Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is a high fantasy real-time strategy video game released by Blizzard Entertainment in July 2002. It is the second sequel to Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, and it is the third game set in the Warcraft fictional Universe.

Its a shame they haven't explored the Guardian character. He was trying to prevent Arthas and whoever else came to claim the sword, so he wouldn't be classed as a servant of Ner'zul or Mal'Ganis.
I agree, he's just written off as a generic elemental spirit. I'd love to see some development behind it

I know your comment is old, but this is my reason for it. In the Rexxar Campaigns in Old Hatreds, there is an item that belongs to a revenant and the item has some lore in it. The story says that some revenants were Paladins in the past. In my own opinion, the revenant's reason to protect him because he was a paladin in his past life.

Arthas has disappeared in frozen wasteland of Northrend and Arthas is reappeared as Death Knight.
Y'know, Warcraft would probably find a lot of success in making Arthas' fall to darkness into a movie.

Yes and no. The story line is great yes...but i feel that the best way for all these events to be told is through a tv show and not a movie.
Just make sure to go with the version of Arthas from Warcraft 3 where he was likeable and not the current prick interpretation Blizzard is going with. We don't need another prequel Anakin Skywalker.

I've been saying this for years! Warcraft III needs the Marvel treatment.
Give Arthas, Illidan Stormrage, Thrall etc their own individual movies (similar to how Iron Man, the Hulk etc got their own movies)... And then bring it all together for when they battle Lord Archimonde at Mt Hyjal and they can do a sequel to that with Illidan's invasion of Icecrown Glacier (how all the heroes came together in The Avengers)

@@user-hz8mk7lm2u lol it's not just Sylvanas. There was a reason why Human Campaign was put at first, it's because everything that happened afterwards were result of Arthas' campaign. Without Arthas, the Scourge wouldn't had been that powerful and if the Scourge failed, so too the Burning Legion'd attempt to invade Azeroth back in WC3. The Quel'thalas would still be High Elven society and Sylvanas would still be a living High Elf, Dalaran would still be on land, and especially the human kingdom of Lordaeron wouldn't be a dead city as it is now. Neither Thrall nor Jaina would have traveled to Kalimdor. Cenarius would still be alive and the night elves would have stayed in Kalimdor peacefully. Illidan would still be in prison because there would be no need to free him. Basically none of the important events in WC3 would have occured should Arthas didn't turn into the dark side. That's how important his role was.

In this mission I liked most the part where Arthas takes Frostmourne. Not because it was violent - it was about the fact that characters moved in specially scripted way like when he throws away his hammer (not standart moves). Replayed the mission many times just for that scene :)

It's a nice trick behind it. Game actually has two Arthas models, with Frostmourne and without it. In cutscene, it's techincally Arthas with Frostmourne who walks to the blade. Then Frostmourne pedestal shatters and blade actually disappears, and Arthas Frostmourne model drops the hammer and takes the blade that spawns.

It's curious that Arthas deals Chaos damage when wielding frostmourne, this damage type is usually seen on Demons

+xLetalis Well creeps from lv 7 got chaos too. But that could be a TFT expansion for balance reason. Another is that in roc chaos ignored Armour and was way better then in TFT. With TFT I think Arthas gets weaker after picking up the sword -.-

I would like to point out that Captain Faelric (spelling?) stayed loyal to Arthas even after his rise as the Lich King...the only other time you see him is as a tag-team boss with his second in command in the Halls of Reflection

Arthas and Anakin Skywalker have so much in common, both started enthusiastic, kind, passionate, arrogant and fierce. They wanted to protect those that they love and cherish, but the crave for power to do so lead them to the darkness.
I don't know about Anakin but Arthas' primary drive is vengeance. It's Illidan that is hunger for power.

he probably used the wreckage of ships and his bases to make a ship. i think.
Simple, Scourge had it's own ships. After Arthas murdered his soldiers in Northrend, he used Scourge ships to return home.

I think it was a few months (and a month of journey itself) later that Arthas returned home. He could get a ship from undead fleet or have a new one built from scratch. It could be built pretty fast with workers who don't tire. In meantime Arthas got some training from Lich King and killed expedition soldiers (only some dwarves survived, found in Frozen Throne).

I made a pact to have my girlfriend. we were together for 3 years, and I did this by inspiration to Arthas when he summoned Frostmourne.
Arthas: I lied to my men and betrayed the mercenaries who fought for me. What's happening to me, Muradin? Is vengeance all that's important to me?
Muradin: I'll spare you, Arthas. I wasn't there to see what Mal'Ganis did to your homeland.

Interestingly, in a JRPG title Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2/ReBirth;2, a main character Nepgear hears the rumors of the sword named Gehaburn that once drove the great evil out of the world she lived in. One of the routes takes you to such sword. If the specific requirement have been met, you get to witness the apocalyptic ending, where the life in the world of Gamindustri is destined to die out. Nepgear at that point believed in a single option to save the world and that is thanks to the rumors of that sword. Your supporting characters didn't like the idea at all, but still went out to search for it. The sword looked standard at first and didn't have any specs at all, but as the oracles of the Gamindustri's 4 nations went on to find out more about the sword, they reluctantly told the characters that the sword only powers up when a goddess, a leader of a single nation and also one of the franchise's 4 main characters is slain. Killing 4 of them, plus 2 of the nation's sisters powers the sword to the max, earning its name Gehaburn. The point of this video game was to bring back the Goddesses with the aid of the 2 nation's sisters of the goddesses. And the idea that you had to kill them all to rid of the evil that greatly threatened the world closely reminds me of the human campaign here, specifically the culling where you had to kill townsfolk in order to prevent Mal'Ganis from turning them to Burning Legion. Also Mal'Ganis mentioning how Arthas took the Frostmourne in expense of his friends' lives definitely reminded me of what I have written here. To strive to save your people, in this case the goddesses, only for the sake of your opinion and not anyone else's, ignoring the consequences. One difference here is at the end of that route, all 4 nations of the Gamindustri form into 1 and Nepgear believes she'll carry the future of the nation for the greater good, being haunted by the antagonist's final words, something like "you got rid of all of the nation's goddesses, how will humanity progress if there is no competition, were all those sacrifices you made worth the hassle" etc. Then you receive the ending named Conquest with a CG of Nepgear looking into the horizon with a picture fading into black and white with the eyes color as the exception.
Very impressive! You seems correct, I finished conquest was really heartbreaking when Nepgear chooses the wrong path. Noire stabbed herself then sees Neptune with a sad eyes, no matter how Noire still hates Nepgear for choosing the wrong path and idea. Noire only cared for Neptune and her sister. Blanc didn't care and her sisters are scared to die. Vert was running away then got interfered by Underling to hurt her as vengeance and ended up stabbed by Nepgear. Neptune was really alone and sad. Neptune really cared all of her friends and Noire was really important to her, It was truly depressing and heartbreaking. DoS was right. Nepgear is no longer my favorite character.

Mal'Ganis was hiding as Admiral Barean Westwind (de facto leader of Scarlet Onslaught) near Onslaught Harbor (Icecrown Glacier), where he sought revenge against both Arthas and The Lich King (WotLK)
Mal'Ganis also had cameo appearance in Battle for The Broken Shore (WoW Legion)

I don't understand why Mal'Ganis called the voice from Frostmourne ... a dark lord as if he didn't know about Nerzul and the Lich King. I mean the other Dreadlord know this but why Mal'Ganis didn't know?
I think he knew, but what is the point to tell it to arthas now? Like Mal'ganis was thinking about teaching him everything abt the lich king after arthas real fall to the dark side of the force (just a theory tho).
@@imadberhoum5422 When Arthas said "He said the time for my vengeance has come" after Mal'Ganis asked him what the voice from Frostmourne whisper to him, and then he said "WHAT HE COULD NOT POSSIBLY MEANT TO!?", then Arthas finish him off. It's just weird in my opinion, like he didn't know it was Ner'Zul. As if Mal'Ganis also have been getting whisper from Lich King and doing his work, but then after Arthas said that, he's really like .... "What!?! I've been doing all the work to lure Arthas here as you whispered to me and then you tell Arthas to kill me!!". That's the vibe i got from his reaction.

But hear me out I have a better theory that will complete what u just said: Remember; the lich king at that time was serving the burning legion, they sent mal'ganis to work with him/command him but Ner'zhul with his manipulations betrayed the legion and lured mal'ganis into his downfall, as u said.
