this is my 13th fav game! ;) but really its very good and I've never been so stressed in a non-cooperative game as with 13 days. one game my opponent saw there was no way he could win so he caused us both to go into Nuclear war round 3 for a tie game. unthinkable! so brilliant. what game out there makes you even think of making both players in a 2 player lose just to save face! the next game I was careful not to mess with the nukes as much but lost cause I couldn't keep America's Prestige up. Excellent game!
The real gem seems to be, that every game you're on the edge of a nuclear catastrophe, and thus have to hold back your actions. However while taking a deep breath, looking up you realize that your opponent is sweating and going through the exact same emotions - you're in it together!
yes thats how I felt my first game and my opponent visibly was trying to look cool like he didn't care how close he was to nuclear war so as to make myself retreat from an area before he did.
Cute little game but not my style. I feel as if there's too much luck, lack of variation and simplicity Twilight Struggle is still my goto Cold War game.
Twilight Struggle is far superior to this game, but 13 Days is really good if you don't have the time but want to play something in a shorter period of time with a similar theme and game mechanics.

So.....it is like being married.
I will not hold my breath for the Freshwater Tank episode of Every Game Is Awesome.
Pretty similar to Fort Sumter... whichever was first.
To me, it's like a cross between Twilight Struggle and Fort Sumter. The Agenda cards and the Aftermath stage remind me of FS.
Do players get a sense of what's happening in the 'story' of the game? For example, when the US player puts two cubes on Cuba, what does that mean?
Necro, but I assume the cubes are representative of the 'influence' players have over a region or at least a measure of stability and control.
Tom's hat looks like it has had better days 😂
Cyn R I wouldn't want to be one of Tom's hats. No offense intended.
this is awesome game
Why didn't it get the seal of excellence when Jason rated it a 9?
Johannes Sjolte I don't think Jason is trusted with the Seals yet. 😁
For the same reason Melanie ratings doesn't count for the seal.Jason is not a reviewer, he just helps Tom to review.
I think USA should move prestige by 2 since they dominate the atlantic battle ground which is part of the circle.

Well... he is awkward.
