First, I have SO enjoyed going through Daniel with this pastor. I've learned so much and plan on doing other books with him after this one. Just a quick question, if anyone ever sees this: if Nebuchadnezzar hadn't been at least a little aware the dream was probably about him, why would it have worried and bothered him so much? I thought if anything he may have been hoping the magicians, then later Daniel, would tell him it was about someone else. Hoping they would. But either way, excellent teaching! So enjoyed it. Your translation says, "a spirit of the Holy God." The two I use have "a spirit of the holy gods in 4:8, 9, 1; 5:11." So, it seems my translations (ESV and NAS) point to Nebuchadnezzar's idolatry, and your to the living God. Completely different meanings. Any comment. Signed, a Bible student.
I agree. My Bible translation states "spirit of the holy gods" which could mean that Neb was speaking about some other gods other than the Spirit Of Yahweh... Any comment or clarification would be greatly appreciated here...thanks

This dream was God showing Nebuchadnezzar a type of satan his demise prior to the thousand years. Daniel chapter 4 and Revelation 18 are the same event. His roots are left in the earth for the millennia
Here's a thought... Daniel 4 speaks specifically about a man who's chastened by God but restored. Revelation 18 speaks about a world system that is also ungodly, but is destroyed forever. Blessings as you continue to study God's word!

Yes he would be punished and declare the God of tge Hebrews is tge true God then he would turn around and cast them into the fiery furnace. The fiery furnace seven times hotter is a picture of tge seven year tribulation. The trials will be seven times worse than any I'm history. In Daniel God tells Nebuchadnezzars he could lengthen his tranquillity "stay out of hell" if he did the things God told him like considering the poor.
