When I tried romancing Minthara with the Durge, at that point I didn't have any romance active yet, and Minthara was the one with the highest approval. Yet, the game resorted to Shadowheart for that scene
It’s because Minthara’s not supposed to be willing to form a committed relationship until AFTER Ketheric is defeated in the Mindflayer Colony. Before you enter Moonrise to fight Ketheric with the help of the Harpers, Scleritas shows up to insist you go back and kill Isobel while she’s alone at Last Light Inn. The only way this scene with Minthara could possibly play out is if you don’t Long Rest at all between all of these fights enough and also have enough approval with Minthara to choose her as your partner before Scleritas chooses to reappear and say your present lover will die because of failure to kill Isobel.
I wish there was a scene for Minthara because somehow I got her to romance me right BEFORE taking on Moonrise towers (not sure if that was a glitch or what). I’d broken things off with Laezel wayyyyy earlier and I could get kiss animations for Minthara and everything. But the game made me try to kill the gith instead. Like sorry Minthara I guess LaeLae and I aren’t quite as platonic as I thought. 😅

It's an adapted scene from Lae'zel. Perhaps they never sought to put in a scene for Minthara because most of her romance occurs very late in the game.
