After carrying a larger sling on an overseas vacation, I was awakened to the joys of not stuffing my pockets full every time I leave the house. I have this sling in rust and it is my go to for EDC. Phone and sunglasses have dedicated spots in the main compartment, which zips from both sides. Back compartment is semi hidden and perfect for a wallet. Keys and AirPods go up front with plenty of space left for smaller EDC items.

I agree with their straps being some of the best. I love how it compresses the bag when it's not fully packed. I have the bigger version and I fall in love every time I go back to it
I went from an AER Day Sling 2 to the AER Day Sling 3 and thought I'd found the perfect EDC. Then I tried the Bellroy 2.5.... I'm so glad I did! Its phone compartment is fantastic, organization is "just" enough, and the accessibility is top notch.
I’ve been using this sling for about a year and it’s amazing. My favorite use case is amusement parks, Disney, universal etc. Can easily be converted to waist pack for the rides that require it.
Also important to note: as a waist pack, it can count as personal item when flying, to go along with your carry on. Doesn't work 100%, but you can always slip it into your carry on if that's the case.
@@aeonbreak4728 its designed to be a chest bag, not a waist pack. Sure it can work for both, but at the end of the day waist packs have different design elements than chest bags to make them more comfortable/better fits
This is my favorite sling too. But I keep my phone in the back pocket and don't even zip it closed, for quickest access. My wallet goes in the main compartment, cause months can go by w/o me ever opening it; I pay for everything with my watch so I don't need my cards, I never have any cash (I use maybe $100 worth of cash/year) so I end up going inside just for my drivers license when I happen to get stopped by police. Even calling it a wallet is a stretch - it's the smallest/flattest one zipper pouch I could find and I keep my drivers license and one card (for emergency cash) inside. I also don't use the sunglasses pocket for sunglasses. I have ROAVs that pack super compact in their own rubber caseand that pocket gets all my tiny items, like telescopic pen, tiny flashlight, lighter, so they don't go to the bottom and make me "dig" for them. Oh and I wish they had given the same strap that the others get to the blue one too, cause it has a more seatbelt like material, which isn't bad per se, but it's also very stiff. But I have to deal with it, cause I hate the green and orange ones and I didn't want a 3rd black sling...
I tried the Bellroy amongst other and the Venture had a ton of great features. There were a couple of things I didn't like. I went with the Greenroom 136 Metrorunner and couldn't be happier. Keep up the great content.
Also my favorite small sling, I sort of need slings this size to have that sort of protective phone sleeve, and have the key leash in a seperate area altogether. Bellroy's sling strap mounting system is the best. I have the orange one, which has a nice dark brown strap. I normally don't prefer magnetic buckles on weight bearing straps, but the one they use here at least doesn't come undone easily for flat type.
Question: Does the strap dig into your neck when walking around? One of the things I hate about slings is how the weight of the sling pulls the pack down and pulls the strap into your neck. Such a thing makes long walks uncomfortable and makes the bag annoying to wear.
Nice review! I really like this sling too and agree with most of your points. I'm kind of bummed that the blue one (that I got) has more of a seatbelt style strap which is a little stiff and less comfortable than the woven straps that come on the other colors. For the zip pulls, one trick is to tuck them into the loops on either side of the bag - they are long and chunky enough to pretty much stay put there while wearing the bag.

Great review as always Aaron! Been looking at purchasing this sling and I will use your link, keep up the good work. I got this recent fascination with Bellroy, I like the style of their products. Another great review! Love my Venture Sling 2.5L, its is the best pocket reliever for sure. I pretty much use it every day, in fact it feels strange not using it and putting stuff in my pockets. Used daily, highly recommended. Agree the zipper pulls could be improved.
hey Aaron @Nomads.Nation, please can you recommend any sling bag with capacity of 2.0 to 2.5 L with RFID protection. I was looking forward to buy Alpaka Metro sling V1 but i think it's discontinued and I am not into vertical slings (pouch) so I don't want to go for Alpaka Vertical Sling. Please let me know if you have any good recommendations. And yeah I am from India so Alpaka doesn't ship here.
Bought this sling shortly after watching your review! Needed something to simply get stuff out of my pockets whilst being as minimal as possible. Love the rear hidden pocket - all slings need this! Wish it was Xpac material but close enough for a lower price. I think Bellroy does pockets better than Aer too
They recently updated the materials and colours too. Now black has matte zippers & the finish on the bag is smoother, less shiny + the logo is completely black on the black version for stealth
@@Nomads.Nation I received my 2.5L today and honestly I think it'll become my commonly used sling! I have 2 other slings made by Peak Design (3L) and Pacsafe Metrosafe X (10 converts to 13L expansion) yet the PD is only ideal for camera gear (the front pocket is woeful) and the Pacsafe tries to be an all-in-one-master-of-none except a comfortable and secure strap. I love that the zippers don't jangle although I do wish they had mini pockets on both sides to tuck away the tabs for security and I hope nothing happens to the strap as they don't sell them separately and aren't interchangeable. The compartments are all great and I can easily fit my Fuji Xpro camera with a pancake lens alongside my mobile without it feeling too bulky and looks very discrete. Took me a while to figure out the shortcut on the magnetic buckle! I was trying to pry it apart, similar to someone who's never used an airplane seatbelt before. Highly considering the 6L Venture now as this was my first Bellroy.
Great video as always! My mind is pretty much made up on this sling but I'm still quite unsure about the size, do you think it will fit the A6 Memobottle?
7:45 simply cut pullers and use the ones you like . Turn it to the best sling ever for you , remove friction in the design :) I also dislike pullers they are too big I dislike the colour as well
One of my absolute favorites of all time! Two wishes though- no mag buckles and this would have been nice if it had been maybe 1/2” taller (for my emotional support kindle 😅)
Hello Aaron ! This was an amazing review, great job! Just one question, I always carry a 24 oz water bottle with me, I believe it would not fit inside, right ? Would it be uncomfortable on the shoulder to carry the bottle with a carabiner?
thanks! not sure about the 24oz water bottle, I'd double check with Bellroy (and please let us know what they say). And yes, it won't be super comfortable to carry via carabiner, but having said that it's also very doable, it just sort of bounces around a lot
not my thing to be honest, I'm very bad at being a handy-man or modding things, might be a good question for the NN Marketplace - got some serious bag nerd there 👉 District.net/nomads
They have zippers on the sunglasses pockets on other slings but I don’t use it because I’m afraid the zipper will scratch them when I pull them out especially if it’s full.
Hello Aaron! Thank you for the excellent review! Could you please let me know if the shoulder strap is as long as that of a Venture 6L sling? I don't want to use it as a chest-sling but as a tiny messenger bag - the way I use my Venture 6L sling. Thank you!
@@Nomads.Nation i have the aer city sling 2 xpac but the compression is almost none existing… feels blocky and bulky even partially filled-up. These MD and Belroy Venture may the ones im looking for. I will choose the Venture as per your recommendation. Thank you!
When traveling I wrap a Velcro cable tie through the buckle so it won’t come undone. I do this with almost all my slings and it makes it so the strap will have to be cut/ripped to steal it away from me
@Nomads.Nation related question, do you think this strap system helps keep the bag choked up on the chest? I'm looking for something around this size that can stay on the chest without skipping into the armpit.
I bought this sling the other day and weirdly I'm not finding it comfortable. Even though it's only 2.5l, the strap really digs in when I'm just wearing a t-shirt. I also find it weighing on my torso when around the front to be constricting. I'm 6'0", so not small and I didn't think this would be an issue. I've never had a sling before, but do you think they take some getting used to? I'm thinking about returning it but I think it's such a cool piece of gear that I want to love. I just don't want it sitting around if I don't get much use out of it.
that is very strange to me, maybe you just aren't used to wearing slings? Comfort really varies from person to person, but all I can say is that if you watch my review and look at the comments, most people who have this sling are in love with it's comfort
@@Nomads.Nation Yeah, it might just be that I'm not used to it. It does seem like most people think it's extremely comfortable - could also be that my expectations were too high in terms of comfort though. I got the bronze one which looks great but the material is not as tactile and nice to interact with as it is with the black/navy versions. It also feels like it slides around a little bit more when I'm wearing it because of the smooth material. All that said, I think I worked out a great sling alternative for me. I also have the 1.5l black Venture Pouch that you reviewed the other day. I attached my Peak Design slide strap to it that I wasn't using for my camera much and now I have a secure sling that I can easily disassemble and turn into a pouch for my tech etc. when I have my backpack with me. I took it hiking the other day and it didn't get in the way or feel like there was any unnecessary bulk. It works like a dream and I love the modularity of it. I know it's not really an option for people because the strap is expensive on its own so I was lucky I already owned it. I really do hope they release similar venture pouches with that great material but in more colours!
Currently got the Aer City 2 X-pac and looking for something smaller. Have you tried the sling mini from bellroy or their new Laneway belt/sling from bellroy. This venture seems to fit my need, but I'm just not a fan of the look.
you can but it's not a great hip-pack (as it's designed to be a chest sling). Bellroy makes a Venture Hip Pack that looks very similar to this and it's great as a hip pack and a pretty good sling. Our review on it will be live in 2-3 weeks
I have this sling on the bronze! I love the material. Overall I love it, but I find that putting my phone and sunglasses in their respective pockets in the main compartment kind of takes up the space. I think it's really just my sunglasses that are taking up the space. I've considered trying other slings like the Aer Go Sling 2 because I'm a pretty minimalist carry kind of guy. Even 2.5 liters liters, I find I don't use much of that space at all.
Very cool..only thing about some reviews like this is that there are a lot of photographers like myself that are interested in gear like this and some reviewers never talk about lets say potential "camera" gear..you might be able to put in these slings..a compact camera..Ricoh, X100 bodies?..for example?..I understand it's only 2.5L but at the same time I wonder if those compact cameras can fit this product..thanks..
thanks for your feedback! I don't get a lot of camera load out requests, and when I do they are all different cameras, so it's tough to know which ones are the most in demand
cheers! All slings can technically work as a fanny pack, but dedicated fanny packs will always work better as fanny packs, and dedicated slings will always work better as slings. The best fanny/sling I've reviewed is probably the Everygoods CAS, but it's a better fanny than a sling for sure
Either I've been watching too much of your videos but are some of your recent videos a re-review of the previous bags? Not that it's bad or anything, it's an interesting retake of things 😂 you're the reason I got myself a Venture Sling 😂

Can you please review the Bellroy Sling/Sling Mini PREMIUM edition? There is literally zero good reviews on youtube as most people review the wallet premium not the bag or the sling. You can get all the audience for it when you be the first one. All the leather is also different based on colours.
Bought the Nightsky (blue) color few weeks ago. Overall nice sling but the strap is too slippery! Couldn't get it to stay on my preferred position on my body.
@Nomads.Nation I've used the regular Bellroy Sling and Bellroy Lite Sling. They stay in place much better. The strap on Venture Ready sling in Nightsky color comes with different type of materials (seatbelt type). I guess this contributes to the problem.
@Nomads.Nation I just bought another one in Ranger Green colorway. The strap is much better for staying in place. The strap doesn't feel as premium as the Blue colorway, but it works better for me. It's not slippery now.
@@Nomads.Nation thanks for your responsiveness and well produced content. I’ll do my best to find a product I can purchase through one of your affiliate links
I got mine today and it does fit but its a very tight fit. Without a case it can go into the tech sleeve compartment. With the Smart Folio case it can fit but in but not really in the tech sleeve. Either way you have to push it under the zipper to really close it and it takes up all the space pretty much as its forcing the bag to stay thin. I tested this with a passport and thin wallet in the back zipper. I've also tested the "Bellroy Sling Mini" and it does fit but its pretty much the same scenario/outcome. If you don't want a big sling. The iPad Mini 6 does fit in the "Bellroy Lite Sling Mini" a lot better as its a bit taller of a bag but keeps the same small form factor. And gives a little more space than the other 2 bags to put more stuff in.
@@Nomads.Nation hopefully that doesn't take as long as the backpack though. Also hoping it's similar size to this 2.5L as I think that's perfect but slightly above my budget. £85 in UK, had it been £50-65 it would be ideal. My ideal price for backpack max is £150
@@Nomads.Nation yeah, it could be faster but still take a while and I'm fine with that. I don't expect your version of the sling bag to be ready any time this year. If I'm wrong, then great. What's the ideal size you've decided on? 3L maybe? Or something bigger?
I absolutely love this sling, but I would be so concerned about that magnetic (less secure) clasp and the possibility of theft (someone ripping it right off me). 😬
@@Nomads.Nation Wouldn't a dangle stopper elastic loop that can be slid over the magnetic clasp be the perfect solution to prevent theft? It would be always available when required in such situations and easy to get out of the way when not required. Possibly incorporate into the Fyro Sling?
I think one con (at least for me personally) is there is no handle. When it's not on your body, handles come handy. Handling the bag with the strap works but is not ideal.

I love mine, only complaint is the floppy stretchy pocket in the main compartment; wish there was a more practical solution
agreed, not my favorite pocket
Bought this sling shortly after watching your review! Needed something to simply get stuff out of my pockets whilst being as minimal as possible. Love the rear hidden pocket - all slings need this! Wish it was Xpac material but close enough for a lower price. I think Bellroy does pockets better than Aer too
So glad you like it, I genuinely think that Bellroy makes the best slings in the world
They recently updated the materials and colours too. Now black has matte zippers & the finish on the bag is smoother, less shiny + the logo is completely black on the black version for stealth
@@backslashio solid updates as far as I'm concerned!
Roav foldable sunglasses fit perfectly in that front pouch.
cool!
Great video as always! My mind is pretty much made up on this sling but I'm still quite unsure about the size, do you think it will fit the A6 Memobottle?
Not sure tbh, always best to reach out to the brand themselves - be sure to let us know what they say!
7:45 simply cut pullers and use the ones you like . Turn it to the best sling ever for you , remove friction in the design :)
I also dislike pullers they are too big I dislike the colour as well
for sure, totally possible!
One of my absolute favorites of all time! Two wishes though- no mag buckles and this would have been nice if it had been maybe 1/2” taller (for my emotional support kindle 😅)
as a kindle owner I get this
will this fit an ipad and x100vi camera at the same time?
I don't have either of those things so no idea lol, ask Bellroy, they'll give you a solid answer 💪
@@Nomads.Nation thanks very much Aaron!
What’re some recommendations for replacement zipper pulls? That’s my gripe with this sling, which I just received last night!!
not my thing to be honest, I'm very bad at being a handy-man or modding things, might be a good question for the NN Marketplace - got some serious bag nerd there 👉 District.net/nomads
My only concern is the magnetic strap. Will disengage so I'll end up losing all of my stuff?
Never happened to me but Bo Ismono had that problem on his motorbike once
Would the Fujifilm x100vi fit comfortably inside the 2.5l venture? Thanks
Don’t have one so can’t say, I’d recommend asking Bellroy customer support
My go to sling is the aer city sling 2 x pac, I looooove it
phenomenal sling
They have zippers on the sunglasses pockets on other slings but I don’t use it because I’m afraid the zipper will scratch them when I pull them out especially if it’s full.
Good call
Could you please advise if the material has a tendency to accumulate lint?
It does not
Hello Aaron! Thank you for the excellent review! Could you please let me know if the shoulder strap is as long as that of a Venture 6L sling? I don't want to use it as a chest-sling but as a tiny messenger bag - the way I use my Venture 6L sling. Thank you!
Thanks so much! I’m traveling so can’t check - be sure to ask Bellroy customer support and let us know what they say 💪🏻
Hi aaron, between modern dayfarer active sling and this venture sling, which one you highly recommend?
Both are great, MD is a bit more sophisticated look and feel, Bellroy is a bit more casual but still premium. I prefer the Bellroy
I do this with almost all my slings and it makes it so the strap will have to be cut/ripped to steal it away from me
nice hack!
Thanks Aaron. Are you aware of any other slings on the market with a similar strap system? If this has just a bit more organization inside I'd be sold
I don’t know any that are the exact same. Some Alpaka slings are close but they don’t have more organization
@Nomads.Nation related question, do you think this strap system helps keep the bag choked up on the chest? I'm looking for something around this size that can stay on the chest without skipping into the armpit.
@@molohov3875 it'll still slide a bit, but not terribly in my experience
I just got this sling for 66 bucks, so excited!
nice buy!
@@rjk_designs glad to hear it worked our as a great alternative sling for ya!
Currently got the Aer City 2 X-pac and looking for something smaller. Have you tried the sling mini from bellroy or their new Laneway belt/sling from bellroy. This venture seems to fit my need, but I'm just not a fan of the look.
I have not reviewed them but if it's a sling and it's made by Bellroy, it's probably going to be awesome
As soon as I saw “Bellroy venture” I knew you were gonna be in love
I do love the Venture series haha but this is the best product in the lineup imo
Can you wear this sling around hips? Any downsides to that?
you can but it's not a great hip-pack (as it's designed to be a chest sling). Bellroy makes a Venture Hip Pack that looks very similar to this and it's great as a hip pack and a pretty good sling. Our review on it will be live in 2-3 weeks
My best sling ever. EDC and travel.
100% agree
I have the green colour one and I love it!! Btw pairs well with the memo bottle A6. Perfect for every day carry.
great to know!
I'm looking for an alternative, but I don't like AER or Alpaka, anything else in a similar size worth recommending guys?
Modern Dayfarer Sling or Tomtoc slings
I have this sling on the bronze! I love the material. Overall I love it, but I find that putting my phone and sunglasses in their respective pockets in the main compartment kind of takes up the space. I think it's really just my sunglasses that are taking up the space. I've considered trying other slings like the Aer Go Sling 2 because I'm a pretty minimalist carry kind of guy. Even 2.5 liters liters, I find I don't use much of that space at all.
The bronze looks awesome
@@Nomads.Nation something else to note. They offer this exact sling on a hip pack option!
@@brandonhayslette1393 yup! our review of that will be live in a week or so :)
hi great review thanks! Btw can it fit an Iphone 15 pro max in the back pocket plus a passport?
cheers! No idea since I don't own that phone - be sure to ask Bellroy customer support and let us know what they say 💪
Hey Aaron! have you tried Bravo Sling Mini? It's fantastic for me.
not yet, but hoping to soon :)
Aaron, do you know if I'll get the same mythical material if I get any other color than black? I have to ask since it's Belroy xD
ha you never know with Bellroy as they are constantly changing their fabrics, it's probably best to reach out to them to double cehck
Love your reviews!! Which sling is good as a fanny pack also??
cheers! All slings can technically work as a fanny pack, but dedicated fanny packs will always work better as fanny packs, and dedicated slings will always work better as slings. The best fanny/sling I've reviewed is probably the Everygoods CAS, but it's a better fanny than a sling for sure
Off the path of slings question.. what kind of wedding band are you wearing? 🤷🏻♀️ looking for a wedding band.
Manly Bands - very happy with my ring from them
Thank you! I appreciate you and thank you for taking the time and responding.
Either I've been watching too much of your videos but are some of your recent videos a re-review of the previous bags? Not that it's bad or anything, it's an interesting retake of things 😂 you're the reason I got myself a Venture Sling 😂
no re-reviews yet but a few coming up soon :)
Any recomendation for a hip pack / sling bag between 2-4l capacity, in canvas (waxed is a plus) or leather in tan/brown?
Check out Waterfield. I haven’t reviewed any of their stuff but they make really nice looking waxed canvas bags
@@Nomads.Nation i have looked them but im not sold, i love the mhp griffin tan, but the blaze orange interior just breaks off the heritage look, wanted something similar though.
@@Marcelo-wz4ww sry mate, don't know of anything to fit your needs. Maybe see if you can find a used MHP in a different colorway on NN Marketplace or Carryology Classified
I got this bag. The only part I don't like about it is the sunglasses pocket. It was so loose that I thought it was defective. I had to watch some videos on TH-cam to see if it was only mine that had a loose pocket.
100% agreed
@@Nomads.Nation I actually just hand-sewed a seam right down the middle of the pocket, and now it's 2 smaller, but much more functional pockets. Now I actually think it's the perfect sling since I don't use sunglasses anyways.
My favorite small sling too. Love the magnetic feature and if I’m concerned about it at a certain location I just wrap electrical tape around it. Easy on easy off
Good call!

Got it in a random market in China - no brand haha
This looks like it would fit tight across the chest. I tried the Tomtoc T21 and returned it after 15 mins, when across the chest it pokes outwards away from the chest!
You can loosen the strap
@@Nomads.Nation sorry meant to say that I actually want it to fit tight against the body! That was my issue with the Tomtoc , it would continually point outwards from the body

Very interesting, I’ve never had that problem myself. Have you used any other slings that don’t have this issue?
@Nomads.Nation I've used the regular Bellroy Sling and Bellroy Lite Sling. They stay in place much better. The strap on Venture Ready sling in Nightsky color comes with different type of materials (seatbelt type). I guess this contributes to the problem.
@@daniellawdaniel5695 ahh that's very interesting that the night sky version uses a different strap - appreciate the heads up!
@Nomads.Nation I just bought another one in Ranger Green colorway. The strap is much better for staying in place. The strap doesn't feel as premium as the Blue colorway, but it works better for me. It's not slippery now.

If you find one be sure to let me know
fits an ipad mini 6 ?¿?? thx
no idea, ask Bellroy customer support and be sure to let us know what they say!
@@MysteryPianoMan thank you!
