Man I'm loving the van. Reminds me of when I was a kid my dad bought a 1/2 to Chevy van a 77 and did the inside with a bed in the back and drove to Colorado and brought back 70 case's of Coors beer.
Awesome you getting more done on the van 😀👍🏻 but it sucks with the first door rubber didn't fit 😞 but thanks to Jegs for finding the right parts for you 😀👍🏻.
Jed I’m definitely loving the old dodge van that you guys are working on!! I remember way way back in the 1980s I was born in 1980 so 87 or 88 I remember my grandpa and grandma had a dodge van and we went to yellow stone national park in it!! We had a big cooler that we put in between the two front captain seats and that was were I sat the intire time on the trip!! I was young so I don’t remember my ass hurting but it definitely probably did or at least today if I did the trip again it definitely would be sore!! Lol!! There van was brown in color I’d say a two tone browns!!! I definitely haven’t forgotten my grandpa and grandmas van that they used to have!!! Loved that old van!!!
As always great video the van is gettin cooler all the time. Man them keystones sure makes that van even better. Inside looks 100 percent better good job. That's cool got to see you're mom girl friend and dad all workin love it. Ya'll take care.
Those nut cert tools are great and makes installing blind nuts a breeze which for certain things makes a much cleaner look and just makes things easier to bolt on not having to use a ratchet nut and wrench to tighten up stuff . Years ago there used to be a place called North Metro Soft Seal that made door trunk & window seals for just about everything that was out by Anoka Minnesota but being I don't live in that state anymore I don't know if they are still out that way or if they moved so maybe look into them to see if they are still around or not because if they are still around that's another option for finding that stuff . Many years ago I used to drive by the place and they always had all kinds of old cars trucks etc parked outside or you could see some being worked on through the shop doors open so they must have also provided seal installation as well for customers that didn't want to deal with fighting seal installation . Strange that POR 15 didn't dry because I have head ready good luck with the products they make including the chassis coat that we used to use for customers cars when I worked at Classic auto years ago who would bring cars trucks in to have the underside floors and chassis's painted and sealed with it then painted satin or gloss black after it cured and I remember that crap doesn't come off easy once you get it on your skin because it actually soaks into the skin like it's supposed to on metal and just after a few seconds of it being on the skin it stains almost like a tattoo and would take weeks for it to come off even when trying acetone to try and remove it or by scrub brush and pumice hand cleaner lol . Peril Harbor freight sells those air powered paint can shakers fairly cheap and I know 2 guys that have them one who is a body guy and for the money they seem to work well but are kind of noisy but if you look to see what a commercial paint can shaker cost it's well worth the noise it makes and gets the job done of making sure the paints good and mixed so look into it .The ol hippie van's coming along nicely so keep the videos coming lol !
This episode is going to help me on my 73 Dodge’s resto. I hope to replace the door weather strips (all of them) later this summer. You know that the vent window rubber is not being made. So don’t destroy your original rubber around the vent wings. I think the rest of it is made. Good to watch your results on the sound deadner too. Other vanners have said you don’t need to cover it all to quiet it down. Now I see how far your two boxes went. Don’t forget the moisture barrier before you finish the interior! You can skip the insulation, but protect it from condensation and rusting.
That is while I POR-15'ed the floor primarily so when we lay down a carpet, moisture won't rust it out. We aren't going to make an camper out of this van, it might become our a car hauler/roadtrip vehicle so we plan to keep it simple
Van Dookie isn't looking like dookie anymore, pretty good progress so far,a friend had a van like your dad's but no side pipes, but his had carpet galore and he dumped alot of money into the interior and had a killer home stereo installed (that's right,a home stereo lol) it was loud af,bye bye lol
Man I feel old oh, I remember when those vans were new and ruled the streets and woods and wherever else they were able to go. Back then daughter's fathers warned them they will not ride in boys with vans LOL probably because most of them have beds in them
@@ScottsSpeedShop I wonder how well that would pull the Duster on an open trailer. I'll send you the picture I have of the DLI van with the Duster on behind it.
Looks and sounds a lot better. Are you going to put in insulation on everything? It should sound much better in there when you guys take it for a ride.
Much better than shag carpeting Jed, which guys used back in the day to deaden sound but primarily to please the ladies!😉😉 I do have one question about the sound deadener as I have 0 experience with it. Why put it in selective areas as apposed to all the flat sheet metal?
You can coat the entire interior but the main goal is to simply deaden any resonance, so I would go around and tap on the sheet metal and when it was tinny I would add a piece until it was more of a dead thud, and I only use it in this instance because it would have cost a small fortune to cover the entire interior and it would have only be marginally better
They were all available from Metro Soft Seal, just know their are six seals in total, each door has its own seal, I actually just installed them yesterday and they fit pretty good
Had that happen to me with POR-15. Called them and doesn't matter what you say, IT'S YOUR FAULT!! Even their $15/can spray engine paint disolved with gasoline 🤬 Never again! Chassis Saver from now on.
I honestly can't remember, we just bought the Jegs house brand stuff and it worked out great. Of course it took quite a bit to do a van though. I wish I had an answer for you but that's been too long ago for me to remember
POR is a pain in the ass. Don't like to stick to paint or shiny metal. Sticks best to skin. I just did my Nova wagon with Home Depot asphault backed aluminum flashing material. Sticks great, no smell and the sound difference is remarkable. Used 4 rolls, $12 a roll.
That is why I rough up the paint with an angle grinder and a stiff wire brush head, the POR only sticks to scared or rusty metal. I haven't ever tried the home depot stuff, so i dont have an opinion on their stuff.
how many pounds of rat she-it did that van had and it need to be soak in kerosene for like 2 hours then wash it down to get rid the hidden spot of those rat turds.
Love watching the interaction between you and your dad
I love working with him

Any time!
Very nice so far 👌. Von Dook- a 💪🏁. I'll be needing that sound deadning for the floors ect on Project 65 dart.
It is a dang nice investment for sure, it makes everything sound much more sturdy
Jed, I cannot wait to see what you guys have planned for the interior
It is gonna take a bit for the material to show up, but we will starting the work on it as soon as the fabric shows up
Get to enjoy your videos! Van Dookie is coming around! Love them MOPARS
Glad you like them! We got plenty more coming
I definitely need some of that sound deadening stuff for my old Dodge truck. And a 2nd gen Charger does make an excellent work bench.
If your truck has any rattles and shakes, this stuff would help deaden it

Thanks man, we are doing it bit by bit
Looks and sounds a lot better. Are you going to put in insulation on everything?
It should sound much better in there when you guys take it for a ride.
This is all it really needed, I might get more for the floor, but the sides and roof are as good as they'll get
It'll dry it's only dry in the sunny area. It takes at least 24 hours. Could take longer depending on temperature.
It had 3 days worth of sunny warm days, that one can never dried, but the second cured with 24 hours
Hey! Family channel; keep it clean! 😂👌
Looking good guys!
Thanks brother
What a difference! Can't wait to see what's coming next.

how much did you spend on the sound deadener total? That made a big difference but each sheet im looking at is at least $100.
