  • We are taking the 3500kilometer road trip to the Simpson Desert to be part of the most remote Music Festival in the world. At the base of Australia's biggest sand dune "Big Red" the family enjoys a great experience with lots of new friends and hospitality provided by Ineos. In this video you will get to experience the Australian outback and the fun we had.

    Great trip. I liked the chat around the table with the fellow stone victims. I’m yet to meet another owner that hasn’t got a big smile on their face.
    I’ve been absolutely mystified by the nonsense from supposed reviewers and their imagined “deal breakers”. I just wasn’t able to figure out how to make the steering wander, or suffer spinal problems from the footrest, or get a speeding ticket because the speedo is too far away to see, or suffer carpal tunnel syndrome from twisting a key instead of pushing a start button etc.
    Content from actual owners like yourself is way more informative and enjoyable. Looking forward to your next one.

    I’ve got a set of the Drifta drawers and fridge slide in my Gren, they’re awesome! An ARB single compressor fits perfectly in the wings he was showing you. I’ve got mine on the left so the only door that needs to be open to air up is the small barn door.

    My father had a EH Holden with an external sun visor and on country trips he would fit flyscreen between it and the back of the bonnet. The flyscreen went over the sun visor and was held on by clothes pegs on the trailing edge.

    XHQ has a funnel that allows you to use a high flow nozzle with the Grenadier - I have used it many times. You cannot use the high flow nozzle at full speed, but it is still fast. I missed you at the Eromanga Museum, I was there around the same time, avoiding Big Bash crowds! I did meet one of the other couples in the video at Eromanga.

    • @michaelhains2291

    • @michaelhains2291

      You must hold the pump nozzle firmly into the funnel to avoid any spills.

    G'day John, windscreen damage in the outback is so common. We carry a Ufixit windscreen repair kit sold by Repco for $35 easy to use we stared a screen near Boulia in July last year, on coming motorists not slowing down. Before the star gets dirty, & turn in to a crack it easy job hardly see a mark. What navigation unit are you using? I am getting sick of glitches with our Hema Hn 7. Safe travels.

    • @cannyoutdoors
      @cannyoutdoors  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I actually have one go those kits (which I have never used yet) but the stone that hit me caused too much damage immediately. We actually had glass on the inside of the vehicle and it sent cracks across the screen straight away. Again a motorist with a box trailer just didn't ease off at all. I use Memory Maps for All with an iPad mini. Downloaded all the maps to the iPad (about $100 for all Australia including all the Hema 4x4 maps) and it is great. I don't use all the features available but I have never had it glitch ever. You can also use the iPad for all the other stuff as well. Thanks for watching and commenting, John

    Hi John. My Grenadier will be arriving soon, but I am getting increasingly more concerned about this windscreen issue. Every single Grenadier owner whom I have spoken to here in South Africa have had to replace at least 1 windscreen within a very short period of ownership, some even up to 3 windscreens. As I have commented elsewhere on here, I own 2 Defender's, vehicle and windscreen shape more or less the same as the Grenadier. My 2 Defenders have done more than 600 000km's between them and both still have their original windscreens. We regularly drive on some of the worst gravel roads in Southern Africa and I have had several stone strikes, but only 1 very tiny chip on the 1 Defender's windscreen that was easily sorted with sealant. In South Africa, only Ineos can replace the windscreen and it costs almost 5x that of a Defender windscreen. What is going on here? It can be the shape of the vehicle or the windscreen because Defender's don't have a similar problem.

    • @cannyoutdoors
      @cannyoutdoors  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you. Your comment is very interesting. It is hard to explain if it not simply the very upright screen that makes it so vulnerable and your experience seems to indicate that. In my case the stone was large and hit the screen almost centre. I am sure it would have broken the screen of any vehicle. I don’t have an answer. I do know that Ineos behind the scenes are looking ( and possibly testing ) at plastic protection film that may offer some protection. I was fortunate to have 1 screen per year covered by my insurance. Hope this is available in SA. Cheers John

      I own and operate multiple grenadier’s doing lots of miles every week and have not had a broken windshield , I suspect people are driving to close to vehicles in front of them and rocks etc are damaging the windshield,yes the windshield isn’t curved and could be more susceptible to damage but if you hang back as we do it might help

    I called into the Adelaide Ineos dealer yesterday, and there was only 1 vehicle there. Salesman told me they are giving up the franchise in January, so then there won't be an Adelaide dealer. So that's a bit sad. Insufficient demand I gathered.

      Thanks Tony, You're spot on. We went for the Cub because the wait for AOR meant we couldn't travel for over a year. As for the canvas ... yep that's why we originally went with the Sierra. We were wanting to avoid the canvas as much as possible, however so far we are finding it is not a problem. Time will tell but we are enjoying the extra internal spacer over the Sierra.Thanks for watching, John
