I've been recently wanting to get closer to jesus and God the father. I am a baptized member of the church but was away from the church for yrs and wanted to reconnect with it but now watching your video I can't in good faith follow a religion where a man took advantage of so many women and young girls. I agree I should let go of denominations and follow my heart and not the flawed views of these prophets. It just breaks my heart that so much of this faith is built on dark secrets. Also, the arrogance of how we view ourselves as the be all end all is what drove me away in the past. I hope God blesses you and your family and that you've truly found peace.

“You can't convince a believer of anything; for their belief is not based on evidence, it's based on a deep seated need to believe”
    ― Carl Sagan
Believers often see non facts, such as feelings as evidences, but sorry folks, feelings aren't facts. So many people of other faiths swear God told them their faith is also true, but somehow the mormons are the only ones who are right. I had one guy bare his testimony to me and in the same breath tell me my opnion was like an asshole. I was like ..wow the spirit inspired you to use the word asshole. Amazing how the spirit can work upon people in different ways! Thanks for putting yourself online and sharing your story. It will undoubtedly invite dumb trolls to follow you.

I first learned of the Norris Stearns "vision" account by reading "The Creation Of The Book Of Mormon" by Lamarr Peterson, published in 1998. Peterson was an SLC history buff who rubbed shoulders with Jerald and Sandra Tanner and other area people who were researching true Mormon history at the time. I other words: I didn't learn about that fact by finding it on the internet. I bought an actual book and read in there. Peterson also cited the other "visions" of the period from Charles Finney, Asa Wild, etc. It's obvious that Joseph Smith borrowed his claim of his "vision" from those reports which preceded his.

These comments illustrate the difference between people who follow logic and reason, and folks who are guided primarily by emotion.

That is one thing I found between a proper Christian church and some more false ones. Logic and reason must be part of the faith. Christianity has historically been one of logic and reason, though often some offshoots forget that, and start twisting the truth of the Faith. :/

    • @woodystube1000

@colmortimer1066 Forgive me, but…. What Christian church is this you refer to that is based on logic and reason?

    • @colmortimer1066
      @colmortimer1066 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@woodystube1000 In all honesty they can be harder to find today, Catholicism has always been a forerunner in science up until resent times when it became more secularized, Methodists, some Baptists, and Lutherans tend to push for logic and reason.
Blind faith is not really Christian. I'd try to avoid any that do not allow for disagreements nor questions.
If a false church has hurt you, you can try to go it alone a bit, do your own research, read the bible or at least the gospel, in a proper translation...which is most out there, but not the Joseph Smith one. And find people online that push more logic and reasoned approaches.
The key is to keep an open heart and mind, and trust in the truth, what ever truth you may find. And remember Jesus loves you, even if you were lied to about Him, or just flat out reject Him. I'd find that love from Him and see that is is sufficient to love Him back.

I order for exmos, newmos, andTBMs to have a rational effective conversation the TBMs must first spend hundreds of hours expanding their knowledge and correcting their misconceptions. Believe so many things which are verifiably false that it really is an entirely different world view. I know this because I have personally experienced both conditions.

You shared a "Master Class" on how to do a search in Google. FYI, Google is NOT "the internet". Google, while quite extensive, is just a very small part of the World Wide Web, which itself is only a part of the Internet. The Internet is much bigger than either Google or the WWW. Class dismissed.

Nathan, you have far more patience with the keyboard warriors and their egos 😁 so many of them, worse than flies 😉
We left keeping our integrity in tact and staying safe like you said regarding your family ❤
    Reality gets tricky 😊
As you concluded your personal experiences mentioning all the layers the church has created brought to mind an onion. So much symbolism in figurative and literal speaking there.
Bottom line, when the corporation leaves inconvenient truths out in order to whitewash and be made "acceptable," it becomes muddy and dirty very quickly! For every lie or untruth, more lies must created in order to support their narrative(s). Layers indeed!! Onions. Spiderwebs. Wallowing in the mud as pigs. Etc.
Your experience(s) are quite similar to ours ❤
You are in fine company with so many who do not do the harmful mind gymnastics. Carry on!! 🪷

I asked a similar question, though in a much less condescending way on that video. Honestly, any true christian faith would be better than Mormonism. I hope you, and anyone else hurt by your false church, find trust in the true Christ. I get why you would be bitter about religion, but I think it was more about the false teachings than the Christian faith itself.
As I said in the why you left video, I'd start with reading a good translation of the gospels. ESV, NASB, KJV, NIV, NKJV are all good just to name a few. Some people will say this one is better, or to join their faith, but I think for you all it is best to reacquaint yourself with the real bible, as I am pretty sure Mormons have a Joseph Smith translation...never trust a translation by one person, I usually cross reference many translations myself, because I would hate to be misled.
