job partner !!!
Do you have any tips ? Because i did a lot more than a few minutes of practise and i keep getting shot because i think my camera angle is too low and i get shot through the wood..
@@ritchienithoo9479 Mmm when you get off to get the plant or while your driving ? While your driving you can position the camera looking a bit towards Arthur's left for bumps in the road and some extra proteccion When you pick up a flower, the best thing i can recommend is to look a tiny bit up And when you're on ground standing in front of the flower, try to adjust the camera a bit up and look to you're right a little In other words, try to make the back entry of the waggon the only thing you can see, that will stop the camera to go towards the wood of the floor of the waggon... Extra tip: you can get unlimited amount of cougar pelts if you do a circle on the path of brandywine drop, starting from cabin of the widow, go down the path and make your way towards the cabin where you can sleep (the one almost right next to the river, not the one with the treassure map), then go to the viking tomb, then follow the path until you get to the abandon train station (the one near Marko Dragic's lab) A cougar will spawn in the area, search for him until you find him (if it doesn't spawn, repeat the previous steps, it doesn't take more than two repetitions to make it spawn) After you killed it and skinned it, put the carcass in your horse and throw it away, this will make another one to respawn the next cicle.
@@Jimbatron Thanks for the tip ! Managed 3/4 and got shot through the wood while picking the herb on the last one..Definitely improving, with some luck i'll get the last one soon !
Personally since I'm on console the Saint Denise wagon did A LOT better for me with camera not going through the wagon. Once I got the proper camera angle I did it in one run! I really appreciated the guide man!! Keep up the good work
Glad you found this helpful, great job getting it done. Yes the buggy is definitely easier to get the camera angle. I have the game on the Xbox and PC. My perception is on the PC the wheels fall of the Buggy more easily when the Pinkertons shoot you, making the more durable wagon a better option on that platform. But on the console it feels the buggy isn't so brittle, and maybe is better there. This could be to do with higher framerates on my PC, causing the Pinkertons to unload quicker (shooting rates are affected by FPS in all recent R* games), but I'm just speculating.
@@Jimbatron Yeah I don't know about Red Ded but if you watch DarkViperAU videos he talks about how important FPS can be sometimes in speed running GTA. Rockstar can be very weird sometimes with how they treat the FPS in there games honestly
@@therealdirtydan1234 it’s all on the rage engine so almost certainly the same. They ought to work on capping the impact of very high fps. I imagine they can’t decouple it completely because the game has to render the bullets. But they could at least stop them being accelerated to stupid rates. Not impossible RDR2 is different as it’s the newest version of rage. But there are fewer automatic weapons in the game so not sure why they would bother.
@@Jimbatron Sorry it took me so long to replay. But it honestly seems like rockstar sadly care more for the consul versions of there games. Most of the time it takes them a few months to release the PC versions of their games. And most of the time it seems like they're not really optimized for PC. Also I appreciate your input and you replying to my comments dawg. You deserve more subs and likes on your vids!
Thanks for this Partner! I'm doing a platinum run and completing as much as possible with Micah in Strawberry jail. Gems like this help keep that maniac where he belongs.
No problem, hope this helps. To warn you it’s tedious and requires patience to pull off - it took me about 10 failed attempts. But it’s the only way afaik after they patched the Bronte Glitch.
I never would have even tried this if not for this video. Got it done in Chapter 3 after about a dozen trips. The Pause Trick saved my ass twice. Thank you so much for posting this.
Big props to this man for this amazing video. Still works as of 12/18/2022. Very well explained. I watched it a few days ago and I finally got the 4 herbs. This is such a nice exploit and the grinding justs add a new dimension to the game. Man were my hands sweaty on each run. I got the first three herbs on my first run, died picking up the 4th one; Sage. Then I tried again, and again. Finally got it with the pausing glitch. I'm a happy man now. THANK YOU. For all of u who are still behind it, Good LUCK !
Omg I made it! 25/02/2021 and I made it. Thank you so much for this! I'm in my third run, chapter 2, and for the love of God I can use the outfit on Arthur. Thank you again!
Can confirm that this method works on the latest patch of pc (august 1, 2021). Just did this today, after testing it on the weekend, 5 herbs (prairy poppy too) on one go. For anyone trying for the first time you will want the two horse wagon with longer cloth cover (less lateral wooden frame). Not all models work the same, as I found it easier, and more reliable, pushing the camera to the right side of the wagon while you dismount, making you protected by two cloths so to say, with this type of wagon. While on this position you can pick the herb and mount the wagon with little worries. I would say you try it several times before. After that, major problem is the lawmen in New Austin if they see you, as they will hunt you down with dozens of horsemen. I barely survived in my successful run, was also able to return to Big Valley alive, one less wheel on the wagon, of course.
I just finished getting the 4th plant in New Austin. Thanks a lot Jimbatron! It took five attempts to get them all. It was difficult to get the camera not to see Arthur when picking, so I used the pause glitch to get them and was able to get the last three plants in the same attempt. The attempts when Authur didn't have a mask on seemed to have many fewer lawman in New Austin.
I can't thank you enough. Your guide is the best, hats off. After 4 days of failure I finally managed to get it done today. Without you, I'd never have made it. Thank you, good sir. (This method still works, as of 11/2/2021, on Xbox Series console). The date is November 2, 2021, if anyone's confused by the format. Some important details for your attention: 0.) The console version of the game does not have "3rd person field of view" slider. It can still be done, though. 1.) The wagon favored in the video has two variants: one with lantern and one without. You should never choose the one with the lantern because that can and will get you killed, unless you're extremely lucky. I wouldn't trust RNG, tbh. 2.) The New Austin sniper can occasionally shoot through the canvas, no matter what. In spite of the fact that Arthur's body is entirely concealed, the sniper will be able to land killshots. When you see Arthur taking damage from the sniper fire, there's not a single thing you can do. It's unfortunate. You might want to start reloading your savegame, unless it's a one shot kill, which it usually is. When does this happen? It's completely random and spontaneous. If you have more information about this, feel free to share. 3.) From my experience, Lawmen either spawn in New Austin or they don't at all. There were times when I ran into quite a few of them, and there were times when none of them spawned throughout the whole journey. I found that wearing a mask reduces the chances of running into Lawmen in New Austin. I may be wrong and it may have been a coincidence in my case, I can't tell for sure. Open your map a lot in New Austin to see if there's any Lawmen and keep distance from them. 4.) The Pause menu glitch does not work consistently (11/2/2021). Do not rely on it! Maybe I'm just a noob and I didn't do it correctly but it only worked twice, out of 9 attempts. As said in the video, you must practice picking herbs if you want to pull this off. 5.) Don't lure the local law from Strawberry to New Austin's entrance in the hopes of having to burn fewer tonics! I've heard people say on Reddit it's the better option. The local lawmen from Strawbery shoot at your wagon a lot more than your body, which results in your horses dying or your wheels falling off. Pinkertons use their superhuman John Wick aim to shoot at your body, rather than the wagon, most of the time. Jimbatron's method is the best. If you worry about tonics, unlock the Tonics Satchel at least and then do the "Landmark of the Riches" treasure hunt for 6 gold bars or just retrieve some from lockboxes that are available in Chapter 2, then purchase 99 potent health tonics. 6.) Be extremely careful with sharp turns. If one single pixel of Arthur's head gets exposed you're pretty much done for. Practice doing sharp turns before you pay those New Austin plants a visit. 7.) Don't forget to tweet Rockstar Games a photo of your Arthur posing in the LoTE outfit! They can GTFO with this invisible sniper bullsh*t nonsense. Now that I finished the Herbalist challenge in Chapter 2, I'll definitely flip Rockstar off. Thank you again Jimbatron! Took me 4 goddamn days. About 30 attempts in total.
Just completed it as Arthur in chapter 2 as of August 1st 2022 Here are my tips for anyone looking to complete this challenge - Practice Practice Practice and practice some more until you get it down perfectly - WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW HARD IT IS - The Pause trick should only be used as a last resort as it doesn’t always work - Use a canvas wagon that has 3 SECTIONS Of CANVAS NOT 4 SECTIONS - in my experience they seem to protect you more as it has more canvas than wood - SAVE AFTER YOU PICK A HERB - if you are really struggling with any of the herbs take a break and come back in a bit and try again - YOU ARE MOST LIKELY NOT GOING TO GET IT IN A 1 OR 2 ATTEMPTS- So don’t be frustrated if you fail and have to start over thinking it’s your fault ,don’t worry it’s not it’s the games - and finally DON’T GIVE UP YOU WILL GET IT EVEN IF IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE AT FIRST AND ITS WORTH THE EFFORT SEEING ARTHUR WEAR THE LEGEND OF THE EAST OUTFIT
@@bersek5795 some thoughts on that 1) put off “the first shall be the last” as long as possible to reduce Pinkerton spawns on the Great Plains. 2) you’ll want to do the first Stauss mission to unlock the ledger and craft the legend of the east satchel - otherwise herbalist 7 will be a real pain 3) you can’t do Bandit 6 until you unlock the horse fence in ch3
@@Jimbatron oh alright thanks for the help! i usually just speedrun thru the game lmao so i dont really do the challanges or anything like that i just now started to actually get into the like actual game after 6 playthroughs
Okay, this wasn’t easy but I completed it just now, after my 14th try. I became so accustomed to the routes that it became quick. The only problematic part was the picking up 🌿. Whenever I picked up it would zoom in and boom dead. The only thing that helped me get through was the camera mode. The trick was to align Arthur exactly in front of the herb to be picked. U can check this using camera mode. Any I subbed to your channel and thanks a lot for getting me through this.
I did it on my first try going into New Austin! At the last plant I accidentally slapped the horse before getting the sage and the horses started to take off so I had to jump back on the wagon and reposition myself but I got it in the end. I will name my firstborn after you great sir
Thank you very much. I followed this video and spend 2 days to complete this challenge. A finding for anyone who still want to finish this; there will be a wagon constantly spawn in the wood construction side Northeast of Strawberry.
For everyone still looking - as of day 10th August 2022 this method is still working very well! (The fall back glitch showed in 16:20 works as well) Thank you so so much for this dude! I've just managed to get all herbs after 4 tries but it was completely worth it :) I also have a tip for anyone who is planning on using this method: I recommend to start heading towards New Austin in the late evening, so when you cross the bridge after which Pinkertons stop chasing you it's around 7/8pm Doing that lowers the chances of encountering any lonely lawmen (as the one showed in 16:00) (When I attempted to ride to NA during the day I've run into sometimes two or three of them on my way, which caused me to try to rapidly turn around and ride away in order for them to not notice me and in panic I accidentally moved the camera to the side and the invisible sniper shot me lol)
I've watched a view of your videos now, and just wanted to say thank you for the incredibly detailed guides. You make everything very simple and easy to understand. Well done
Thank you thank you thank you so much sir... I just did this I used the pause spam glitch... It took me Lord knows how many tries, but I did it. Needless to say, I ain't ever gonna do this again... Once is enough for a lifetime....
Still works as of March 2024. Thanks for your comprehensive explanation. Nice to have it from a fellow Brit too. I had to use the glitch multiple times. I clearly didn’t practise enough times. You’ve really got to keep mashing that start button. You give the sniper a second and you’re a goner.
Thing is, it can be quite tricky keeping them on you all the way past thieves landing which is what you have to do. I've always had pinkertons spawn as far as that. I tried keeping the law on me when I got the prairy poppy and i still wound up with the pinkertons and an "if it moves, shoot it. Policy"
Such an awesome, informative video! It was pretty intense, my first attempt I accidentally hit a rock after exiting Beecher's Hope and lost one of my wheels, which made everything much more stressful because the wagon was bouncing around a lot more than usual. Ended up dying while trying to grab the second plant because I messed up the angle and the sniper shot through the wood. Great find on the pause buffer trick! After that dumb death I just mashed the pause button as soon as I pick the herb just to be safe. Very happy to be done with this challenge (well I still have to collect the other 39 plants, but at least I can do that in peace hahahah)
@@Jimbatron Bro you remember me I just collected two herbs in my first try and when I was getting the blackcurrant I messed up and got shot in the head. I want to thank you for making this video and Now I am going to get the other two remaining herbs on my second try. Thank you!
@@Jimbatron Bro I got all the 4 herbs, but I just found out that to complete herbalist 9, you have to collect two more herbs which are also in New Austin, English Mace and Paire Poppy why didn't you do it in this video?
Thank you so much for this well explained guide! While trying many times to get the plants with your guide and different methods from other videos, I actually found that it was a lot easier with the little coach from Saint-Denis
DUDE ! Best tutorial ever! Took me one try to get through the first 3 herbs, then for some reason, the sniper decided to really show up, and I got sniped just as soon as I dipped my head for the desert sage. But I saved regularly, so the Desert Sage was the only one I had to redo, drove to its location, got off the wagon, picked it, immediately saved, immediately got sniped xD whatever, I did it, got the four herbs you can only find in Austin, so thankful for your tutorial, it was valuable like you wouldn't believe! Arthur f***ing deserves the Legend of the East Outfit :D
Thanks very much Jimbatron! Your guides are the best out there. I'd never have completed the herbalist challenge early without your help. I appreciate all your hard work. Gotta check out your other guides now. Thanks again.
Just as a bit of humor, after one of the recent patches, Arthur gets constantly nagged in camp for not wearing warmer clothes. It doesn't matter what he wears, everybody says some annoying shit to him on a frequent basis. When I got Arthur the LOE outfit, I fully expected that to stop since this is a special outfit. "Aren't you cold in that?" was the first fuckin thing I heard when I wore it into camp.
After hours and hours of wasted attempts only managing to get the Wild Feverfew and days of telling myself I'll complete this cursed challenge, I finally did it all in one go. To those which are doing the challenge I have some advice for you. 1. Use the Photo Mode to see the plant 2. Do not give up 3. There are is a wagon with an even more uplifted seat than most wagons, steer clear feom that. 4. Don't give up on the challenge thank you jimbatron
There are several variants to the wagons which can cause things to end badly. Some wagons are shorter. Some are longer with four segments (instead of three) and will always reveal Arthur when he leans down to pick the herb. Others have a higher wooden frame and therefore less protection. The most comical design hazard for me was the *one* time I successfully picked a herb using the wagon method and the sniper shot the oil lamp hanging on the side of the vehicle. Although the actual shot missed Arthur's head; the wagon caught fire, the horses bolted and you know the rest
It works! I just got The legend of the East as Arthur! (JAN 31 2021) and it is my birthday, this outfit is such a cool gift. I finished Herbalist 9 few days before I write this comment. Thank you for your precious works! I intended to complete all challenge in chapter 3 and get a outfit, make the gang members proud. Haha 😁
@@Jimbatron Honestly, when I ride a wagon while having a sniper shot at me every second, adjust a camera precisely, go down and pick herbs is a LOT of pressure, I found that riding a wagon near Blackwater to avoid Pinkerton is a much easier task if compare with that one. 😂😂😂

This video shows how to collect the 4 plants unique to New Austin as Arthur Morgan before the Epilogue.
Part II shows how to collect the Prairie Poppy from the Great Plains:

Jimbatron, I would literally pay you do this for me. I can’t do it. I’ve tried and tried.
@Harley Bradford Dude, that'd be dope as hell.
Can someone help me do this it’s such a nuisance
@Jimbatron any guidance on how to angle the camera before issuing the command to pick? I have no bother remaining covered when getting off its only when I pick the herb that the camera zooms in and I get shot (or re start when in Big Valley).
When looking for solutions to this problem on YT, I initially bypassed this video. "Ugh, this guy sounds boring and 43 minutes? There's gotta be a better way." Guess what. There isn't. This is the most informative and easy to understand solution to getting Arthur the Herbalist challenge completed. I regret not watching this sooner.

I am now proud to see my him wearing one, all thanks to you, good sir. You are a legend yourself. Onto the next challenge - 100% completion, using your guide as well.
I mean he is heading East in the main story he deserves it
and also hes going through every mans fear, the sniper
Me and Arthur are writing this as proud owners of Legend of the East outfit. Many many thanks for this video - it was very helpful, truly appreciated. I was ready to give up once I saw how many efforts these 4 herbs take, but eventually I collected them all after multiple attempts and deaths. Also, I confirm it still works as of October 19th 2022. I did it during Chapter 4. And pause tip was a lifesaver!
To whomever is on their way to do this - YOU CAN DO IT! Best of luck and don't give up!
Glad this helped, great job getting it done and thanks for reporting it still works
Thank You!!! Very cool? Isn't there 6 herbs exclusive in new Austin?
@@Pachurraz no this is a common misconception. 4 are unique to NA - Wild Feverfew, Desert Sage, Red Sage, and Blackcurrant. Prairie Poppy can be found in the Great Plains (you’ll still have to worry about Pinkertons but no sniper). English Mace can be found in Ambarino. Check the links in the description for where to find these.

Thanks for leaving a comment. Glad this helped and great job getting it done.
Thanks man

Arthur: Nah, but i got you some flowers 🤠
Did the rest in Chapter 4 as well with a combo of the Buggy and Brontë methods 🎉💯

Thanks man you're an absolute Chad. This is wat should appear on recommend when I search for not 2 year old videos with glitch that doesn't even work anymore
While doing the challenge I noticed a few things with the wagon:
-It has to be an empty wagon.
Good to hear. I'm still trying to get the camera angles right with the covered wagon but it's all very disheartening because I can kill it with the buggy, but the damn thing is so brittle. Yet, on the other hand, the covered wagon is so slow 😰
I'm no filthy casual, though. I'll get it eventually.
I’m commenting for 2 reasons:
1) I could not have done this without your video.
Bonus: I did the majority of it in pitch black, picking the last flower at 7:06am in-game time
But again, I definitely couldn’t have done it without your video! Subscribed, can’t wait to see the your current/upcoming videos 💯
Glad this helped, great job getting it done.
Thank you very much. I just finished this challenge on ps4 and it only took me two attempts. The pause glitch really worked and saved me in the last two plants pickups.

Great job getting it done, glad this helped
I can never look at a covered wagon the same way again...
A few things to note about this challenge:
1. It is possible. For a while I thought I could never do it, but eventually I did. You just need a lot of patience
2. This helped me a little bit, but when you’re riding in new Austin, wear a mask. This helped the law not recognize m as much. If they do recognize you, it’s still possible to outrun them
@@OutlawedPoet were you able to get the Otis miller revolver using the pause glitch?
@@davidcsik9761 nah it's not possible. it turns out that the pause glitch isn't actually a thing. all it does is just dramatically slow down time. the reason why the guy in the video survived is because if the camera is directly on a bullet proof surface even if it's not clipping directly through it, the bullets will still hit the object. I did some testing though and it IS possible to get the revolver using the meat shield method, but it's going to require some insane RNG and a lot of attempts. at that point you might as well just wait until the angelo bronte glitch.
@@OutlawedPoet I appreciate the info. But never forget:
-it's not possible
-no, it's necessary
😃
oh yeah, I forgot to mention something really useful that I discovered: if you lose the pinkertons before you cross the bridge to new austin, the patrolling lawmen in new austin will not spawn, which will make things a bit easier. so when you first enter the great plains, try to go as slow as possible while still maintaining a decent speed. ideally, you'll want the pinkerton patrol to spawn and spot you before or as soon as you cross into beecher's hope, then, keep the red circle on you until you enter the next big fence thing, now just slap on a mask and keep spamming the extended radar button so the pinkertons won't spawn near you. if the pinkertons do fire at you as you escape to new austin, try to keep them south-east of you so they will hit the canvas instead of you, which will save you a lot of health. sometimes, if you get lucky, you won't even be shot once by a pinkerton. by the time you get down to the bridge, the pinkertons will be gone and you can safely cross and roam around new austin without the worry of any extra lawmen.
also, a fairly minor tip but still a pretty helpful one: try to have an overweight or at the very least perfect or higher than average arthur before you attempt this. if you get unlucky and the pinkertons are shooting directly at you, they have insane damage, and if you're a tiny underweight arthur like how most players are, you'll get destroyed because of the increased damage impact that an underweight arthur has. to bump up your weight fast, cook about 15 big game meat of any variant. then head to van horn, kill the fence guy, eat a big game meat, go outside, and wait until morning. you can wait until morning forever until the guy respawns, so just eat a big game meat, wait until morning, rinse and repeat. each big game meat gives you +0.75 to your weight, with a max and minimum weight of 7.5.

@@DoritosChip668 A new one? Because the other that i know was patched
@@gracoliv7 no i mean there is another way to get the legend of the east outfit without the challenges
@@DoritosChip668 how so?
Glad you found this useful, thanks for reporting it still works. And good job getting it to work (which takes skill and patience!)
Thank you man I was just wondering if this glitch works anymore or not. Thank you 😊
@@sarojinibhavani492 other commenters have reported back that it still works
@@Jimbatron Thanks for a quick reply
I remember doing this like 7 months ago. Absolute hell but getting arthur in that full LOTE set was worth it. My favorite game ever.
4th time going for 100% and this is still my go to mainly for the flower locations. Trust this man he knows what he’s talking about.
Thanks dude. Kudos for the 4th run at 100%. Having done it a few times myself I know the effort dedication and skill involved - much more required than previous R* titles.
Pro-tip for everyone:
I'm trying to find the comment so I can thank her, but one user suggested that when you're looking for covered wagons, find one of the wagons with THREE dips in the canopy, not four. The one with four may work, but the camera is a thousand times more finicky. I absolutely could not get the practice picks right with the four-dip canopy no matter what I did, but just as this user said, as soon as I found and tried a wagon with the three-dip canopy this trick worked *like a charm* almost every time (as long as I got the wagon lined up with the plant correctly.)
If you see her comment in your scrolling adventures, please thank this person for me!
I think the camera angle as you get off the wagon is overrated, I would just screw the camera angle and spam pause, much more reliable

My god this challenge was pain in the ass from all corners stealing a wagon, Pinkertons, camera angle and Tumbleweed lawmen. I burned out today just for this 🙁
No problem glad you found this useful
Just don't go through Tumbleweed...
After a week of attempting and failing tonight I finally obtained the LOTE as Arthur Morgan 11/8/21. Thank you for your help!
Tip: smash the pause button over and over when you attempt to pick the herbs. That’s the only way it worked for me.
Glad this helped, great job getting it done
Thank you so much for this video. I finally completed this challenge as Arthur. I almost gave up on Red Sage, as I kept dying on that, but I watched your video again and realised what I was doing wrong, I was not repositioning the camera after I got off the wagon. I managed to get the remining 3 plants in one run. Also, use photo mode, you can line up your wagon perfectly using that.
Thanks again partner!
Glad this helped you out great job getting it done
I'd almost given up hope, but it was this video that made me think it was possible. Particularly the bit about exactly how to line up the camera before jumping off the wagon; that was always my problem. It took a while, but I eventually did it! Thank you so much, Jimbatron! Also, I'll add my advice to the pile that's growing in the comments:
1.) Learn to love the pain.
Great job getting it done, glad this video helped. Some good advice here too!
Glad this helped. Great job getting it done and thanks for reporting it still works.
What version of the game did this work on?
@@ivorarnold91 whatever version was running Nov 2020. But more importantly multiple people have reported it still works on the latest patch.
@@Jimbatron thanks haha I was wondering if it still works. Gonna try it tomorrow! Amazing that you're still answering
@@joaomarques7365 no worries. Best of luck with it, but be warned, this is very difficult to pull off even when you know what you are doing.
Thank you.
Thanks for reporting back it still works. Glad this helped and great job getting it done.
Anyways thank you for this awesome guide, I can't believe how much time and effort you have put into it.❤🌹
Great job getting it done, glad you found the guide useful.
Great job doing it again. Are you talking about activating Eagle Eye? Definitely worth trying.
@@Jimbatron not eagle eye, the down button on d pad, which you adjust the size of your radar.
Holy crap okay so i tried this for the first time today (4-16-2021) and i was having so much trouble so i wanted to reinforce a tip i saw in another comment for anyone playing on console: use the covered wagon with 3 dips in the canvas cloth rather than 4 cloth dips (smaller, taller, the one i found was pulled by 2 suffolk punches rather than 2 shires)
I practiced with a wagon with 4 cloth dips first and the camera zoomed through the cloth every single time i tried picking a plant. it was SO frustrating. but the moment i tried a wagon with 3 cloth dips it worked flawlessly and i’m ready to conquer the east!
Thank you SO much for making this video!
No problem glad the video helped and good job getting it done
The detail about the 3 dips in the top instead of 4 is super helpful. Thank you!!!
- If using the buggy, do not cross the border while it is dark.
@@MsSnuzzle The DOWN BUTTON THING WORKED. HOLY CRAP THE FIRST HERB IS DOWN HALLELUJAH.
Good job, glad the guide helped you get it done.
Took me 30 attempts. Haha.
Great job getting it done. Glad this helped and thanks for reporting back that it still works.
I wanted to redo a 100% and get everything I can with Arthur because he IS the Legend of the East and I thought Rockstar surely would tolerate atleast a little fun (Ohh what a fool I was.)
Anyway, a few tips.
Glad this helped, great job getting it done
Just finished the challenge today (late Dec. '20) all thanks to this video! A few things I've noticed:
Great stuff, glad the guide helped you out
After a whole day trying to do this I finally finished.

@@peakay390 Ok, take your time, learn from the mistakes and all other unexpected possibilities that dramatically can end the mission, but never, ever give up. If anyone wants to attempt to do this challenge as Arthur on a new playthrough I recommend doing it while "The First Shall be Last" mission from chapter 2 is available. The Pinkertons that spawn will deal little damage and will lose you very fast. Good luck!
Glad you found the guide useful.
I did it! Only took me one day! What finally made it click was lining up the camera before getting off the wagon. The right edge of the tarp was just touching the right horse's rear end on its left side, and I angled the camera from there so that only the tip of the left horse's right ear was showing.
Great job getting it done, I can say it's not easy even when you know how.
This is by far the best guide for this. It took some patience, but I was finally able to get them. The pause spam trick came in handy big time when I messed up the angle when exiting the wagon. Thank you for taking the time to put this together.
Glad you found this useful and great job getting it done
Great job getting it done, glad this helped. Thanks for leaving a comment and confirming it still works
Have any of you ever texted the milk cart?
@@wedelsonsilva2719 the milk cart doesn’t work, it isn’t bullet proof, the sniper bullet goes through the wood. Not through canvas though. R* physics make about as much sense as the whole concept of an invisible sniper!

Glad this helped you great job getting it done
Dude I've tried like 30 times. The camera will be in the wagon when I hop off and I'll get shot through it. Also the pause method doesn't work for me. How??
Just about to do this for a second time. Another hint, before you go picking, you may find it easier to just ride through New Austin to get rid of the fog of war. Its easier to put your way points accurately when the map is uncovered.
After a whole month I finally managed it today using this method and Arthur finally has the LOTE! A few observations
Good luck!
@jimbatron thank you so much! I wouldn't have been able to accomplish it without you and your hints!
Great job getting it done, huge kudos for the commitment to keep at it.
I did this just for the vest with the pocket watch lol. Had to make Arthur look like a dapper boah
I can confirm that this still works as of October 10th of 2022, however the pause backup glitch doesn't work anymore ( but i can't say enough how fucking grateful I am for you making this guide, RESPECT + )
Thanks for reporting it still works - great job getting it done, glad the guide helped
Can’t believe R* bothered to patch that. They paid money to do something literally nobody wanted them to do, and many did not. Imagine that.
Keep up the good work, I like your videos very much👏👏
Glad you found this helpful, great job getting it done. Thanks for reporting back it still works.
If there is another name for arthur Morgan, it must be Jim Batron. Thx for your amazing video!
You’re too kind :)
Glad you found this useful
It still works to this day (24/02/21)
This is the best and most awesome guide, after a few minutes of practice i manage to get the first 3 plants in my first try (i died in the last one sadly).
I wish more guides where as precise and helpful as yours.
Great job partner !!!
Glad this helped, great job getting the plants (not easy even when you know how).
Do you have any tips ? Because i did a lot more than a few minutes of practise and i keep getting shot because i think my camera angle is too low and i get shot through the wood..
@@ritchienithoo9479 Mmm when you get off to get the plant or while your driving ?
While your driving you can position the camera looking a bit towards Arthur's left for bumps in the road and some extra proteccion
When you pick up a flower, the best thing i can recommend is to look a tiny bit up
And when you're on ground standing in front of the flower, try to adjust the camera a bit up and look to you're right a little
In other words, try to make the back entry of the waggon the only thing you can see, that will stop the camera to go towards the wood of the floor of the waggon...
Extra tip: you can get unlimited amount of cougar pelts if you do a circle on the path of brandywine drop, starting from cabin of the widow, go down the path and make your way towards the cabin where you can sleep (the one almost right next to the river, not the one with the treassure map), then go to the viking tomb, then follow the path until you get to the abandon train station (the one near Marko Dragic's lab)
A cougar will spawn in the area, search for him until you find him (if it doesn't spawn, repeat the previous steps, it doesn't take more than two repetitions to make it spawn)
After you killed it and skinned it, put the carcass in your horse and throw it away, this will make another one to respawn the next cicle.
@@ritchienithoo9479 if you’re getting shot through the wood you need to raise the camera so the canvass is between you and the camera
@@Jimbatron Thanks for the tip ! Managed 3/4 and got shot through the wood while picking the herb on the last one..Definitely improving, with some luck i'll get the last one soon !
The pause technique is insanely good. Gotta try it, thanks!
You helped me a whole lot with horseman 9 and 10 and now you help me do herbalist 9 which I was convinced was impossible. Thank you so much!!
Thanks for leaving a comment, glad to hear this helped you out.
Guys, this is my advice, stop the first wheel of the wagon next to the flower, then get off the wagon e take it
Thanks for this Partner!
Does it still work??
Great job getting it done, glad this helped and thanks for confirming it still works.
Omg I made it! 25/02/2021 and I made it. Thank you so much for this! I'm in my third run, chapter 2, and for the love of God I can use the outfit on Arthur. Thank you again!
Good job getting it done, thanks for leaving a comment.
Great job getting it done, thanks for reporting back it still works
@@Jimbatron thank you very much for this tutorial, couldn't have done without it.
@@socramraiuga2375 no problem, glad you found it useful
A good tip is to use photo mode to angle the wagon good
I just finished getting the 4th plant in New Austin.
Great job getting it done, glad the guide helped
I can't thank you enough. Your guide is the best, hats off. After 4 days of failure I finally managed to get it done today. Without you, I'd never have made it. Thank you, good sir.
(This method still works, as of 11/2/2021, on Xbox Series console).
The date is November 2, 2021, if anyone's confused by the format.
Some important details for your attention:
0.) The console version of the game does not have "3rd person field of view" slider.
Glad you found this useful - thanks for reporting back it still works and great job for getting it done.
Just completed it as Arthur in chapter 2 as of August 1st 2022
Here are my tips for anyone looking to complete this challenge
- Practice Practice Practice and practice some more until you get it down perfectly
- WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW HARD IT IS
- The Pause trick should only be used as a last resort as it doesn’t always work
- Use a canvas wagon that has 3 SECTIONS Of CANVAS NOT 4 SECTIONS - in my experience they seem to protect you more as it has more canvas than wood
- SAVE AFTER YOU PICK A HERB
- if you are really struggling with any of the herbs take a break and come back in a bit and try again
- YOU ARE MOST LIKELY NOT GOING TO GET IT IN A 1 OR 2 ATTEMPTS- So don’t be frustrated if you fail and have to start over thinking it’s your fault ,don’t worry it’s not it’s the games
- and finally DON’T GIVE UP YOU WILL GET IT EVEN IF IT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE AT FIRST AND ITS WORTH THE EFFORT SEEING ARTHUR WEAR THE LEGEND OF THE EAST OUTFIT
Great job getting it done
lmao thats my goal too
im tryna get as much progress without rescuing micah and not doing the strauss mission
@@bersek5795 some thoughts on that
1) put off “the first shall be the last” as long as possible to reduce Pinkerton spawns on the Great Plains.
2) you’ll want to do the first Stauss mission to unlock the ledger and craft the legend of the east satchel - otherwise herbalist 7 will be a real pain
3) you can’t do Bandit 6 until you unlock the horse fence in ch3
@@Jimbatron oh alright
thanks for the help! i usually just speedrun thru the game lmao so i dont really do the challanges or anything like that i just now started to actually get into the like actual game after 6 playthroughs
So we Don't have to complete the steal 5 horses challenge,as the horse fence isn't open in chapter 2.
Thank you so much! I completed all 4 in 1 go :D I can confirm both the pause glitch and the wagon still work!
Great job getting it done. Glad you found this helpful and thanks for reporting back it still works.
Glad to hear you got it, definitely difficult to pull off even if you know how. Worth it though to have the LOTE outfit for Arthur!
I did it on my first try going into New Austin! At the last plant I accidentally slapped the horse before getting the sage and the horses started to take off so I had to jump back on the wagon and reposition myself but I got it in the end. I will name my firstborn after you great sir
Glad this helped, thanks for leaving a comment and great job getting it done.
Thank you very much. I followed this video and spend 2 days to complete this challenge. A finding for anyone who still want to finish this; there will be a wagon constantly spawn in the wood construction side Northeast of Strawberry.
Glad this helped, great job getting it done
For everyone still looking - as of day 10th August 2022 this method is still working very well!
(The fall back glitch showed in 16:20 works as well)
Thank you so so much for this dude! I've just managed to get all herbs after 4 tries but it was completely worth it :)
I also have a tip for anyone who is planning on using this method:
I recommend to start heading towards New Austin in the late evening, so when you cross the bridge after which Pinkertons stop chasing you it's around 7/8pm
Doing that lowers the chances of encountering any lonely lawmen (as the one showed in 16:00)
(When I attempted to ride to NA during the day I've run into sometimes two or three of them on my way, which caused me to try to rapidly turn around and ride away in order for them to not notice me and in panic I accidentally moved the camera to the side and the invisible sniper shot me lol)
Glad this helped - great job getting it done and thanks for reporting back that it still works
Is this working in rdr 2 Oct 2022 ?
I've watched a view of your videos now, and just wanted to say thank you for the incredibly detailed guides. You make everything very simple and easy to understand. Well done

A tip I found is that you can use camera mode to easily identify these herbs if you don't recognise them or can't see them well.
Photo Mode* Also ty for the heart. This method helped me a whole lot partner.
Thank you thank you thank you so much sir... I just did this I used the pause spam glitch... It took me Lord knows how many tries, but I did it. Needless to say, I ain't ever gonna do this again... Once is enough for a lifetime....
Anytime, glad you found this helpful and great job getting it done
Still works as of March 2024. Thanks for your comprehensive explanation. Nice to have it from a fellow Brit too. I had to use the glitch multiple times. I clearly didn’t practise enough times. You’ve really got to keep mashing that start button. You give the sniper a second and you’re a goner.
Great job getting it done. Thanks for reporting back it still works and glad this helped.
If you get a wanted level in Strawberry and then get into "Backwater/Great Plains" you won't have to deal with Pinkerton's.
Policy"
“Large amounts of reinforcements will arrive” bruh that was like 30 dudes
Yeah it’s a tad excessive isn’t it.
it's one of the van der linde bois
30 dudes IS a lot when they’re pinkertons

"Aren't you cold in that?" was the first fuckin thing I heard when I wore it into camp.
yes lmao same happened to me
After hours and hours of wasted attempts only managing to get the Wild Feverfew and days of telling myself I'll complete this cursed challenge, I finally did it all in one go. To those which are doing the challenge I have some advice for you.
1. Use the Photo Mode to see the plant
2. Do not give up
3. There are is a wagon with an even more uplifted seat than most wagons, steer clear feom that.
4. Don't give up on the challenge
thank you jimbatron
Glad you got it done, great job for sticking with it.
@@slimjimpui yeah, its a pain to do this challenge due to the many variations of wagons which can end you the second you drive into new austin.
It works! I just got The legend of the East as Arthur! (JAN 31 2021) and it is my birthday, this outfit is such a cool gift. I finished Herbalist 9 few days before I write this comment. Thank you for your precious works!
